Chapter 7: I really like this Arnav.. They danced😃.. But update seems so short or am I being greedy??
It had been around a week since Arnav and Khushi's little dream dance sequence and both of them had been busy working. Khushi wasn't expecting to be this closely associated with the set designing procedures, so soon but it seemed like Lavanya liked her work. She made the most of it, though. Even if that meant she couldn't spend time with Arnav.
Arnav had been in out of the office a lot because the company was signing a few short films and Arnav had to personally overlook all the contracts, with the co-producers. Khushi was happy because she was doing what she loved and watching Arnav work for his company relentlessly every single day, made her admire him even more.
The butterflies had toned down quite a bit, maybe because she was getting used to being around him. She reminded herself that she wasn't a teenager often but she didn't get to experience that phase with Arnav when she should've, so maybe it was acting out now.
Khushi was busy preparing a list of props for a commercial they were going to shoot, when Payal entered the room and basically snatched the laptop from her hands.
"Khushi, for god's sake, it's Sunday! Stop it." Payal kept the laptop aside.
"Di, this is kind of important." Khushi frowned and tried to reach for the laptop as Payal slapped her hand away.
"And Khushi, it's kind of Sunday. You have to stop working. It should be illegal to work on Sundays in my opinion." Payal said, with an expression that made it seem like she was making a valid point... when she was clearly, not.
"I'm not a kid, di. So what if it's a Sunday? I got work to do and look how hot it is outside. If you stop me from doing my work, I'm just gonna hit the bean bag and watch Netflix all day. So, choose." Khushi said, with a raised brow and crossed arms.
"Princess Khushi, let me knock your tiara off. Get off your butt and go out. Take a walk in the park, I don't know. Do something. You're gonna go crazy working all day. That's all you've been doing this week, anyway."
After about 15 minutes of arguing back and forth, Khushi got up out of annoyance and decided to head out because she knew Payal was going to push her out, anyway.
In flip flops and a loose t-shirt dress, topped with a messy bun, Khushi stepped out of the house and walked to the park, situated in their lane itself.
The heat started getting to her and the icky feeling was annoying her already. She entered the park and was greeted by the laughter of the kids playing there. The park had a crucified path, intersecting in the middle and instead of walking on it, which is what she had initially planned, she went ahead and sat on the bench by a huge tree, to stay under the shade.
Khushi closed her eyes as a sudden breeze of cool air passed by. She finally felt a soothing feeling and relaxed herself. It felt good not having to run to check some arrangements like what she's been doing the last few days.
"Khushi?"
She heard Arnav's voice calling her name and for a second she thought that it was her imagination.
"Khushi?"
She heard him again and this time, she opened her eyes only to see him standing right in front of her.
"Arnav?"
"Okay? Can we stop the Khushi-Arnav, now?" Arnav smiled as he sat down next to her. She didn't invite him but they were over the formality bit by then.
Arnav inquired about work related stuff and Khushi didn't know how to shut him up. Granted, that's what she was doing a while in her own house but now that she'd taken a break, she didn't want to talk about work blah blah blah.
Khushi still nodded and gave short replies so as to not look rude. She got that he was her boss but she'd rather just have her friend when they were outside the office.
Arnav didn't seem to take the hint and continued talking about the big launch party coming up. She realised that he'd probably been worked up too.
As he was talking, a splash of water hit his face and he froze midway through his sentence. Khushi tried to control her laughter and looked in the direction of where the water came from. The children, who she heard before, were playing with the water pipe and were already soaking wet. Apparently, they had accidently whipped the pipe in Arnav and Khushi's direction and now Arnav was fuming with anger, ironically, as he was wet.
Khushi's heart told her to go and play with the kids to beat the heat but her head told her to sit with Arnav and try to calm him down.
"WHAT THE-"
And she listened to her heart. As Arnav began to shout, she got up and ran towards the kids and left him surprised.
She called out his name as she ran just like one of the kids, towards them. She gestured him to come and join them while she took the hose and pointed in upwards, drenching herself and the children around her in the makeshift rain.
Khushi looked in Arnav, laughing joyfully and saw him smiling. It was kind of unexpected to him see smiling rather than coming over to scold everyone for their mischief. Arnav stood up and started walking towards her anyway, but with a sly smirk on his face.
She tried to understand what he was going to do but didn't get enough time because he took the hose from her hand and pointed it towards her, soaking her in water. Khushi tried to defend herself with her hands, unsuccessfully. Arnav came closer to her as she tried to run. He dropped the pipe and ran behind her and she cursed herself for deciding to wear flip flops.
Arnav was undoubtedly faster than Khushi and came around to catching her pretty quickly. He grabbed her by her waist from behind and her back collided with his chest. Both of them laughed and Arnav pulled her closer shielding her as the kids played around with the water some more.
As if by instinct, Khusi placed her right hand to his cheek, which was right beside hers and kissed him on the apple of his cheeks. Arnav turned to look at her with a surprised smile but then, he proceeded to tilt his head downwards and shook his hair so the water from his head speckled onto her face. Khushi closed her eyes and pushed him away but he maintained his firm grip around her midriff.
Thank you, Payal di.
What did you think? Also, look out for the launch party 😉
Love, Akshita ❤️
