CHAPTER 24
Siddharth broke down at once unable to contain himself. He wailed like a child in her arms..she stroked his hairs understanding his situation.
Tears made way out of her eyes too remembering the past few days..
FLASHBACK (3 months ago)
"Sid when is your concert?" asked Roshni adjusting his tie and combing his hair with her hands.
"Aye haye my wife cares so much about me." he said flirting with her holding her hand.
"Shut up!" she said handing him his wallet and watch.
"Ok concert is tonight at 8!" said Siddharth kissing her forehead before leaving.
Later In The Evening
"Sid.." she could not continue further.
The phone fell from Sid's hands and all around people eyed him as tears fell from his eyes.
"Sid..sid.." Roshni shouted over the phone but no voice came from the other end.
At The Hospital
"You can see her!" said the doctor after the red light of the Operation Theatre was on.
"Is she fine?" Siddharth asked hopeful even when he knew the answer.
"We could not save her.." said the doctor keeping a comforting hand on his shoulder.
"Mom..." he wailed out. Roshni supported him and he hugged her tightly.
The attachment he had with Simran was beyond words. Roshni too was devasted but made herself strong for him.
PRESENT
"Siddharth how come you sang today?" Roshni asked getting him up!
"Because of you my strength , my love!" Siddharth said reminding her of what had happened a month back.
FLASHBACK (1 month ago)
"Baby , come on eat the food!" Roshni told him concerned.
"No.." he replied bluntly.
"Ofcourse my hubby will eat it from his wife's hands na?" she asked taking the morsel of food to his mouth.
He at once pushed it away and threw the plate on the ground. She got angry , despite herself and shouted at him.
"Siddharth! Why can't you come out of the past? I have also lost my Ma and have not cried a single time since she left because I had promised her to take care of you." she shouted frustrated.
He looked at her and she was on the verge of tears , he realised how much his mom's absence hurted her but she did not show it.
"She wants you to be happy and I want you to be happy. You left singing because you could not concentrate , don't stop living Siddharth!" she said hugging him.
He gathered her in a hug and just realised his mistake.
PRESENT
"That was the day Roshni. You made me understand and then I trained Manik for 1 month for this annual day." said Siddharth like a proud father.
"Our son has totally gone on his father!" said Roshni caressing his hair.
"Umm hmm he gets his intelligence from his mom!" said Siddharth shaking his head and smiling at her.
"I am sorry Roshni , I lost myself after Mom's death but today I promise you I'll not get weak again!" he said wiping his tears.
"Shh Siddharth we both lost someone we loved alot but she is always with us na?" she asked signaling towards Sia.
Sia was Siddharth and Roshni's 5 year old daughter. Since the day she was born she was closest to Simran and hence both of them saw Simran in Sia.
"Hmm.." he nodded his head taking Sia in his arms.
"Daddy nice song haan? For Grandma?" she asked cutely.
"Hmm my doll..It was for grandma and she will be proud of dad na?" Roshni asked staring into Siddharth's eyes.
He asked her if she will indeed be proud of him and Roshni just asked him to see Sia.
Her eyes were glittering with something unknown to her but known to both Siddharth and Roshni. Simran was proud of Sid and prouder of Roshni , for being by his side always!
They returned home to amidst the constant bickerings of Manik and Sia.
IN THE CAR
"Dad..Sia says you love her more! That isn't true right?" asked Manik angrily.
Sid was tongue-tied , he could never choose among them. They were his life. So he chose the easy way out.
"No that is wrong.." said Siddharth and before he could have finished Sia was crying buckets.
"Oh my baby..No no daddy is bad!" said Roshni glaring at Sid while he clarified his point.
"Oho I said it is wrong because I love Roshni the most." Sid said making Sia stop crying and hit Manik. Their fight started again!
But Roshni was blushing red every moment listening to his answer. She looked at him , only to find him smirking.
"Ok mom leave dad , he is useless." Manik said making Sid throw daggers at him and Roshni chuckle.
"Whom do you love most? Me or Sia?" asked Manik knowing the answer very well.
Roshni was in a fix now but to save her Siddharth screeched the car to a stop. They had reached the house and saw their grandma standing there.
"Grandmom" cried Manik and told her all about his performance and how daddy performed with him.
DD was happy that finally the family was a happy bunch but then the bomb dropped on her head.
"Whom do you love more grandmom?" asked Sia seeing her with her big beautiful eyes.
"I toh love my Sia more!" came a voice from behind and Sia ran into her Grandpa's arms. Raj was extremely attached to her! He just spoiled her totally.
"See Manik bhai you lost." Sia stuck her tongue out at him.
Manik looked away making a face and then smirked when DD whispered something in his ear.
"You know we are a team haan?" DD smiled at Manik and he gave a hi-five to her and ran in to play with Sia.
"Sid you are fine na?" asked Raj patting his son's back.
"Ya dad! I am all okay.." he replied hugging him with a jolt.
DD side-hugged Roshni and she passed her a big smile.
"Umm I'll go and cook dinner haan mom?" asked Roshni a bit loudly and her plan worked.
"I'll help you?" Siddharth asked her making a puppy-dog face.
She nodded her head smiling.
Naina and Kabir were coming for dinner to the house that day as Kabir had got a big job offer from USA and they were shifting there. They had got married 6 years back and had a daughter named Alia.
IN KITCHEN
"Siddharth you.." Roshni started but he kept a finger on her lips stopping her from speaking further.
"Roshni I am absolutely okay because you are with me." he looked at her and joined their foreheads.
"Siddharth mom will come." said Roshni sensing what was on his mind.
"She always does.." Siddharth said in an annoyed tone making Roshni laugh.
He got lost in her laughter and reduced the gap in between them, if it only wasn't minimum.
