ABOUT THE SHOW

Inspired by the 'Spice Girls' phenomenon, the STAr Network rolled out its first reality hunt for India's Pop Stars. Since then the country has been hit by a wave of reality shows. Reality (Talent) shows like Indian Idol, Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, Supersinger, Fame Gurukul not only raised crores in revenue for the Broadcasters and did wonders for their ratings; they also presented the Indian audience with new set of screen idols.

Reality shows offer more than just 15 minutes of fame. They represent the hopes, dreams and aspiration of the masses... They give them heroes that they can worship and live vicariously through their achievements. The bond between the junta and their janardans is indeed a strong one.

THE CONCEPT
For the first time, presenting a reality show where ALL the heroes across ALL the singing reality shows compete on ONE single stage.

But there is a twist in the story.
There won't just be the winners of these talent hunts competing with each other but also the second favourites or the runner- ups of those same shows who almost took the title away from these Heroes. And after the battle is through, there will be only one real victor of the Showdown.

THE SHOW FORMAT

The format of Jo Jeeta Wohi Super Star centers on the following elements:
1. The Teams: There are two teams on the show: The Champions and The Challengers

2. The Champions: are the title winners of all the various singing talent hunt shows such as Indian Idol, Zee Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, Voice of India etc. There are 6 Champions on the show.

3. The Challengers are the runner-ups or the ones who almost stole the titles from the winners but did not make the cut. There are 12 Challengers on the show.

4. First part of the competition (the Friday episode) - The show will first have the Challengers battle it out amongst themselves every week to make the cut to the Champions side.

5. Second part of the competition (the Saturday episode) - One Challenger joins the Champions every week in order to compete alongside them at an equal platform. Basis their performances, the audience and the jury votes decide who will stay on and which one of them will be eliminated the next week.

6. Judgement of the first part: The first part of the competition involves the Challengers solo performances. Here, every week the panel of Jury awards them marks basis this performance. Once we have the top three Challengers for that day as per the judges points, the Champions cast in their votes for those top three Challengers. These votes are not divulged in the same episode. These additional marks added to the judge's score determine which one of the three Challengers moves on to the Champion's side that week in order to compete with them.

7. Judgement of the second part: This Challenger who has crossed over to the Champions side is now also addressed as a Champion. The second part of the competition involves the Champions performing solo's. All these performances are then marked by the panel of jury. However, their marks have only 50% of weightage. The other 50 % of weightage is given to the audience votes. Hence, at the end of each Saturday episode, voting lines are opened to the home- audiences. The result is finally declared on the next Friday episode where a combination of the Jury's marks and the audience votes determines the scores for the Champions. The Champion with the least amount of cumulative score is then eliminated from the competition. (This eliminated Champion could be anyone: One of the original Champion's or the Challenger who had moved to their side.)

8. The Week 8 Twist: The above process is followed week on week till Week 8. In week 8, there are 5 Challengers left. Now only one of these 5 makes it to the Champion's side. The other 4 are eliminated.

9. Week 9-11: From Week 9 onwards, we have only the Champion's league left (In an ideal situation, this could be a mix of the original Champions and the Challengers). Thus, on every Friday all remaining Champions perform solo's. The Jury marks this performance. This day's score is carried forward to the next day and it has 25% weightage in the overall score. The next day, i.e. the Saturday episode, the Champion's perform Duets with an Industry playback singer. The jury yet again marks them on this performance (the weightage of these marks are another 25 %) and simultaneously, the voting lines are opened for the audience. The audience voting has a 50 % weightage in the overall results. Hence, the Results= 25% jury marks on Fri + 25% jury marks on Sat + 50% of audience votes. The Champion with the least amount of cumulative score is then eliminated next week. This process is followed till Week 11.

10. Week 12: The first episode of this week, i.e. the Friday episode begins with the elimination of the Champion with the least amount of score and leaves us with the top 3 Finalists. The top 3 Champions perform and are marked by the judges. The next day, i.e. the Sat episode will see the top three finalists perform live at a ground event while the audience votes keep coming in. The cumulative score of the Jury and the audience votes finally give us the Ultimate winner- The one Champion and the Final Superstar.
