What went wrong with Ameya Date

He is still best. Feel hurts whenever i think of his elimination in II and JJWS. He along with Abhijeet are two favorite singer

Amey would have done alot better on JJWS if he was on the show as a challenger from the beginning of the show...by the time he came everyone already had their favs and the new format didn't help him much either!!

What chance was given to Amey in JJWS????? ...he was brought in ....he gave a stupendous performance next week with Layi vi naa gayee along with Abhi and then was dumped by the channel for reasons only known to them ..I will say dumped because even a ravinder pajii would sound better in front of that crazyyy 4 number by any established singer ( I can't even use the word song bec that would be an insult to the word )......

So yaa..Amey is still the best but luck doesn't favor him for some reasons ...and I don't remember him that well 10 years ago but i became his fan with this perf ...

I don't think Amey came adequately prepared. Clearly, he was added to the show at short notice (a similar comment applies to Rex, who appeared with him in Episode 11.) Not only was he not at his best, but he had some bad luck too.

In Episode 11, Amit Sana finished in the top 3 and was selected unanimously by the Champions for promotion. Amit wasn't at his best either (actually, that's an understatement) and just as clearly, he was chosen because he was weak. Strategic voting had started by then, so Amey basically had no shot that week even if he had made it to the top 3 (he barely missed).

The following week, Episode 13 was even worse for him: though he aced with a 30, the champions unanimously selected Himani from the top 3, for precisely the same reasons as the week before -- with the same outcome as the week before (for Amit Sana): promotion and prompt elimination.

At this point, Amey probably lost heart too. The next week, in Episode 15, they brought back a whole bunch of wild cards (including Himani from a dismissal about ten minutes before!!), and he chose or had chosen for him a complete loser of a song. He had no realistic chance anyway, regardless of how well he might have performed that week.

But your basic point is well-taken. He was not an improved singer after all this time.

And what say: would anyone in the present group have ventured "laaga chunri mein daag" under any circumstances? ;-)

Low confidence is not good for singing at all so we can safely conclude that Amey's exodus was a result of
channel politics and poor preparation.

Any culture vanishes when patronage stops, singers of Ameya breed don't have any patronage and they will extinct, there is no market demand for them. This is because of the reason that we are not making anymore semi classical songs or raaga based songs. So this new hybrid variety compositions can be sung by people like Himesh to Vishal Dadlnai. The basic reason of converting SRGM format into a hip hop gharana (misnomer) based competition was that the old fromat was unable to attract audience.

Amey is awesome trained singer but luck does not seems to be with him 😳

Nope Aneek Ameya and Abhijeet can't be compared, Ameya at one time was too good..
