Hi everyone,
I've been enjoying writing about NeRa and their romance for the last few weeks and I realized how much I'd love to read what you all come up with.
One thing that always helps trigger people who always wanted to write but never did is a prompt.. its just one word/sentence on which you write :)

So here is my prompt -

His last letter

I am sure this triggers a lot of thoughts about NeRa in your mind since Ragini mentions to Devika that she burnt everything that reminded her of Neil, including his letters.. so let's go crazy and write something around this - would love to read what you all come up with :)

Thanks in advance!😳

Sounds like a lovely idea.
I shall give it a try...

A small scene... Apologies in advance if it does not turn out well.

Smiling down on her little angel, who is fast asleep, thinking, "my baby has grown up. She will get married soon," Ragini turns around and leaves Nishi's room. Shutting the door, she silently walks to her room, her mind racing towards memories best left untouched... Memories that refuse to stay locked anymore... Memories that have been forcing themselves to resurface when she saw him for the very first time in years.

Standing in front of the open window, staring up into the dark and dead sky, Ragini wonders what plans desitny has in store for her. Sighing, she thinks, "will I never get over this pain. Seeing Neil again has..." She shuts her mind, refusing to continue with her thoughts. "Focus," she mutters to herself, "you will not think about him."

Her mind refuses to comply to her wishes and races of into the past... sifting through the memories between husband and wife... Reminding her of the love they once shared... The happiness and contentment that was once part of her life... To the heartache and bitterness that she now wore.

One memory stands out... A letter... His last letter before they became one. It is the night of their marriage, Ragini was bubbling with nervous excitement, unable to believe that it was the night she was to marry the man she loved... The man who loved her... her Neil.

Dressed up in her bridal finery Ragini waited for her love to come and whisk her away when she heard a knock on her bedroom door. Smiling shyly, she opened the door, only to see a cute little boy holding out an envelope. Confused, she took the envelope, thanked the boy and shut the door. Her heart racing away when she recognised the handwriting.

Ragini shuts her eyes tightly as she tries to bury this memory, but to no avail... It is as if her past is conspiring with her present and refusing to be buried any longer. With a sigh, she opens her eyes and allows the memory to flow.

She had stared at the envelope for several seconds in shock, wondering what could have happened for Neil to have written to her. She tore open the envelope in haste, anxious to read what was written. Her eyes had shone with renewed love, expressing the emotions that were bursting from within.

Her heart calls out, "that was the first time you read the letter." Ragini's eyes well up with unshed tears as her memories race to the last time she read the letter.

It was another night, but unlike that night... This night was the total opposite. The heavens were protesting through lightening and thunder. It was a perfect reflection of the inner turmoil Ragini was going through... All that was missing was the rain and her tears. In a fit of anger she had taken all The things that reminded her of Neil to the backyard and created a bonfire, adding all of his memories one by one into the fire until she was left with just one memory of his... His last letter. She had hesitated for a split second... Then strengthened her resolve and with a glint of hatred in her eyes... She released the letter into the flames. As she had watched the flames eat away the letter... Her heart had called out... I hate you... I hate you... I will always hate you.

Silent tears fall from her eyes as her minds eye replays the memories... She quietly whispers the contents of the letter... Words that are engraved in her heart and mind...

"To my lovely bride... My promise to you... To always make you smile... To always make you laugh... To always love you... I will be the sunshine in your life as you will be the moonlight in mine... Just as the sun is incomplete without the moon... I too am incomplete without you... For without you my life has no meaning. Together as one... Forever and always... Your groom."

Wiping her tears, Ragini stares out into the dark and dead night, thinking, "I no longer have any sunshine in my life... Nor any moonlight."

Wow! That was beautiful.. 😳
Thank you so much for taking up the prompt and writing something.. it was lovely..
That's why I love prompts so much.. for the things I had in mind were so different than what you wrote.. but it was totally refreshing! :)

I wish she's kept at least one of her letters and was lying to Ragini about it..

Again, great work! 👏
