Nandu is the first one to wake in the morning. With a start he thinks, "Aaj toh meri khair nahin….agar Meghna ko samajh mein aa gaya ki maine hi kal raat wo sab kiya tha, toh wo zaroor sabko batayegi….aur sabse pehle Angel ko……haila, pata nahin wo mera kya haal karegi!" he shudders.
In the meanwhile, Armaan is already out of bed and sneaking down to wake Jassi (probably to compensate for the previous night's interruption?😳). This time she is in bed, and is a bit dazed as Armu stealthily shakes her awake. Struggling to suppress their giggles, they sneak out of the verandah towards the mustard fields, glowing yellow in the dawn. 😛
Contrary to their belief, someone is watching them. Bua has just stirred and opened one eye when she sees the two stealing out. Chuckling softly to herself, she smiles an indulgent smile and rolls over for another snooze.
Holding Jassi's hand tightly (possessively?😳) in his own, Armaan leads her gently towards the nearby fields, with an almost uncanny knowledge of the area. Jassi gasps, "Armaan! Tum toh aise chal rahe ho jaise tumhe poori jagah ke bare mein pata hai!"
Armu: (smiling adoringly….and adorably) Jassi, pichli baar jab hum yahan aaye the, tab inhi kheton mein toh hum log ghanton tak ghoomte rehte the…. (ahem ahem…..wonder what they used to do all those hours alone in the fields!😉)….wo yaadein ab tak mere saath hai…..main aakhir iss jagah ke bare mein kaise kuch bhool sakta hun?
Jassi lays her head on his shoulder. Both gaze at the rising sun, casting its ethereal glowover the fields. A breeze whispers through the crops, gently ruffling their hair. Armaan sighs in satisfaction. "Jassi, yahaan kitni shaanti hai…..door-door tak koi awaaz nahin….kaash hum hamesha aise hi reh sakte…."
Jassi mumbles something indecipherable and happy. He gently puts his hand under her chin and raises it towards him. As he claims the kiss they were cheated out of last night, the camera pans to the sun who seems to blushing pink watching them.😳
Angel screws up her nose in disgust as she comes out of the rustic loo of the house. "Yech! How disgusting! At least iss ghar mein proper loo toh hona chahiye tha! Na flush work karta hai, na toilet paper hai….kaisi primitive conditions mein rehna pad raha hai mujhe……mujhe, Angel Suri ko!"
She spies Meghna chuckling to herself and thinks furiously, "Yeh sab iss Meg ski galti se hua hai….na usse uss pir-baba-whatever se milne ka shauk chadhta, na wo yahan aane ke liye ready hoti…aur mujhe bhi achcha excuse mil jaata Mumbai mein rukne ka….upar se iski stoopid ghost stories……Meghna Seth, tum jaise dost ho toh enemies ki kya zaroorat hai!"
Meghna, meanwhile, is blissfully ignorant of the murderous thoughts in her friend's mind. She goes to look for Nandu, who nearly runs for it when he sees her. But she catches up and he has no option than to greet her with an artificial smile pasted on his face.
Meg: (slyly) Nandu, mujhe ek doubt hai…..
Nandu : (nervously) Doubt? Kaisa doubt?
Meg: Hmmm….bas mujhe ek cheez strike ki…..ki kal raat, wo saari ghost story tumne sunayi…..Puru uncle ke saamne tumne mujhe kuch batane ka muaka nahin diya….aur aaj subah se tum mujhe avoid kar rahe ho…..
Nandu: (warily) Toh? Main samjha nahin…..iss sab se kya prove hota hai?
Meg: (grinning) Ki kal raat Angel ne jo suna, wo great-great grandma ka ghost nahin, living-breathing Nandan Verma tha!
Nandu stares at her like a deer looking at its predator.😕
