Complex, not easily understood, not white or black, but grey. This is how Jalal and Rukaiya were similar. I loved the bond they shared. But since the story revolves around JA,the cvs thought it was okay to butcher Rukaiya's character! Sigh!

Anyway,I feel for Rukaiya, honestly. Spend so many years with a guy,
I agree. they ruined her layers. We understood that she was supposed to be semi-villainous, not intentionally harmful. they should have left it at that.
you literally become like his shadow you know. She is like a hard shell outside, but deep within, she secretly hoped, that someday he feels for her, just like she did for him. Ofcourse he cares for her,but its not good enough,is it?
this rukaiya (as opposed to the last one) lost herself for a man. that's what went wrong. the last one was in love with him but didn't need him to be complete. this one, her existence begins and ends with jalal so the loss will bear more weight on this rukaiya.

But yeah,it was more than enough,as long as he doesn't 'love' someone else. But,he eventually did.
Rukaiya must gave felt betrayed. How was she to console herself with the fact that she just 'cares'?
bad, bad system. I am not saying monogamy is the answer but the partners is polyamory should be willing participants.

Plus, the burning desire for a child.

Good lord,I cant even imagine being in Rukaiya's place, honestly.
again, she is in the want of anything and everything that makes her feel important. if not his love then the honour of being his child's mother. alas she has to settle for a keeper there too.
Your os,the story,it is not typical,you know?
I know😆😆
But,what I liked the most about it is the moral. Everybody needs love and that is very true. Both of them sort of lost their way in life, what were they to do,when the only thing that mattered to them is gone? And all thed needed was assurance, that love still exists.
thank you
Good job girl! I have a thing for dark,haunting,not-s-typical stuff myself. So that makes you my favourite! 😳
awww I is proud🤗

I am flattered, thank you. P.S. I am not 20+, not yet😉
It tugs at your heart strings...really does...there's not been a single day when I haven't gone on to imagine a lovely romantic setting with Ja-Jo and then ended my bliss on a low note when I recollected all the unloved Begums in his harem! Begums who possibly had glimpses of their husband for 1 hour in 2-3 years!!!! Ruqs still had a lot going for her...
I agree. Love is a privilege. It shouldn't be, but it is- an emotion that should be plentiful is reserved for the chosen few. If you've got it, you better treat with care because there are many more like you waiting for a minute, a second of it. In our world of inequalities, some humans deserve it more than others? Breaks my heart.
Weaving romantic stories in a polygamous settings is quite challenging for writers of the 21st century...I like how you tend to think out of the box! Kudos girl...
thank you. as long as it is not anything like the sister wives of tlc, we will be alright😆
My take on your write up -correct me if I'm wrong, the man Hoshiyaar misses not being able to be in touch with his woman Hoshiyaar all the time (or wholly) and he's trapped in a man's body, right? So he makes love with Ruqaiyya to fulfil that void, while she clearly only relates to the Man Hoshiyaar and fulfils the emptiness in her life with him!
correction: the man is not hoshiyaar. hoshiyaar has a lover who is a man (who is presumably either hetero or pan sexual). we don't know the identity of this man so, we can't tell who rukaiya is making love to. we only know that he likes hoshiyar but is fulfilling the void with ruk.
A small tit-bit...from what I've read (and not to dampen your story or spirit in anyway - knowing that you're a girl who would take criticism - also, this needn't take anything away from the ESSENCE of your story)
Precisely for this reason, eunuchs were castrated before they could become guards of the harem...If not, what guarantee for the king who used to leave behind his harem for months on end with men (who were more in touch with their feminine side) but still men by outer appearance! 😊
I was mindful of the eunuch situation during the mughal rule when writing this but I hope I didn't confused you a whole lot.
so my previous reply will answer this question. we don't know from the writing but can only assume that one of the reason hoshiyaar's lover can't be with him (physically) is because hoshiyaar is castrated. as far as I know, castration can lower libido a whole lot and with loss of anatomy, we don't know if it would work at all. that's is the dilemma here. does that clear things up?

ETA (remember this term😛)
I see I have a student😆😉
Since you seem to be a fellow-Ruq sympathiser like me and like thinking out of the box ...wonder if you'd like reading a 21st century spoof I'd written on Ruqs, Jalal and MA...😛
link?

I have officially switched over to Jodha Akbar so yes, this is my mid-morning TV watching routine now.
Kind of? FINE, I will take what I can get😆I am not necessarily biased toward her but I feel her feels. Poor woman has internalized all the oppression she's faced, too much for one lifetime I say.

not completely back yet. will be here now and then
so how is JA shaping up
i cant get myself to watch it dunno why
maybe coz its kekta work and twists history to suit her self

but whatever little i have seen eons ago, Ruqaiya made the max impact
she was destined to doom in this matter with Jodha being around and that is painfully sad but appealing nonetheless

Very different and very very VERY bold. It was weird reading it and even weirder imagining it but it's just sooo true.
everyone needs love, everyone deserves to love and be loved.

I'm a very very lazy person I read stories but don't even click the like button, leave alone comment.
But this OS just made me wanna comment.
Very innovative, and very very heart-touching if you can actually understand the depth.

okay. I can wait but hurt before my patience runs out😆

JA is going well. Ekta is a smart mind and here she is doing okay; not exactly a soap but not at the level of her films yet. somewhere in the middle. say like a mashup she makes to give the perpetually unemployed Tushar screen work.

I agree. Did you know they changed the actor who played Ruk? and then changed her character arch too. the first one was better but the second one is growing on me I suppose.
