Shyamala, my answers in red below ...
My dear Mansi,
I have got to hand it to you for sheer tenacity👏, and of course I am much older than you are and so tire more easily of all these labyrinthine guesswork. 😉
It's not tenacity, its the inability to sit still when I have a bee in my bonnet ...
I too think the humshakal is going to come in some time, for the introduction all but hammered it in! But not to call Jalal's descent into question. That is ironclad, from the Umarkot days.
Okay agreed I got a bit carried away there! But hey, give me some slack, its an Ekta serial ... 🤣
The only thing is all the permutations and combinations that you have so meticulously and patiently organised, which seems promising to me is that Adham might be the son of that Mullah Beqazi, and Mahaam might eventually try to pass him off as Humayun's son, with some sort of tenuous claim t the throne, even if from the wrong side of the blanket. That would be very useful for her. In fact, I read somewhere early on that Adham was in fact Humayun's illegitimate son.
I too have read that and this idea did surely cross my mind that Maham will try to pass her son off as Humayun's offspring especially if this humshakal was his dad. Unfortunately there was no DNA testing back then ... but that's what probably spiced up life because speculations could be endless!
I agree that the pirbaba get up for Jalal needs explaining, but it could be almost anything.
It's too much of a co-incidence to me that this humshakal was also a religious man. hence the constant doubt about this spoiler pic!
The photo of him with blood all over his face, clad in his undershirt, is yet to be explained. Maybe the tiger will take care of that!
Oh, I've found out that. It was an offscreen pic from the promo shoot (of the sequence when Jodha says she is the culprit, and Jalal brandishes a sword at Jodha and there's the next shot of him with blood on his face). Apparently Rajat was sitting there, staring at the TV monitor to see if the shot went well and hence the offscreen shot of him in undershirt and with blood on his face.
But I have not found a similar explanation why he is bearded and in pirbaba garb in the latest spoiler, hence the suspense!
As for the shorter version of the explanation for the humshakal, I do not think Mahaam will produce anyone, for it would be a certain death sentence for the woman in question, and voluteers might be tough to come by!😉 She might offer that as a possibility, and when told of Mullah Beqazi, Jalal would be convinced and even Jodha might be shaken in her belief.
Good point!
For now, I would love a break from this mystery, and some light scenes for a change. Incidentally, why on earth would Jodha, who hates hunting (in the film as well), go for shikar with Jalal? And would they not be having soldiers for security ? Why would Jalal have to do that herogiri himself, except for obvious if implausible reasons? It was handled much better in the film, with Sharifuddin's hired killer attacking Akbar.
The Tatasky synopsis seems economical on the "real story" as brought by Khabroo. The Khabroo news said Jodha, Jalal and Hamida would set off on a dargah trip via a jungle where this tiger shot would take place (quite a probable story). Later of course the tiger was replaced by the cheetah (still probable). But this Tatasky synopsis version of Jodha and Jalal going for shikar does seem highly improbable!
Lastly I was intrigued by Jodha's reference,.in her post- vase tirade, to Jalal not being able to make things pehle jaise no matter how much he tried. In his place, I would have asked her
1) how did she assume that I was trying to do any such thing and
2) where would she fix the marker for the pehle jaise? At her Jalal ka sar stage, the shaadi ka joda burning stage, or the post-kavita stage,or something else?
I suppose she means the "before nazarband stage" which I agree was not still the greatest phase of her life with him. But at least she was writing verses to the unborn child, and he was arriving at her rooms asking for the meaning of those verses. So some degree of civility was there, which was present at no earlier or later stage of their relationship so far. All this is my explanation, not hers! As usual its possible I am doing my usual wishful thinking!
