hey guys...today's was by far one of the best episodes of Jhalak i've seen this season...and so i couldn't resist doing a bit of my own dissection of each performance...here goes...
Hard Kaur and Savio : add a nice swishy pink dress, blindfolds, salsa and Hard Kaur...and what you get is a smashing 28 for a salsa to one of the most unexpected tracks yet - a non-remixed version of Bachke Rehna Re Baba...and after that performance i guess everyone got the message...!! aside from a couple of clumsy moments, i thought she was great...i agreed with Juhi for a change...their start was a tad bit shaky, blindfold jitters i guess, but they picked up...and some of those lifts were stunning...

My take : agree with the total, but would have changed the distribution...Juhi's 8 sticks out like a sore thumb, especially in the light of her 10 to Baichung despite the same flaw...😕
Karan and Nicole : honestly...so far their best performance...tops You're My Love basically coz of the blindfold and the surprisingly more complicated than usual choreography...there were no excuses for Karan this time...it was Salsa, and he had to do it right...the posture, the stance, the precision...and did he get it right or what...tw...the song, the mood, the steps, the chemistry and the moments where he'd flash his signature smile...full on dude...! and the whole thing with the blindfold...the less said the better...it's been discussed enough...for me, what matters is how he performed, and i've got no complaints there...no complaints at all...

My Take : 👍🏼 wouldv'e given him a 29, with one mark cut for any little fumble here and there...sorry guys...i'm like my mum when it comes to scores...find it very hard to give full to anyone...some kind of disorder...hehe...😆
Gauhar and Himanshu : interesting concept...some great input from Gauhar...and some good choreography too...didn't find anything wrong with the performance at all...she dances really well, the steps were great, and special mention to her expression which were outstanding throughout the routine...the only thing i felt i guess is that this was one of those routines where everything's good but there's this sense of wanting something more in it...can't define what...but i felt there was something missing...lack of a "wow" factor, like our judges so like to put it...hope she gets it better next time...

My Take : 😊 would've given her a 27 overall...
Parul and Deepak : everything was right with their performance...and then it all went wrong...and i agree with the judges, it's the petals that did them in...coz not only did Parul lose her balance throughout the performance, but the slide - that could have been superlative if executed completely - went awry at the last moment as she slipped when he pulled her up...and she got entangled with the elastic band omewhere iniddle, which was covered smartly by Deepak, but threw them off a bit...but overall, i could tell that had the petals not been there, this could have been one hell of a performance...seriously...the routine was a great one, and had everything going for it...except the rose petls of course...bad day for Parul...sorry...

My Take : i'd give her a 21 overall...she's a great dancer, but in all fairness, the perfomance could have been great but didn't turn out too well sadly...
Monica and Javed : honestly, the BEST performance on this entire season of Jhalak for me...for the first time, one performance that i genuinely felt desered a 30 with a standing ovation, 100 rupee notes and much much more...there was absolutely nothing...NOTHING wanting or in any way flawed about it...the choreography,the expressions, the dance style, the song...and the lift...whoa...has got to be one of the best lifts i've ever seen, and trust me, i've seen quite a few...it was so smooth and flowing and graceful and just...beautiful...can go on and on and on...tw...but will stick with Vaibhavi's stand and shut up...hehe...

My Take : 👏 i swear, if the judges had given her anything short of 30 i would have broken the television screen to get at their throats...hehe...i'd give her 30 all the way...you go girl! and Javed - mind blowing!
Baichung and Sonia : hmm...i really like him, let's first get that straight...he's cute and he works really really hard...and comes up with performances which surpass any expectations i've ever had from him...today's performnce, likewise, was really good...great choreography by Sonia, full marks to her for that...but i felt that there were times when Baichung wasn't doing the footwork of Salsa at all...or he'd take one step forward and backward and then leave it half-way...guess he was nervous about the blindfold...but i don't count that as an excuse...he didn't lip sync at all...nerves again, i guess...but in all fairness if the judges had issues with Karan not lip syncing last time, i don't quite get why they'd spare anyone else for it...but it was nice overall..good effort for me...but not quite there yet..

My Take : 😳 i personally don't think he deserved full marks...no offense to his fans...my purely objective point of view...if they cut marks for HK fumbling, i don't think it's fair to overlook it for him for any reason...so all in all, i'd give him about 24 or 25...fair and square...do better next time dude!
Shilpa and Nishant : first of all, the very idea of a Rumba, the dance of sensual love, in Pantomime was a scary thought for me...until i watched this dude and dudette pull off what i thought was next to impossible...they did absolutely brilliantly...and i didn't even notice the elastic bands coz of the ease with which they used them...a very complete performance for me...concept, choreography, innovation and overall impact...two thumbs up!

My Take : 😎 agree with the overall marks...although i'd add one more for sheer grit to combine Pantomime with Latin Ballroom...so that's a 29...!!
