| Sushmita Sen and Ravi Gossain match steps for a song sequence on the sets of Chingari | Remember the guy who gets blown up by a bomb in his cycle in Gulzar's Maachis? Ravi Gossain, aka Chaman (of Sony's Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin) once had no time to spare from the TV grind; he was doing four shows on air — Amanat (Zee), Bahuraniyan (B4U), Kartavya (Zee), Gaatha (Star Plus) and Kabhi Ghar Mein Bhuchaal Aata Hai (Star Plus). "I had no time to myself. I had become a slave," says Gossain. Big screen bonanza
Gossain will soon be seen in two films, where he'll rub shoulders with Mahima Chaudhary in The Film and Sushmita Sen in Chingari.
"In The Film, I play the role of a music director. And in Chingari, I am a Bihari man, Chintu, who's gay." Ravi is thrilled about sharing screen space with both his leading ladies. "In Chingari, I play a mochi, darzi, nachaniya and gavahiya. Thus, I have few dances with Sushmita," adds Gossain, who was also seen as Seema Biswas's son in Hazaar Chaurasi Ki Ma.
Gossain gayab kyun hua?
There's a reason why Gossain eased up on his television work. "I was focussing on films. I signed four films and three out of those never got made — Trikaal (Om Puri, Irrfan Khan), The Night (with newcomers) and a South film. I did Raja Bhaiyya with Govinda and Pyar Koi Khel Nahin with Sunny Deol, but both bit the dust." Things are looking up for this actor, as he has signed on for some interesting films.
"I have signed Ek Main Aur Ek Tu, which has an all new cast. I am also very excited about Agreement, which stars Victor Banerjee, Govind Namdeo, and Rati Agnihotri. I want to bounce back in a big way," he adds. vickey.lalwani@mid-day.com |
