Later that evening, as Arnav stood in front of his own room, he hesitated for a moment. The feeling, that Khushi was there in his room was difficult to put in words. His senses sizzled and he closed his eyes, as his mind desperately made the erotic journey through that night once again, reliving it at leisure, like he had done on so many other nights. But no more of that. He wouldn't break his vow of never touching her again, even if that kills him. She would have to break first and break she will.
With a slight self satisfactory smile, he opened the door. The smile which disappeared as he didn't find her anywhere in the room. The smile which changed into a frown as he took long hasty strides to check the balcony and then bathroom. He gritted his teeth in frustration and then sighed with relief as he saw her clothes hanging in the closet, probably arranged by some maid. Something bothered him, as he noticed how meager her collection of clothing was, as it almost got engulfed by the huge expanse of walk in closet. So where in the hell was she? He ran his hand through his hair impatiently and banged the door behind him as he came out to go in search for her.
There, Khushi stood inside the threshold of the room, where she had stayed last time when she was here. Room was still the same, yet so much had changed. Since Arnav had so coldly scoffed at the idea of ever touching her again, she had also sighed with relief and never discussed the sleeping arrangements with him. In this vast house, they would go on living as strangers and maybe never even see each other let alone talk. This was the vision she had envisioned of this cold marriage deal that he had imposed on her. But before she could shut the door and be alone in her misery, she noted her suitcase was nowhere in sight. With an impatient sigh she came out of the room to go marching, looking for her suitcase, but stopped as his angry voice called out her name and reached her ears before he did.
She was almost tempted to run inside and slam the door at his face and ignore his commanding call out. That should teach him a lesson. But then she knew she couldn't just hide behind the doors forever. Whatever he needed to tell her, she would listen, but damn if she fulfill his demands or commands. So with a proud tilt of her face, she waiting for him to reach at her doorstep.
As soon he saw her, his first reaction was relief as worry for her dissipated and anger took over. Sharply he asked. " What do you think, you are doing here?"
Khushi closed her weary eyes and then counted backwards to keep calm in her voice as she said." I am going to get my suitcase from downstairs."
He almost looked bewildered as her statement and then in an exasperate tone he said. " Your suitcase is where it should be, in my room." And when she gave a puzzled look, he called out bit angrily. " And do you really think, I would let my pregnant wife to carry a suitcase?"
Khushi flushed at first and then before she could make something else of his statement, she said firmly." I am not sleeping in your room Arnav."
"Oh! No?" Her pulse shot up as he raised his brow and said softly, menacingly. "Well...I think you are."
And then as he moved threateningly towards her, she shrank back and shrieked out. " You can't make me Arnav."
"What the..?" He swore under his breath impatiently and then trying not to get any more riled up by her statement, he said calmly. " Now don't be ridiculous Khushi, what if you need any help in the middle of the night."
" I rather die than ask for your help." She regretted the words as soon she said that and then got panic as he glared angrily in her direction. Next moment due to heightened emotions and as exhaustion from the day's events took over, she was swaying on her feet. And before she could protest, in panic haste Arnav was lifting her up in his arms while muttering. "The hell you don't need any help, Khushi." Her feeble attempts to get back to her feet failed as he ignored her protests and carried her all the way back to his room. With half closed eyes, she saw his frown as he adjusted her again in his arms and she was puzzled hearing worry in his tone." Khushi, why are you always feeling dizzy? It can't be good."
Tiredly she leaned against his shoulder and muttered while smothering a yawn. "I don't know."
"Hmmm!" His frown deepened and then said." And you are even lighter than before...shouldn't you be gaining weight?"
Oh! Now he was getting on her nerve, so in a dry tone she replied. " It is too early to gain weight. I guess."
"Hmm!" He was obviously not happy with her nonchalant reply as he kept on going about, her not taking care of her diet and nutrition, and how he would not allow her to diet while she was still pregnant. All the protests died on her lips as she glanced in his direction and simply stared at him thinking, what a complex man he was. How irritating, how arrogant, how imposing...impossible and bossy. Why did she even fell in love with him?
