If they showed ruqaiya and Salima and other women the mOvie would have been really lOng and this one is a daily soap. So they are showing everything.

Yes, my point precisely. The movie was a summarized version. But a daily soap is supposed to last for at least a year. And if they cut out all the parts about Jalal's other wives, what else is there to show, that the movie hasn't done already? If you really think about it, there is not much to the story of Jalal and Jodha. Hence, they need other things to fill in the gaps. And plotting of wars and politics do not interest Indian audience, as is evident from the current trp-chart.

Agree with u. It is leaving a bitter taste. But i do understand that this is a serial so they do need some other elements to give a long run. Then too i'm not ready to accept this. They should have thought that it may lessen the magic of akdha love story. Ekta should have toned it down. As per the facts jallal's age should be around 19 or 20 when she met jodha. And at that age having so many wives or mistresses is not digestible. And now this farida's pregnancy thing is not necessary. Only ekta know's how she's gonna take the story further. Hope she gives a magical love story of akdha without her saas-bahu soap twists n turns.

I didn't say ignore, but I feel this version of Jalal's life is exaggerated. I mean just count the number of women. Before Jodha, he had 2 wives. I have no idea how many mistresses he had, and I have not seen that information when I researched his life. But the number of women on this show feels like a little too much to me. Besides, I doubt Jalal's wives would mix with his mistresses. This show makes it seem as if his mistresses have the same right as his wives. And Ruqaiya, his wife, keeps proving to others that she is the most important but why would she have to prove anything to mistresses? She is above any mistress on any given day just by being his wife. Maybe I am lacking an understanding of the Mughal empire, but in most empires in history wife trumps mistress. And even if Fareeda was carrying Jalal's child, it would be considered a bas***d right. Since they aren't married.

Besides, the cleanliness of the show was what I absolutely loved. I don't really find such movies anymore which scream innocence. It was just so refreshing. There's nothing wrong with shows that aren't exactly innocent- heck most my favorite shows are far from innocent, Game of Thrones anyone- but it's a nice change sometimes.
Also, I don't mind more than one women in other shows, but when you claim eternal love...I can't digest it. (Actually scratch that...I dont think even in other shows I like more than one woman. Most shows I watch are American or British and there never are 2 or more wives in these shows.) I cannot understand how you are supposed to love only one and yet have so many women. Women who have the same right as your supposed one and true love. Does not make any sense to me. Like I said call me a romantic.
P.S. I think I will get used to it though. I already dont feel disgusted by the women...thats a good sign. But it still doesn't change that I dont like it.

I thought harem referred to a place for mistresses. Obviously I was wrong. I probably thought that because what we think of a harem now: The wives (or concubines) of a polygamous man.

why cant they take liberties in over look on this mistress part. why cant they just show his 2 main consorts his two main queens before jodha i.e. Ruqayya sultan, salima sultan .. there is no doubt in the authenticity of this. so if they r taking o much liberties in Rajput side to over look their strict rulz why cant they take fictional liberties to over look this harem side also...btw mughal harem means the separate place for royal females and royal house hold no male inspite of royal family members were allowed there... even no soldiers
in today epi maha manga also mentioned to bairam khan that he came for her in harem.. MM hamida bano all live in harem part of palace.

something about Akbar's Harem

Unlike many others, Akbar used political marriages to cement ties with other kingdoms. These marriages came about when kingdoms submitted before him, either peacefully or after defeat in war. Virgin daughters of these Kings were converted to Islam prior to their marriage. By the end of his life, his harem had over 6000 women.in fact, one of the greatest shames endured by the Rajput nobility of what is now Rajasthan was having their daughters being forced to enter Akbar's harem.
