Elimination Process

There's one thing I don't understand in the elimination process...instead of announcing who's eliminated in the beginning why would they not do it in the end?? The contestants work hard all week and are all dressed for the performance and then they come to know they are out...i mean atleast they should do the performance even if it for the last time...and not waste their time and energy.
