If i am not wrong then the word commitment refers to the situation when the other person whom u r committing to is also expecting something from u so i don't know from where this commitment word came
Search the meaning of commitment on web and u will see a phrase "MARRIAGE IS NO LONGER ALWAYS SEEN AS A COMMITMENT" i think that sums up everything.
