Roka comes from the word rok' in hindi, which means stop'. It is a small get-together of families of the girl and the boy to announce that they have now stopped looking for a match for their daughter / son. The roka, like every other pre-wedding,
wedding and post-wedding function in Hindu marriages,
involves exchange of sweets, gifts, jwellery
(sometimes), majorly depending on the tradition in the
family.
