I really did expect the show to begin with Neil and his side of the story and was disappointed. After the first week that failed to give any depth or dimension to the characters and tonight's episode which continues in the same vein.. I felt compelled to write especially after Sammie egged me on 😳

He never was an early riser.. and some Mondays he just liked to stay in bed, soaking in all the sleep he could get before he started his 70 hour week. But there was something about this day that wouldn't let him be. Frustrated that he could not go to sleep even after trying, he finally got up and got ready for work.
Within an hour of reaching work, he had to start work on one massive surgery.. where he would be working with another team of surgeons.. the operation likely to last for many hours. Thankfully, it was successful and Neil was incharge of the outpatient activities and was there when the patient, Jay came to his senses.. after some questions, Neil said he would be free to go home in a couple of days. Jay smiled back at him.. as he stepped out, he saw Jay's wife looking at him teary-eyed, immense gratitude showing through her eyes. Neil just smiled at her briefly .. he was usually unaffected by emotions of the patient's relatives but her smile triggered a different kind of pain inside him. He struggled to understand what it was.. looking back at Jay hugging his wife, he just stood there, rooted.. wishing he had someone to talk to ..
The surgery had left him physically and mentally exhausted and he could not believe the day was already about to end. His clock showed 9pm.. and just as he switched on his phone, his heart sank. It hit him before him even realizing. Slumping into his office chair, he looked at the date and realised why he was uneasy the entire day.. not able to sleep, getting emotional.. it was their anniversary.. not is.. was.. the day he'd vowed to live his entire life with her, a vow he had to end up breaking..
He was hit by a torrent of memories.. they had just 6 anniversaries together but they had been beautiful. His mind took him back to how she would surprise him with elaborate arrangements even though all he could manage was a bouquet of flowers and one handwritten letter for every year they spent together. His heart was being cruel to him.. he did not want to remember all of this again.. but this pain was real.. every day was a battle proving it was not.. he was the sophisticated, charming Neil to the world.. but he wanted to be her Nachiket once all over again 😳
