Ragini didn't stop him from going, however, she did tell him something before he went, "Although I know he won't ask, but still if he does ask you why I told him to not come for dinner, you do not have to answer. You do not owe him an explanation, Nachiket"
Nachiket and Suhani went to meet Sameer in the hospital after dropping off Ragini at Aman'd hospital. Sameer welcomed both of them to his cabin.
"Uncle, you shouldn't have cancelled the dinner yesterday. Mom had made delicious food," Suhani said and Sameer looked at her confused, a smile still on his face, "But its okay, mom said you had some emrgency. Do come next time you are in the city,"
As Sameer realised what Ragini must have told the kids, he played along. He apologised to Suhani for cancelling the dinner and promised her she would visit them next time. Nachiket went out so that Sameer and Suhani could discuss the case. Nachiket wondered what Ragini must have told him on phone and why was he playing along.
Suhani called him after an hour and he went back to Sameer's cabin.
"Suhani, why don't you go and get the case files from the reception? I'll talk to your Dad till then,"
Suhani went downstairs to the reception.
"Please have a seat Dr. Khanna," Sameer offered him the chair. Nachiket took the chair.
"I want to apologise for yesterday," Sameer continued, "I should have been more careful. I can only imagine how you must be feeling," He smiled at the end. Nachiket smiled back. Although Ragini had told him that he didn't have to explain why Ragini asked Sameer to never talk to her, Nachiket was picking words for his reply for the past one hour. He had thought Sameer would be angry but he had definitely not expected an apology.
"Ragini asked you to never talk to her," Nachiket said and looked at Sameer, waiting for some reaction, but Sameer's face only told him that he was waiting for nachiket to complete his sentence, "And you know its because of me," This time Sameer smiled, as if in agreement. "You're not angry at me?" Nachiket asked finally.
Sameer smiled and leaned back on his chair. "I have done my homework Dr. Khanna," he started and Nachiket frowned in confusion, "I know people who know Ragini. And when they tell me Ragini is happy, I believe them. And if Ragini is happy, I don't care if she talks to me or not,"
"You love her?" The words came out of Nachiket's mouth before he could stop himself. He didn't even know why he asked him this.
"Probably more than you do," Sameer replied without blinking an eye. Nachiket knew he wasn't lying. "But she loves you," Sameer finished and his tone told Nachiket that he accepted and respected it.
Nachiket was sitting there, grasping the meaning and implication of what Sameer had just said.
"Dad, lets go!" Suhani entered the room, "Thank you Sameer Uncle!"
