I totally agree with you! But initially Khushi was completely overwhelmed with decisions made by people she loved and trusted most but the decisions are not her choice...

Though how much docile Khushi has been in the past, she is asking questions now... Even when she played supportive role to Arnav, she stepped up often to cheer him, guide and correct his way of life politely.. I think the baby talks got her and his reluctance to share her desire, world made her resent his world more... And things went spiraling down... As I had commented long before, Arnav tried to find solution outside the marriage and ended up making worst choice of adultry, while Khushi wanted to fix their marriage...

But now Khushi has matured to the next level in just three months and come a long way! She was blunt with Shyam and rejected his proposal on his face, resented her parents decision to send her with Arnav and dared to ask her mother “When will I have a say in these decisions then?”... She clearly called a spade a spade when showing Arnav how her immense love and trust in him had reduced her to nothing. I was in fact taken aback by brilliant aproach of Arpita, Khushi's sarcasm about feeling pathetic to be back with him at his will, asking Arnav to inform her first when he is ready to kick her out the next time, suggesting him to lead his cheating lifestyle alienating Arnav with her indifference, cross questioning his fake claim that he can't live without her when he was having the best time with other woman without giving a damn about her, shooting down his hollow apology and counselling suggestion by showing him the mirror about his infidility.. Khushi called Lucknow family his family first time and not our family... Arpita is genious with subtle hints! It makes reading the story so real and effective!

Khushi has crossed a major bridge towards self realization without realizing it fully.. And she is very close to realize her own worth as well as Arnav's duplicity and hopefully kicks this so called hypocrite, righteous, savior and protector Arnav if he indeed dared to get the other woman Lavanya inside her sacred sanctuary, her home!

I laughed reading Puja's guess, she could be right, Arnav could be that over confident stupid man to destroy proof everywhere else but saving them in his own office and enjoying watching those periodically!

This kind of string reaction only makes me realise you guy like the story so much. Believe me it makes me happy. And now that you whole lot have made it clear to me that you’re here through the end, no matter what I choose, and you all will be okay with only my version of the story, it makes me relaxed too ♥️☺️

So yeah, please indulge me as I dive a bit more into Khushi’s character.

Irrespective of whether it’s the exact truth, full truth or half truth, Khushi had lived with this heartache. You so correctly pointed out. Her home has been tainted. No amount of cleaning could restore a home from that kind of sin.

What Khushi had felt after knowing all this, we are yet to hear from her POV. She clearly has a lot more affection towards her marital emblems, her duties as a wife and even now towards Arnav. She mused she couldn’t imagine anything happening to him, and all this while she was aware of this adultery. Do I think people are capable of thinking this way towards someone who has hurt them, yes I do. As twisted as it may sound, I’ve met people like this Khushi. I don’t think she has it in her to truly hate Arnav, remember she asked Payal not to break her friendship with him.

Arnav had been right about one more thing. Everything Khushi did after the night of the anniversary was highly atypical of her. He had known his wife of ten years better than we suspected after all. Even though Khushi is not at all a confrontational person, we need to understand It wasn’t a random relationship. It was a marriage of more than a decade. We can often forget in the confines of a story that breaking up a marriage is never as simple. Nobody, even as subdued as Khushi, would ever just agree to it in an instant.

He was prepared for a lengthy talk, accusations and tears from her side. He was ready for her to suggest counselling even. Her absolute give up had alerted him back then too but he didn’t think too much of it because he thought she was overwhelmed with this news. He didn’t think he was entitled to it, but he was correct in assuming that Khushi would have fought for this marriage. Because that’s what a Khushi who had not been hurt by his betrayal would have probably done.

But of course now we know just how disturbed Khushi had truly been to act completely out of character. Her wanting nothing to do with Arnav anymore is the biggest step back a traditional woman like her could take. She hasn’t been able to part ways with her values and marital emblems but she walked out on Arnav right away. Agreed to divorce when she believed marriages lasted seven lifetimes.

And don’t worry about it. I love this kind of comments. 😘😘♥️♥️

Ps- also this is absolutely my personal opinion away from the story, but I will not choose this Shyam over Arnav. 😅

Arpita, I was reading above response to Puja. Did you just confirm -> Her home has been tainted. No amount of cleaning could restore a home from that kind of sin. And on top it, he took her to the same penthouse after bringing her back from her hometown, why? I am lost here…

If this is true, I agree with Puja 200% - Arnav cannot do anything anymore to redeem himself, even if he goes to hell to do his penance and come back will not make any difference to me at least. His character is/will be as good as dead to me. Puja's point of view on Khushi's house being tainted made me cry again... Deep dive into Khushi's charater, hats off...

I still want completely your version of story and I will somehow read it and accept if Khushi still decides to live with this AH. But for today, I am relying on my wine bottle to help me sleep and I am not going to comment until next chapter… This is taking a toll on me with constant comparision in my mind with my colleague’s life and her struggles… Hats off to you as a writer but I need moments to gather myself!

By the way have fun marriages and other activities before nect chapter!

- Swati

Nice work with your predictions. Arpita got us so involved in this story it’s bordering on obsession (atleast for me). I religiously come back to read comments and her replies.

I kept going back to the previous chapters and I also came to the conclusion that she somehow found out on the day of the anniversary and it was so shocking and heartbreaking for her that she agreed to the divorce so quickly almost instantly. I feel maybe not only was she heartbroken but given her insecurities about not fitting into his new world she might have thought Lavanya maybe a better fit for Arnav and if he likes her then let me get out of the way?? Just speculating.

But I never thought of this possibility that she went to leave her letter in the study and stumbled upon the pictures until you pointed it out. Now that’s a big possibility and the reason for her distress and immediate conclusion that he wants to separate to go to Lavanya?? But even when she tore out the rest she left the ‘I love you’ part in the letter. Was it a goodbye I love you enjoy your life with Lavanya.

Oh my god - do you see what you have done to us Arpita. All I can think about is this story as I go about my weekend. You are killing us. I am going to be a mess by the 2weeks you said you will take before the next update. 😭

Thank you sooooo much guys ♥️♥️♥️♥️

Arnav had been confused with Khushi’s out of character behaviour and at least now he knows why. Although I’m not sure Arnav has the luxury the go back and read previous chapters and figure out that Khushi would have gotten to know on the day of anniversary or not 😅😅😅

Although if he composes himself enough in this emotional mess he might just figure some stuff out 🙂

Yes, insecurities can play a part. You are right. And it is there in the prologue she did went to his studies to keep the letter. Though i still can't wrap my head around that why she still left the ''I love you'' and ''I am the luckiest woman" part. But you are right, may be she took it as, he love lavanya and will be happy with her.

Oh yes, writing this also reminds me- when aman saw her coming from somewhere he did mention that 'khushi bhabi looked like she was crying and then she asked him if he was heading for divorce'. Kind of sums up right? So if we put all the happenings in seqence-- She went to study to give the letter, saw the evidence regarding his affair, cried and while coming back got aman and asked him about divorce.

Even arnav asked her again and again that why she ask aman regarding divorce particularly and she kept on dodging the question and he did felt that she may have just lied through her teeth.

Kudos to that woman for keeping mum for straight 3 months. Endurance level!

thanks for the love Puja ♥️♥️♥️

I love how you have brought together different things from different chapters here. As you all have wondered, even Arnav has suspected that she has acted out of character.

So Khushi’s PoV about the whole thing becomes as important about the prologue day as Arnav’s history with Lavanya. The much needed confrontation and confessions are now hanging in the air. Both Arnav and Khushi have a lot to tell each other. We’ll see if they give each other the chance to because frankly, communication is not a string suit for these two 😅

thanks a lot ♥️♥️♥️

At times I did think if writing such repeated problems to Khushi was in fact far from what would’ve actually happened, but then I’ve seen society not let few women even breath after some tragedies before imposing their stupid notions. So I just wanted to replicate that.

Yep, as a lot of readers have suspected, Khushi knows about Lavanya 😊

Oh for sure!!! Khushi’s nerves were stretched in all directions and with these repeated blows, she was bound to snap. The one thing I also wanted to illustrate in this chapter, and I think I pointed in one comment too, is that Khushi had chosen to finally let out her anguish in front of Arnav of all people. Her anger, although at a lot of other things, stems from the fact that Arnav deserted her. I wanted her to be meaner in the confrontation 😅 but that would not have flown with her character. And you were absolutely right. Even Khushi may not be realising that she had started alienating Arnav. She called it ‘his’ family, his life and she is just trying to be away.

Can it be translated to something positive for her? Maybe. But right now it’s coming from a place of absolute defeat. I really have put her in a very dark corner of her life.

Arshi ♥️♥️♥️

Please take care. I understand the break ♥️🥰

And no, I didn’t confirm or deny if it brings some solace. I have pointed out to Puja that it doesn’t matter as of now whether it’s actually true or not. What I was saying is that Khushi has lived with this belief and has endured the heartbreak of this degree. I was just agreeing to Puja’s pov that Khushi who treated her home in such a delicate way, for her it would be a nightmare to even breathe in such tainted place.

Forgetting that they are getting divorced now, or that Arnav has cheated, forget everything. Take out Arnav from this picture, totally.

So who is Khushi? This question she has to ask herself.

Let's say her father had not found Shyam and found someone else, a little more decent, then would Khushi have married him? Then would she have accepted being Mrs (new guy) all her life? And allowed him to take all decisions on her behalf?

Who is responsible for her being just someone's daughter or wife all her life?

How different is she from the other women in her village or even her mother?

She is questioning the actions of her mother or the women in her village. But she is no different from them, why?

Khushi really needs to question herself.

Yessss!!!!! For once let’s take Arnav completely out of the picture and we have nothing on Khushi. Don’t get me wrong, she is a strong woman, with a great moral compass and a zeal for life. But now that the life has hit her with problems that she once couldn’t even imagine, she is questioning if all of it is even worth it. I don’t fault her for this completely. She grew up in an environment where it wasn’t expected out of her. And then her fortune changes along with Arnav and she had a comfortable life. But now that she’s been shown that life is never predictable and where does she stand in the society, her thinking needs to be changed. This is demanded out of her now.

Arpita kindly answer this one. I don't have the emotional strength anymore to revisit the old chapters.

Secondly hats off to you arpita, the patience with which you reply to each one of the comments, not just the comments but also the discussions that we have among ourselves. You are managing your professional life, personal life, attending weddings, writing this mind blowing piece and replying in detail to so many of our if-s & but-s.

Take a bow!

Oh sorry I missed this. I assume Arshi was referring to the prologue where Arnav asked Lavanya ‘not to call him for a while since he planned to talk to Khushi the next day’. I think that’s what she’s referring to because in the next interaction with Lavanya, Arnav had said no such thing about ever showing an interest in meeting her or speaking to her again.

And thanks a lot. I kind of have to. This comment thread has become as important to me as the story itself. This is first of a kind for me ♥️
