This is a short OS of how Jodha's first Gokulashtami in the Mughal heartland of Agra goes off:
Jodha in a great hurry and flurry to Motibai and the rest of her maids, "Sheegre sheegre hath chalana. Hame shyam seh pehle yeh sare pakwan banane hai."
She herself goes to a big cauldron in which oil is boiling and deftly starts making ladoos.
Outside the harem, Mansingh is letting out a big sigh and tying a wet cloth beneath his regal attire.
Jalal spotting this young Rajkumar to whom he has taken a fancy asks him, "Chote Rajkumar ap ithne gumsum kyun hai?
Mansingh replies in a forlorn tone, " Aj Krishnashtami hai. Bhuasa apne hathon seh Krishna ke liye ek sau at tarah ki pakwan bana rahi hai."
Jalal with a big smile, "Toh isme dukhi hone ki kya bath hai. Hamare sath under chalo aur hum sab un pakwano ka maja lenge."
Mansingh totally flabergasted, "Bhuasa humko shyam seh pehle nahi dengi. Woh sab humko Shyamko krishna ko bhog lagane ke bad hi milega. Aur woh toh kehti hai ki aj sara din nirjal upwas rakna hai. Jab hum chote teh toh ek bar humne churane ki kosish ki. Tab unhone hume aur hamare doston ko karkane meh ek din ke liye band kawadiya taki hum unke puja me vighna nahi dale."
Jajal gives a sly smile to Mansingh and a short while afterwards, four hefty women immaculately covered from head to toe were seen entering the harem.
"Jahanpanah mai kaisa lag raha hoon", Sharrifuddin to Jalal.
"Todi aur jor seh bologe toh sare harem sunlega", Jalal gritting his teeth at Sharrif who didn't know even the basics of impersonation.
"Puphasa, hume chodiye bhuasa hume mardalegi", Mansingh sivering in his shoes at this escapade of theirs.
"Main tumhe bachaloonga. Tumhe woh pakwan kane hai ki nahin?" Jalal in a reassuring tone to Mansingh.
Adham Khan nods vigorously thinking only of those delicacies awaiting him.
Alas to their great misfortune, they collide with Ruqqaiya begum who asks, "Ap log kaun hai?"
Jalal with great presence of mind, " Hum logon ko Jodha begum ne puja ki taiyari karne ke liye bulaya hai."
Ruqqaiya leaves clicking her tongue, "Aur kya kya dekhna padega is harem mein!"
When the foursome reach the place where all the delicacies are kept, the find it empty.
Jalal highly disappointed at missing this opportunity of pissing off Jodha asks Mansingh, "Yeh kya? Sare pakwan kahan hai?"
Mansingh to Jalal, "Wahan upar in matkiyon mein! Bhuasa ko shak hogayahoga ki main churane ki kosish karoonga."
Jalal to his companions, "Toh ayo matki podthe hain!"
Adham Khan and Sharrifuddin being on the heftier side formed the base and Jalal and Mansingh climbed onto their backs and started unloading all the pots.
The foursome were having a gala time enjoying the festive delicacies. Jodha rushes in hearing all this thod-phod and catches Jalal dressed in female attire by the ear, "Tumari kaisi himmat huyi?"
Only then does Jodha realize that it is not some impertinent dasi but her own patidev and breaks into peals of laughter when Jalal thinks to himself "I always wanted to see fear in your eyes. I wanted to irritate you. But I don't know why your smile gives me more happiness than your fear!"
