Reason being for most TV stars shelvelife is as long as the show is on air ,in sanaya's case she managed to stay in focus inspite of chanchan and RR floped ,and for so long ,that got her jalak too

Only a few actresses are able to do that

PS -popularity means do people know who she is ,know her work ,know that she's a star ,not whether people will vote for her

Well i'll be honest .i am from pakistan we do not usually watch running-for-years indian serials.My whole family and whole circle recognize only one indian drama actress and that is sanaya,she got MOUNTAIN HUGE recognition from is pyar ko and after that people started to follow her. Coming to jdj not only the host but the judges have mentioned it time to time how popular sanaya is.Undoubtedly she got the highest of votes which people would never like to accept.Colors have been giving trophies to popular faces only and this time in the re-loaded thing they wanted to prove the point that they don't just let the popular face win.Other wise if faisal was competing in the last season he'd have lost to popularity for sure.

My cousins just watch the shows and don't bother to find the real name of the main leads. It's only i these TV actors join Politics like Smriti Irani or Bollywood, they are known but still they don't earn that much popularity and it's not good to make fun if anyone does say that they don't know your favorite celeb. Not everyone in the world knows every popular celeb on this earth. 😆

This is the sum-up point of the whole thread for me.

If you or your circle doesn't know a particular celeb or personality that doesn't meant they are not popular.Some where sanaya is known and popular and some where others are.Sanaya has managed to achieve more popularity than other tv actresses .i don't know why to demean.

JDJ is not the right platform to judge her popularity since 50%contestants are popular and in demand and the rest are velle. Now who knows she belongs to which category.

And please dont compare her with tulsi aka smriti irani. She is the hrd minister. She would have been famous even if she never did kyunki thanks to her political career. And back in 2000 tv shows were a rage...kyunki, kahaani, kasauti. The whole family would sit together and watch from 9-11 pm. After that not a single show could match their popularity.
