Like how there were formula films in Hindi movies in the 70's & 80's which ensured commercial success, these days even the so called REALITY SHOWS follow a formula for success which is :
Shocking Elimination + Wild Card = Success + High TRP
I think those people who blame contestants and camps for putting pressure on channels for having wild card rounds are totally wrong as it is not their fault and it is all pre-decided. Non of the shocking removals are for real, they are not based on marks or votes but they are pre-planned for sure. It is a gimmick which every show pulls off and it has given 100% success.
So it is not that Prachi was eliminated due to low votes or wild card is due to Balaji pressure, but this was decided much before when the show had not even begun (although I feel the contestant is not decided till they have gauged their popularity). For example :
1. Kash-Krush were having highest score and were voted out (infact with the current format of NB3 of 50% judges + votes it is mathematically impossible for them to get out even if they have the lowest votes since they have 6 judges points + 1 point for lowest votes makes it 7 points, I challenge any mathematician to take me on for this). They went out in a huff, created a stir and were back through wild card. Just a predecided ploy. They will be in Top 3 or 2.
2. Toshi was removed when he always scored highest and so was Abhas. Their ouster created a stir, TRP increased and they both were in via wildcard and were in top 4.
3. Raja hassan was eliminated and brought back by wild card and he was in the finals. His fan following only increased and so did the TRP
4. Amit Paul was taken out and came in via wild card, had increased populartity and reached the finals
5. Diwakar (SRGMP) was taken out by judges, got back via wild card and was in the finals.
6. Amit Sana was taken out then brought back through wild card, he came to finals (however I feel this was genuine as the reality scene was not so corrupted as it was the 1st such show)
These channels play smart by removing a very popular contestant (not on score on votes), they judge as to who's removal will cause major Stirring of emotions of fans and then when they have worked up the emotions and a debate, they bring them back which ensures that their TRPs go up and also the popularity of the contestant (thats why the contestant plays along since he knows that he will be back and it adds to his popularity).
Generally the channel guys do the shock treatment during some imp episode like Diwali/Eid or when some top notch guest is arround or their TRPs are lower than competitors.
This formula I think will be seen even in the other future programmes like Jhoom India. After some time when people get wise enough they will look to develop a new formula for success.
