Ankita Lokhande is from a Maharashtrian family. She born and brought up in Indore by the name of Tanuja and is lovingly called Mintu by her family. Before she trained to be a air hostess but when she decided to take acting as career her parents were quite reluctant, but she succeeded in convincing them and later started getting support from them. She moved to Mumbai in year 2004 as she was selected for Zee Cinestars ki Khoj, but she got big break only in June 2009 in Pavitra Rishta.
She is a high quality dancer. Some time last year she performed on Zee TV's live show . People say she is Vidya Balan of small screen. Many times we see that small screen actors lack fun part (at least that's the perception) but Ankita Lokhande is filled with fun.
Her rise to fame was when she took up the lead role in Balaji's serial Pavitra Rishta that later became the number one show of television. In this top serial she plays a role of Archana Karanjkar. She grabbed this opportunity with both the hands and proved that she is an excellent actress with lot of temperament. This show is one and a half years old now but still gaining popularity and Ankita is definitely main reason for that. In this show her partner is Sushant Singh(as Manav) who acted in Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil before Pavitra Rishta.She is currently participating as a participant in Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 4 with Nishant Bhatt as well.
