I HAVE ALWAYS BELIEVED IN FOLLOWING MY HEART ... says actor Madhuri Dixit Nene in an exclusive interview with Ahmedabad Times Deepika Sahu With her million dollar smile, she can still win million hearts. And shes Indias dhak-dhak girl.Madhuri Dixit Nene has carved a niche for herself in the celluloid history of India. After 25 years, people in India are still mad about Madhuri. Shes come a long way from her role in Abodh to many blockbusters which are still talked about.Right now,she is also a winner on the small screen. And she soaks in it all beautifully.Madhuri was in Ahmedabad to promote her new food reality show Maha Challenge Kitchen ka boss kaun which will see men and women battling for kitchen supremacy.Shes the one who has given Hindi film industrys one of the biggest grossers and years after trade pundits still refer to Hum Aapke Hain Koun... ! as a perfect example of creating storms at the BO.Millions across the globe still remember her for films like Tezaab,Dil,Prahaar,Saajan,Dil Toh Pagal hai and many more. She lit up the screen even without make-up in Parinda.Taking a retro look at her chequered career, she says with a smile,It has been a beautiful journey.I have enjoyed facing the camera. For me,cinema is an art and I see it a wonderful combination of dance, acting and much more. For somebody in front of whom success takes a bow,its difficult not to ask how she defines success Success is happiness. If I am happy in my career, family life then in the end I am a successful person. If I am not happy within me,then success in terms of box office wont really matter much. Right now, shes busy reading scripts and shes ready to come back on the silver screen if she comes across a suitable role. What inspired her to take up the role of judging a food reality show She says,I follow my heart and I have always lived like that. So,in this case, its heart through stomach.I love cooking and on Sundays,we cook with our close friends at home. Those cooking sessions sprinkled with laughter and friendship are great fun. Ask her about the secret of her flawless skin and enviable beauty and she breaks into a heartwarming smile and says,Eat,love and pray.I am really thankful to God for giving me so much.I never brood over what I dont have.Apart from enjoying the company of my loved ones,I eat healthy. And as an afterthought, she adds,I just dont believe in dieting.I love my share of ganthia, khandavi and Gujarati kadhi. While growing up in Mumbai, she never thought of becoming an actress. She did aspire to become a micro-biologist.But destiny had willed it otherwise when she signed her first film years ago.And today she says she has no regrets but she would have loved to gather more knowledge on microbiology. So ask her what about doing a Ph D now She gives it a thought and says,Yes,now that I am in USA,theres no age bar to pursue what you desire. So may be I should look at it now. She has been living a quiet life in the United States far from the world of light, camera, action. So does she miss the film industry Shes candid enough to admit that she misses being in front of the camera but not the film industry. And then she answers,I dont get time actually to miss much.My days are absolutely packed. She loves her share of adventure. And now shes taking lessons in taekwondo along with her kids. She says,I am always ready to learn new things.I believe my career, family and interests are all extension of my own self. So,whats on her list now Learning to make tiramisu. deepika.sahu@timesgroup.com Madhuri Dixit Nene |
