Yes, of course, Vicki, it is a classic case of crossed wires.

As I wrote elsewhere, Jodha is not angry now about her patidev's past failings.

She is crabby and tearful because she wants to stay but does not want to lose face with Jalal by confessing that to him, or even letting it be known indirectly by, say wearing a green joda - the one in which she sang that paean to Rajput valour, perhaps. It would be perfect provided he recognised it!😉.

He also has crossed wires, and thinks she wants to leave, so he is not able to help her out as she would have wanted him to do, by simply asserting Aap yahan se kahin nahin ja rahi hain, Jodha Begum.

So she complains bitterly about never having been happy in Agra, and also makes it a point to tell him how disgraceful it would be for her to go back to Amer as a wife discarded by her husband, complete with the doli-arthi lines.

No wonder Jalal, who cannot understand what more he is expected to do to placate her, and why this dratted woman can never say two civil words to him, is left climbing the wall and clenching his fists, and leaves without telling her what he wanted to, probably about the Meena Bazaar. He must have gritted his teeth in the corridor and muttered Women!!

Typical Mills and Boon, in short, and in its way, comic. I liked it that by precap time, he was back to being the Shahenshah. I was afraid, after the public apologies in the open court, that he might start going the marshmallow way.

And yes, this post is as perceptive and articulate as ever.

Jodha cannot identify this because she is not in sync with her changing heart or how much importance she is attaching to this marriage beyond the rituals. She can only feel the pain and its frustrating her. So, she pours all the venom on Jalaal. Simply because she cannot tell him that she does not want to leave him.

As for Jalaal, he was in the hopes that Jodha will choose him and not 'Khulaa' and that is why he gave her the option of staying back as his wife. But Jodha's outburst today will only strengthen his misconception that Jodha hates him. He cannot see the pain and angst behind her arrows because he himself has no realization that Jodha is seeping into his heart. Its like walled psychology versus walled psychology and that means no outcome.

Its actually quite laughable, you know. Two passionate pre-conditioned stubborn people are falling hard for each-other and its hurts so much that it rolls out in the form of tears and barbed words.

So, dear Jodha and dear Jalaal, the moment someone gets the power to hurt you and alienate you from yourself. understand... that emotions are taking over the rein which you thought was in your hands.

Don't get angry on JJ's antics. They are repercussions of a beating heart and an opaque mind which often lead to CHAOS!
