JALAL-JODHA
Wow! Jalal actually reminisced all the bitter things that had transpired between Jodha/Jodha's family and himself right from the beginning (basically, all about the Rajput-Mughal enmity!)
He assumes that its a long-standing conspiracy that was being played out by Jodha's family...
While Jodha is awakened by the announcement, Jalal thunders into her chamber at night..
'What happened' the unaware girl shivers seeing him point his sword at her neck (Imagine being woken to that!)
'I'll ask you the questions...' he retorts, trembling with rage 'WHY? Why did you do this...You wanted to eradicate me..punish me...then you should have attacked me...why did you have to conspire with your brothers and murder an innocent life that hadn't even come into this world...and after committing such a crime, you act so innocent! I can't believe you are capable of something this depraved'
The unprepared Jodha is definitely shaken. She doesn't know what to say in her defence when Jalal spews word after word of how the Kesar had been laced with poison! Why, he even grabs her neck - violently enough!
'I have done nothing!' she tries retaliating meekly
'Every criminal says this very statement' he says as he harshly pulls her up from her bed and corners her to the wall 'However, just like every other criminal you've left behind traces of your crime!'
She tries protesting a few times - crying out that she was innocent, but he is adamant that he would NOT listen to her.
'You have no idea what I'll do to you and to your brothers' he screams at her 'I'll never let the murderer of my child live or die in peace. This is your last night. Tomorrow, I'll pronounce your punishment publicly in the court.'
Saying so, he then pushes her on the ground and storms out of the room.
MA - Resham
All our doubts about Resham & MA will now be doubled because the following scenes show that MA is genuinely hurt by Jalal's loss - not only that...she is annoyed that someone had managed to outsmart her! 😕
'I am the one who plays politics around here and someone managed to even outsmart me!' MA discusses, all puzzled 'Everyone is disturbed...you have no idea how hurt Jalal is now...you should have seem him..he was so happy before all of this transpired'
Why, she even doubts that Jodha had little to do with this mishap 'Some other enemy knows all the secrets of the Sultanat and is out to get us!'
When Resham questions MA about Ruqaiyya, MA confesses sadly 'I don't want Ruqaiyya to gain all power and I do hate her...however, I didn't hate the child growing in her womb...Jalal is my own child...I would never wish ill upon him'
She eventually breaks down.
I am so confused now! I loved watching that MA has a heart for Jalal after all...but this only heightens our dilemma!
PALACE GOSSIP
Sharifu, Banu, courtiers, Hameeda - all of them are gossiping about Jodha and Amer.
The only person who seemed 'not-too-affected' by all of it was Adham!
JODHA'S BROTHERS
Jodha's brothers are still in Amer and very conveniently rounded up for interrogation.
JODHA
Jodha is anguished by Ruqaiyya's loss, but is also worried about the fate of her own family. Poor thing!
She didn't seem too concerned about Jalal's outburst/mishandling her the previous night - almost like she felt his momentary outburst was justified!
In fact, her words for Jalal were not caustic, only realistic 'What Shehenshah is doing is not right' she says before she is rounded off to court too!
RUQ-HAMEEDA
Finally, those who wanted to see a Hameeda-Ruqaiyya bonding will get to see this today. 😆
JALAL
Hameeda is the only one who seems to be convinced that Jodha is innocent. However, the poor lady gets a earful from her own son when she speaks in support of Jodha. 😆
Why, he even blindly dismisses whoever wanted to meet him...until he realizes that the person who came to meet him was Begum Salima herself. Salima tries using his momentary spell of silence by reasoning with him about Jodha - 'A lady who loved children so much would never do something as bad as this' she explains. She even reminds him of BK's advice, but Jalal is unmoved. ABSOLUTELY UNMOVED!
COURT
[Bringing in an ailing Ruq into the courtroom made little sense. I'd have expected her to be resting now...anywayz...]
While the ministers pass their judgement that the Ameri Kesar was the one that had the poison in it, they want to discuss if the conspiracy had been committed before it arrived in Agra or AFTER it had arrived in Agra...
However, Jalal plainly proclaims his decision 'They are guilty...there will be no discussion on this! Let them be burnt alive so they know how it feels for me now'
Jodha is enraged, but stays quiet!
There is only person who has the guts to stand up and speak against the emperor- Maan Singh!
The young boy tries to oppose Jalal and there is an interesting argument between Maan Singh-Jalal following this
'Shut up and don't interfere in these matters' Jalal shouts
'Please listen to my buasa once...she's innocent' Maan states 'We'd rather have our heads chopped off before going against our own kin!'
'If you are going to side a criminal, you'll be labelled a criminal yourself!'
'I don't mind that' he says and takes his side beside Jodha
One of the older wise Mughal ministers tries advising Jalal that he was not meting justice - what with the accused not even being allowed a chance to speak up in their defence! However, Jalal is still stubbornly defiant!
HAMEEDA - the defence lawyer
Hameeda was the one who actually spoke up like a lawyer here - in defence of Jodha. She states all her past observations (including the Mirchi-laden food that Jalal had been subjected to!) She brings up the point about how something that had already been tested by the official-tasters suddenly become poisoned mid-way!
For some reason, I don't think Jalal is convinced...his rage is seriously clouding all sense of judgement!
I can't believe Jodha didn't speak up even once through all of this - though, one could see the anger in her beautiful eyes through her blue veil. It was a pleasant difference to her usual argumentative self. Or, was she just following Royal orders and NOT opening her mouth in court. Whichever way, I do hope she says something or does something in her defence tomorrow.
PRECAP
Jalal seems like the Jallad we'd seen in the initial episodes...threatening Jodha and her family!
