The hike had tired them out. The next day all of them were late for Breakfast.
Finally, when they all assembled in the Dining Room below, Pam spluttered excitedly.
'We have something to share', as she glanced happily towards RK, who now sported a huge grin on his face. He let Pam continue,
'RK and I have decided to get married this winter. We have wasted enough time in reaching this point, and now find no reason to stay apart. Time is very short, for all of us.'
She held her left hand up to show everyone the sparkling diamond which now rested on her ring finger.
As everybody got busy congratulating the couple, Nachiket looked at Ragini. She had happy tears in her eyes. He lightly grasped her fingers which were resting on her lap, and squeezed. She looped up at him, and they both smiled into each other's eyes.
Finally, Pam would have a home of her own. Nachiket's eyes gleamed with unshed tears, but his happiness knew no bounds. He had waited so long for this.
As the discussion on the how? where? when? of the marriage petered out, Aarav turned towards his parents and asked -
So what's the plan for today?
Ragini surprised everybody as she responded immediately - There's a snorkelling club down the beach, some 5-7 kms away. We could all go there.
Nachiket was surprised and looked at Ragini. She laughed
'Dear Husband, I do know about the benefits of Google. In fact, I had contacted the club even before we came down over here. They have professional snorkellers as well for those who do not know swimming or are not comfortable enough.'
She looked at her wristwatch and stated
'We have to hurry if we have to go snorkelling today morning.'
Everybody hustled off to get ready and soon the two cars were on their way. While Agham discussed about the food he has gotten packed, which they would surely need after, Ragini sat close to Nachiket, their fingers entwined, smiling as they listened to the children's discussion.
Nishi, though excited, was worried, she didn't know swimming. Jignesh was assuring her that he would take care of her and that they could even hire a professional.
Ranbir, Suhaani and Aagham knew swimming already. And so did Aarav. There were no issues on this side. After a while, Nishi agreed, and the other kids were elated.
Ragini laid down her head on Nachiket's shoulder as the car sped up. Nachiket whispered,
'I know the hike has tired you out, especially after the fever. I should have taken care of you. I was so worried that the fever would relapse.'
She looked up at him and smiled
'No worries Nachiket. I have waited for these moments all my life. A slight fever ain't going to stop me.'
After a while, she continued
'Today, you go in with the kids. I will wait for you all on the beach itself.'
Nachiket retorted
'No way, I am not going to leave you there alone. You heard Jignesh? You will come with me and we will get a pro, as well.'
'But Nachiket, I haven't swum for so many long years. I don't even remember ...' Ragini sighed.
he lowered his voice and whispered into her ears,
'It's like making love, Sweetie. Once in the water, you will find your bearings.'
He smiled as he watched the red blush creep up to her face. He squeezed her fingers gently in assurance.
