Review Fun 'n' togetherness Anything, But Love Directed by Vikranth Pawar Starring Mandira Bedi and Samir Soni Choosing a life partner is like choosing the right mobile network service. Initially, everything is hunky dory. It is only later that the hidden costs emerge. The play Anything, But Love is a realistic comedy about modern-day marriages. Anish (Samir Soni) and Seema (Mandira Bedi) bump into each other five years after their divorce (after a five-year marriage) and realise they are still attracted to each other. Their lives swing between their respective shrinks. She is aghast at his choice of "landings and takeoffs" of the younger women while Anish is amused at her choice of a much younger husband. Anish refuses to accept that their relationship is over, more so because he is unable to come to terms with growing older. Ditto with Seema, but she believes there is a life beyond their relationship. The play ends with 'yet another inevitable meeting' which may eventually bring them back together again. The contemporary theme has attracted a huge audience, especially young couples. Into its fifth show now, Anything, But Love has been running to a packed audience every Sunday evening in Mumbai. |
