It is a crying shame, my dear. Just think of the wonderful subtle interplay of relationships one could have had between Jalal, the old Ruqaiya and Jodha, instead of this crude one-up-womanship and insecurity!

In almost every other aspect, the writing for Jodha Akbar is much superior to the run of the mill Balaji serial, so why could they not have accommodated a complex, vulnerable, layered Ruqaiya as well?

Jalal now wants to get to know Jodha and discover all her fans that he does not know of yet, and this cannot be done by the straightforward route as they are not on common speaking terms at all. Since Rahim seems to be always in Jodha's suite of rooms, Jalal thinks that by spending time with Rahim. he will be able to indirectly spend time with Jodha as well. That is it.

As I wrote to Pallavi above, it is curious, is it not, that an emperor is reduced to these stratatgems for courting his own lawfully wedded wife?😉

My heart goes out to the poor boy, stuck in completely unfamiliar territory, trying to woo a termagant of a wife, But he is resourceful, and I have no doubt at all that he will manage.

The episode was one of a kind , the kind which people remembers long after the show finishes n talks about it on lazy sweet reflective evening n sudden holidays in rainy season.

Beautifully analyzed and I must say this episode was a delight to watch and even I have watched it multiple times, loved the way Jalal acknowledged his flirtatious ways to Rahim in front of Jodha, and his side glances to her were very cute, thanks for your post!
