Remo D'Souza has come a long way from his Rangeela days; he has made a great transition from being a back up dancer to a film director. One thing which has been constant in this journey is his love for dance and the burning desire to turn a director.

With Faaltu, D'Souza is making his Bollywood debut as a director. However, this is not his first really. "I have directed a Bengali film called Lal Paharer Kotha that is based on Chhau, a tribal dance form in Orissa and West Bengal, and has Mithun Chakraborty in the lead," informs Remo, who initially wanted to make this small-budget, artsy film in Hindi, but resorted to making it in Bengali.

"The film has got a good response at various film festivals, but is yet to see a release in India," says D'Souza.

While Remo has tasted success as a choreographer, he says, "No matter how good a film you make, you won't be considered a successful director until you have tasted commercial success." Which is why he zeroed in on Faaltu ' a film based on students.

"Faaltu is about the so-called average students in our country who don't fail, yet don't manage to score good marks either. It is also about students who score 90% and above, and end up choosing something drastically different as their career," he explains, adding, "Sushant Singh Rajput, a participant in the show Jhalak Dikhla Ja,is the perfect example of someone who is fully faaltu. He is an engineering graduate who is currently pursuing acting."
