Shyamala,
I was in stiches after reading your post today!😆 Such a bad idea to sit down with a steaming hot cup of coffee and read your post on JA...almost spilt the beverage on me! 😆 I was completely ROFLing on Mynavati doing a Mrs. B🤣 She is quite the clown of Amer, follwed closely by her squarish husband!😆
Coming to Akbar, I personally think that there is neither love nor possessiveness in him regarding Jodha as of now...he just wants to get even...actually he wants to get one better than her, for the impertinence she showed! Ofcourse, there is a subconscious attraction...but I think, his fascination for Jodha has more to do with conquering her pride and bringing her so-called arrogance down on his feet!
Or maybe there is some amount of possessiveness...but it has no romantic connotations...more like a hunter wanting his prey to remain guarded till he gets it on his own! Okay...this sounds very 50shadish now!😆
Btw, you not only nail the show / episode / characters with your spot on assessment, the best part is that you do it with a lot of humour and wit! 👏
I am yet to watch the episode...so will post my response on this post a while later!😊
Cheers,
Poppy

Yet another wonderful post Ma'am. And Pride and Prejudice references? Awesome. I have read the book and watched every movie for about ten times, and writing a thesis paper on it as we speak. Hence, this post makes me really happy. 😊 Anyway. I wonder whether two different sections of CVs manage the Rajput and the Mughal parts. The Mughal parts are usually so much better. And with the exit of Smilie, the character of Ruqaiyaa has pretty much stopped existing for me. I cannot care less about the new one. However, I have a theory here, regarding the sudden transformation of Ruqaiyaa's character. I feel that average Indian audience will not be able to relate to the love story of Jodha and Jalal if Ruqaiyaa was such an interesting character. They will typically sympathize with her, which was already visible from the forum discussions. Perhaps, to shift the focus of the audience to the main story, they had to sacrifice such a beautifully nuanced character. Which makes me unhappy, but I guess I understand the motivation.

Yes, my dear, and for 5 days running, no less! They will fit in every known and unknown rite from all the Indian wedding traditions. We are going to be quite spoilt, thank to the serendipitous postponement of that other Zee show.

Yes, I agree about Bharmal's gag order, but didn't you see those 2 dasis gossiping about it as they left the palace? The place leaks like a sieve, and even that fake carpenter in Jalal's tent knew about it.

Seeing that in our TV serials, doors and windows exist for the sole purpose of facilitating eavesdropping😉, how come no one, like Sukanya the other day, heard about this great secret and told Jodha, or spoke of it in her hearing? It is simply impossible, my dear, and it is goofy, that is what it is.

And yes, thanks a million for your very warm words!

Oh I await your analysis ardently!!infact I've scrolled up and down reading most of them!! You are spot on when you say all this. It is true that the Amer nobility are clowns dancing. The worst of all is that they don't realise it!

Jodha not knowing of her grooms identity though very suspect, can be explained. Bhaarmal did say that he didn't want anyone to tell Jodha of her upcoming nuptials with the one man she detests- Jalall! So when the MaharJa her father, has forbidden anyone of mentioning it to her, I doubt anyone would want their head to be knocked off their shoulders by relaying this bit to J!

But for someone so feisty & intelligent, I too, like you Aunty, find Jodha's passiveness out of character. But I waiting desperately for 5th Aug!!! When they both FINALLY come face to face!!! And now it's going to be aired for a hr!!!!

We are lucky to have you on this forum. Your posts make me happy..

The stupidity shown in Amer never ceases to amaze me.. in today's ep they are gonna show sujamal playing daandiya inside the palace.. as bhagwan das watches.. probably admiring sujamal's daandiya playing skills.

Dear lord. Dandiya playing skills? Epic. 😆 I truly wonder what is with the two completely different style of writing and characterization with the two halves of the show?

Yes,my dear (what is your name, if you do not mind?), I agree with you about Jodha, for our Elizabeth cannot by any manner of means be a credulous dimwit! 😉 She is right now on a high, buoyed at the thought of having been able to save Amer, and that keeps her in a sunny haze that blurs all else. Her brain needs to be kickstarted, and that will happen as soon as she sights her patidev-to-be!

I wonder when her 3 bhaisas are going to turn up. Sharifuddin would be jumping thru a hoop on getting the latest diktat from Jalal.

As for your "I'm using my heart to assist my typing fingers, rather than my logical brain. 😆", that it when you strike gold, as in that impassioned take of yours on Jodha's bravery, which had me,for I am honest if nothing else, almost on the backfoot! I loved that post of yours.

As you can see, Pride and Prejudice is one of my very few all times favourites, and I have lost count of the number of times I have read it, beginning at 13. As for the films, I have even seen the 1940 one with Laurence Olivier and Greer Garson, which had all the ladies in entirely non-period hoops and bustles and enormous skirts, very likely rented from the costumier for Gone with the Wind, released just 2 years earlier! Bride and Prejudice was a no no for me too. My favourite is the 1995 A&E- BBC version with Colin Firth, now the gold standard for Mr. Darcy. By the way, have you read the PD James homage to Jane Austen, Death at Pemberley?

I really laughed a lot reading your post , it was interesting n very nicely written.

I must say I always like your Pride n Prejudice references , being an ardent fan of both the book n the movies ( not the Gurindar Chadah one though 😆 ).
I wonder why Mainawati herself isn't taking the step , to tell her daughter the name of her fiance, in stead of pinching n EA-ing her husband ?

Glad that Bharmal atleast admitted straight faced that he lacks the courage to say it to Jodha. Jodha trusts her father rather blindly, so she's in for a rude shock.

As for Jodha ignoring all the S/S of some thing wrong in the wind ( rather thickly perfumed with suspicious events I must say ) but may be these events seem to us more obvious , because we viewers already know exactly what is wrong n Jodha is blissfully unaware.

She has always spent her life in such a family cocoon , that it's quite unimaginable for her that her parents, rather her dear daddy can do this to her . N she did wonder why MP left so abruptly , but as she could find no reason , she gave up the attempt ( I'm not saying she shouldn't have probed it ! Hell this innocence look out towards the world she needs to change big time ! Or else she's in for deep trouble ! ).

I know Jodha has a lot of brain n she can use them very effectively if she puts her mind to it , like recognising Jalal, to giving proper answer back to that sell's woman at Agra bazar, or to Ruqaiya later. But may be lately she has gone through a rough phase which, though she didn't express it to other people , Jodha being Jodha , is still there in the form of deep wound , as we saw her today shedding tears remembering Surya. So , her brains are in a slumber phase right now , she refuses to read the signs , just refuses that some thing worse , much worse may be in store for her.
Would like to know your view as to whether my words make any sense , because I'm using my heart to assist my typing fingers, rather than my logical brain. 😆

But may be that's a better way to read Jodha, the girl is still very much in the grasp of her own heart than her clear, sharp brain. 😳

Aunty I think for the next week also you will not be able to refrain yourself from writing posts as there many more twists are still on the way to come about the marriage ceremony..😊 ..Aunty I think Bharmal clearly said to everyone that no one would tell Jodha right now about her would be husband.. so definitely everyone would not go against the king and would dare to tell Jodha the truth until Bharmal himself unfold it to her. and as Mainawati, dadisa, bhagwandas, sukanya are not telling her anything, though the maids were talking around about her husband but no one would dare to tell it directly to Jodha.. ..And not to mention again how much I felt pity for the new Ruqaiyaa not because her hubby is going to marry again but for her dumbness,.. we, who used to fascinate about the character once upon a time, are no longer able to bear the dullness.🤢.. jalal clearly said MM that a new palace is to be made for Jodha, and obviously that will be in agra,, then why Ruqu is still not curious about for whom the palace is or if the work has not started yet. I think at those ancient times building a palace must have needed a long time than current age. So why Ruqu is still so calm, what is going on at agra,no information at all provided..
