True, my dear (what is your name, if you do not mind?), he loves her in so many ways.
Reminds me of the old song,
How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.
I am continually amazed at the degree of indulgence he has for her. Imagine an emperor being kept waiting by his begum, and then being scolded for wearing his joothis in bed and soiling her chadar! That was so much like a wife nagging her husband about leaving wet towels on the bed that I was in stitches.
But there is no demonstrative tenderness between them, they are too used to sparring with each other, like siblings, so they have never seen the need for it. She does not, for example, take his head in her lap, caress his hair and his forehead, or hold him to her. That kind of touchy feely affection is not there. If it had, that would have been an additional bonding element. There has to be a yearning to be with each other - a sort of passion, a
deewangee, and this has to be shown. It seems right now to be there to some extent on his side; there is none on hers.
I also feel that she is being too complacent about the relationship. I did not like the way she left him and went off with that Hoshiyar to sort out harem squabbles, or when she kept him waiting that night. This when he has returned to her after months ! The only excuse would be a demanding baby, and there is none here. It is all right so long as he seems not to mind, but one day he will. Even an ordinary husband would not like it, and this is an emperor! She should be more careful, and more sensitive to his susceptibilities. even if he says nothing. She is in for a rude shock one of these days, and it will largely her own doing.
As for Jodha, she is supposed to be very beautiful, which Ruqaiya is not. Next she detests Jalal, and so taming her will be a challenge unlike any other, and will preoccupy him for a good long while, In the process, he might become enamoured by other aspects of her personality, and begin to fall in love in the one way he does not with Ruqaiya, romantically. It might become the deewangee that is missing in his bond with Ruqaiya. That is why I say she should beware, but of course she will not.

The whole thing about Suryabhan and Jodha "the Jhansi ki Rani" was just hilarious!! 🤣
" I am tired of Jodha's endless calls for Jalal's head and her fiery fulminations, of a piece with those of Suryabhan Singh. They make her look and sound like Jhansi ki Rani on speed."
Btw Shyamala aunty absolutely agree with this:
That is precisely it: there are many interpretations of love, and this meeting of minds is one of them.
To me, Jalal already loves Ruqaiya in every way, don't know what else kind of love there is left for him to have for Jodha.

You, my dear, have a pronounced flair for the comic! @ purple is SO funny! I was left wondering which other parts she should look out for now!
Suryabhan would be better off talking to himself, then he will bore only himself stiff and spare the rest of us. He begins to remind me of Mr. Collins in Pride and Prejudice.
The two of them look at all those unfortunate dead soldiers, and he starts off like one of those old LPs stuck in one place - ek ek boond khoon ka hisaab dena hoga! You send a posse of 20 after one man and he kills all of them, and what do you do? Wonder about HOW he did that and try and assess your enemy's strengths, or behave as though he should have done their aarti? And Jodha stares at the dead men as if she had never seen war dead in her life.
Well, I hope there is something of Ruqaiya today.

PS: When I said Jhansi ki Rani on speed, I meant the hallucinogen, but your sense is the same, so never mind!
