I personally don't care if my defense is vindicated or not..Mona's life is her own..& the show is, after all, no more. BUT, everyone has a right to not only HAVE an opinion, but CHANGE their opinions. I can bet my life that not ONE person out there or even here on I-F has had the same stance on something for their whole lives. I said it before & I'll say it again using this one situation as a specific: When Mona said in an interview that she was tired of playing Jassi & then in a later one, she said she'd love to be known as Jassi for a long time to come..there is a difference. She said that she's tired of PLAYING Jassi..the CHARACTER'S ROLE..that doesn't mean that she didn't love the role or that she never wants to be associated with it. Then, once she said that yes, they should end JJKN..WHICH, by the way, EVERY cast member said..just maybe not in print..but they've def. said it to me when I've asked. Mona was the main lead..of course they're going to print her interviews more than anyone else's. And, then in another interview, she said she was so sad when the show ended. A ton of people here jumped down her throat for making a contradictory statement. THINK ABOUT IT. When they took the first interview, she couldn't have guessed how she was going to feel when the time actually came to end the show that made her a household name for generations. You can't hold someone's statements in stone..feelings change, emotions change..OPINIONS change..it all depends on WHEN you're asked & @ WHAT POINT in life. I mean, come on..the whole cast wanted the show to end b.c they saw exactly what all of us as fans saw..the show was stagnating. So, just because they didn't say anything about it..or b.c they weren't ASKED about it in print, that means it's alright for us to pounce on Mona b.c her EVERY MOVE is looked upon with a hawk eye? Use Shilpa Saklani's old interview if you want. She had said that she was willing to expose for a role..now, do you REALLY think that she'd say the same thing if she were to be asked that same question today? Are you going to crucify her for changing her stance on her personal decisions?

I will reiterate..a celebrity is a human..Mona is Mona..Mona is NOT Jassi. And YES, she has said in interviews that "I am Jassi" but she never meant that Jassi was her identity! Come on, now..she meant that certain characteristics of Jasmeet Walia were like Mona Singh..it's high time that we learned how to separate REEL life characters from their REAL life counterparts.

Well, this is going to be my last post in this thread either way but Buffie, I envy you if in your life, all of your experiences have either been strictly good or strictly bad. There is no such thing as black & white in real life..gray is what surrounds us. ESPECIALLY in experiences..I'll even use ME as an example. I had a relationship w.someone. If I think about it now, SOMETIMES I think it was the best thing in the world & I don't regret it @ all despite the way it ended..OTHER TIMES, I look back & say, my G-D, what the hell!? If I could go back, I'd never date the guy to begin with. There's an experience..not good, not bad..but BOTH depending on when I think about it. Coming to school..I took a 3 year break after graduating college before starting medical school..I can look back & say, man, I wasted a lot of time, I would've been 3/4 done by now..& I also look back & say, wow, I've done a lot in those 3 years..another experience..not good, not bad..BOTH.

If you can experience things in strictly a positive or negative way, I say again..I envy you.

Ahhh Buffie, you alwaysss make me want to respond!!! Heehee..personally, I don't think Shilpa exposed on Nach Baliye or @ parties..but again, in different parts of the world, exposure is different, of course. To me, a tube top or a short dress or a midriff baring top are not exposure..but I was born & raised in New York so I understand different points of view. I'm pretty sure she meant exposing in a Bipasha Basu-Jism/Neha Dhupia-Julie type of way.

As for Mona, AS ALWAYS, Buffie..let's just agree to disagreeeeeee. ;-)

Since you have mentioned Ash, Buffie, just let me inform you that Ash gave a LOT or contradictory interviews regarding her love life and has in fact told blatant lies.

When she was dating Salman Khan, she was asked innumerable times whether he was physically abusing her or not; and every single time, she would say, "Of course not; salman is my very good friend and he would never do a thing like that. ANd do you think that a modern emancipated woman like me (or something to the effect) would put up with that?"

But the moment the relationship turned sordid, she gave that long martyred interview in whih she said that she had been subjected to physical and mental "torture" in her last relationship. Now when she denied having the relationship in the first place, how did the man ever get the opportunity to abuse her?

Obviously, the earlier statements were a desperate attempt to save the relationship, and once it no longer served its purpose, she thought it was time to gain sympathy by letting out the truth.

So you see, no one is a paragon of virtue. EVERY celebrity has at some time or the other lied or tried to cover the truth. ASk yourself--are you truthful ALL the time? it is just that we ordinary ppl are not scrutinised so minutely as celebs so we get a holier-than-thou kick out of villifying them for their slip-ups.

Maybe i am guilty of it too...who knows?
