By the time Nachiket woke up, Ragini had already freshened up. As she combed her wet tresses, he slipped his arms around her waist and pulled her closer, her back flush against his chest. He kissed her cheek and then hid his face on her clavicle, gently biting the skin there.
'Nachiket' she gently pushed him away.
'You look amazing', he responded, his eyes taking in her entire countenance, his hands still holding her waist loosely. Their eyes met through the mirror and he whistled softly. She blushed but then shrugged jovially. She was dressed in a blue chiffon churidar, as blue as the sea itself, with spaghetti straps framing her delicate frame.
They had once gone shopping together and his eyes had caught the sight of this dress, and she had known.
And this time his phone rang. It was Pam.
Ragini pushed him towards the washroom as she picked up the service phone to order breakfast. He returned after a while and Ragini's heart skipped a beat. He looked extremely delectable in his chinos and white half sleeved shirt, and he walked upto her, the towel in his hand, urging her to dry his now wet hair. As he settled down in the bed, pulling her in between his legs, and her hand busied themselves with towelling his hair, he looked up at her face. She seemed happy and content - in fact, almost happy and content, and he could recognise the slight tick at the corner of her mouth. She was deep in thought.
'Nachiket, what did Pam say?' she asked after a while, as she went to the washroom to deposit the towel.
He started buttoning up his shirt - 'Nothing serious. There are some changes in their plans They will be reaching Goa tomorrow.'
'Ok, did you tell her we are here?' she asked.
'Yes. She laughed for almost five minutes at how we fooled the children.' he added
She smirked as she remembered her talk with her elder son. But she was in no mood to destroy his party.
She now walked over to him and stood in front of him
'So does this mean Nachiket, that today you will tell me what has been bothering you since last evening? Since you met that lady by the beach?'
And he visibly froze in front of her, warning signals going off in his head. He took a few steps back and all light seemed to vanish from in front of his eyes. He gingerly sat down on the sofa and looked down, deep furrows etched on his forehead.
Ragini stood there surprised, trying to understand him and gauge his reactions. Something was seriously wrong and she didn't know what. And now Nachiket was looking everywhere, but at her.
She moved back to the balcony and stood there, looking out at the sea, giving him precious time to collect himself together. And talk. As she waited.
