Yes, I definitely think DD is overrated. I didn't really like her acting in DMG, it was OTT. In Geet, she would go from being OTT to average back and forth. And now in MB she is average. Perhaps she will become better, but for now I say she is lucky she has great dialogue writer on the show as well as a well-developed storyline as far as love-hate romance shows go, since it's rating more than what the usual love-hate romanctic dramas do.

As for the comments about bubbly characters getting popular on IF, I totally agree, it's a trend I've noticed in the past couple of years.

Although I do slightly disagree on Sanaya Irani being overrated. I was not an avid watcher/fangirl of IPK nor am I Sanaya/Barun fan. I thought IPK was interesting at times in storyline and sometimes it was downright boring, which is expected in a daily soap. As for Sanaya, while in the beginning of IPK, I thought she was just average and not pulling the character off at all. As the show went on though, she improved as an actress, and started making me believe/love/feel for Khushi Kumari Gupta. Sanaya definitely grew as an actress on IPK.

Again, I did say slightly disagree, and that is because as mentioned before, the tendency for a certain internet fan following jumps leaps and bounds when an actress plays a chulbuli, bubbly character. In that sense, I do agree that Sanaya can be overrated, as well as other actresses who have played such characters.

Their acting chops are only proven/tested when they can not only pull off chulbuli, bubbly characters, but different types of characters as well.

Additionally, as was mentioned before in some previous posts, I disagree that TRPs are a logical proof of that talent. Popularity of a show is based on how relatable the storyline/characters are to the masses. Great acting matters in pushing that popularity above and beyond, but one must have a strong foundation with a well-written script/characters. Again, great writing and great acting can bring a show to greatness/popularity, but sometimes it does not. For example, Sony had all these new YRF shows with great talent/writing, but they didn't rate enough bc the masses did not connect to it. Certain shows like DABH, SNS, and YRKKH rate a lot of bc of such insipid saas bahu tracks.

Unfortunately, we can also see this mirrored somewhat in the film industry where massy, diluted films like Dabangg, Singham, Ra.One, Dabangg 2, Ready, Son of Sardaar, Bodyguard, Rowdy Rathore, and more that I'm forgetting make the so-called, elite "100 crore club" that make a lot of money yet don't hold much importance/value to Indian cinema in the long-run.

I am not here to cater to any fan bases or anger them, this is just my perspective of how I see the hindi tv/film industry. I am not above being a fan of a certain actor/actresses's work, but that doesn't mean one should overlook certain glaring truths/flaws because of my own admiration/appreciation.
