Please clarify Akashdeep!
The actor will have to confirm or deny his comments to the media on his ouster from 'Jhalak..'
Sony Entertainment Television has taken umbrage to Akashdeep Sehgal's comments in various media reports since the announcement of his elimination from the dance based show 'Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa..' (Sony). The media notice sent by the channel states that "..by such expressions in the public domain, Akashdeep has breached our legal obligatory contract and mutual trust".
Akashdeep's allegations, about being unfairly ousted due to the "incompetency" of the judges, have not been taken lightly by the channel. His contract bars him from commenting on the show post elimination and he has been asked by the channel to confirm all his quotes as reported by the media.
The creative chief of the channel, Sandip Sikcand says, "We have to safeguard our interests. His comments have not only maligned the show's format but also damaged the channel's credibility. It is a concept and one has to realize that. Questioning the authenticity or credibility of the format and our judges is just not on! The judge's decision and the verdict of the audiences are final. We stand by their decision and no one has a right to question it."
He adds, "If we are dissatisfied with his response to the matter, the channel reserves the right to take necessary action including termination of his contract and also excluding him from the grand finale of the show where all eight couples will be back to dance."
On the other hand, his chorographer Bindi says that she had expected this volatile outburst from him, on hearing that they were eliminated. "After Farah had criticised his time wasting tactics last week, Akashdeep was very agitated and had not slept for days. The tikka bit in our performance was very sacred to him and to be criticised for that was too much for him to handle."
Revealing on what she went through to work with him, she says, "He would interfere with everything from camera angles, lighting, songs, costumes and even choreography. And I went along because otherwise he would have screamed that he wanted another choreographer and no one would have seen how hard I worked on him or what I had to put up with. Had he just stuck to learning how to dance from me, I am sure we would have still been a part of the contest."
Akashdeep says he has yet to receive the notice from the channel and would comment only after seeing it.
