Chapter 1 - Memories

Taking slow steps towards his newly wedded bride he sat on bed which was beautifully decorated with rose petals. Lifting her veil which covered his wife's face he said "You look beautiful" and took out a solitaire diamond ring from his pocket and slid it on her finger. Adoring her hand, he said "I promise you that I will always keep you happy, no matter what I will always be by you side in your happiness and sorrows, I will never make you cry and will always be with you for my entire life and I expect the same from you Lavanya". As he kissed her knuckles, she smiled looking into his eyes. He held her face in his palms, kissed her lovingly on forehead and leaned towards her lips to claim them. With a sudden jerk Arnav opened his eyes and looked around when he realized that it was just his dream.

Dream really???...he thought for a second, no it was not but it was his past which was beautiful, at-least he thought so that his past life was beautiful. He entered his room and saw Kushi, his wife sleeping on the bed. He remembered his marriage with her the previous day. He wondered how his life has changed gradually over time, how he as person has changed, how he used to find happiness in small things once upon a time and is forbidden from all happiness now.
He saw the quilt which should be covering her but was lying on the floor and saw her tossing around in bed, a small smile crept his face...he uttered silently in his mind "she has not changed". He took few steps towards her and covered her with quilt. He cares for her even today, why not??? she is still his best friend but unable to acknowledge the fact he entered washroom to complete his morning chores.

As a ritual, she had to prepare a sweet dish on her first rasoi. As she was in a dilemma on what to prepare nani kept palm on her cheeks and said "Kushi bitiya prepare whatever u like...haan you love jalebi right why wont u prepare them". She smiled at nani and started looking around kitchen to find ingredients. As if anjali read Kushis's mind she said "Kushi everything is still same, nothing has changed in this house". Kushi questioned in her own mind " Is everything the same di?? no not really many things have changed". Anjali and nani left kitchen asking her to call out them in case if she require any help fro them and Kushi started to prepare jalebis and found that all things were kept in same place and preparing food became a easy task for her.

As Kushi set the dining table, garima and shashi entered raizada house. Naniji said "Garima I asked you come here at the time of aarti and you people are coming this late". Anjali came there and asked "Were you struck in traffic aunty? " to which Garima pinched her ears as she said "you are always behind teasing everyone Anjali". Anjali replied "then what aunty...u stay next door, you are our neighbours in fact more than that, you are our family, after death of our parents you are the only people we have and " as she was about to complete Shashi hugged her as he said "Stop it anjali are we not your parents".

Shashi Gupta and Amar Raizada were college friends who started their own business and became successful businessmen through their hard work. Garima and Priya always supported their husband and stood with them in all the difficult as well as happy moments of their life. Manohar Singhania was Priya's brother who had helped Arjun and Shashi during difficult times in their business. After an unexpected death of Manohar and Manorama in a car accident Amar bought Akash and his mother-in-law to his own house declaring Akash will be his and priya's son from now and respected Devayani as his own mother. Raizada's and Gupta's shared a great bond and that's why they constructed Raizada and Gupta mansion next to each other. Being neighbours and being kids of best friends Anjali, Akash, Arnav and Kushi shared a great bond among themselves. Both families treated all 4 kids equally but Kushi being the youngest among all 4 was getting a little more pampering from everyone. Arnav and Kushi were of almost similar age being Arnav elder than Kushi by 3 months. So bonding between Arnav & Kushi was a little more since they used to spend most of the time together. Though friends Raizda's and Gupta's were a family, a very happy and contended family. It was around 2 years ago when everyone convinced Amar and Priya to celebrate their wedding anniversary in Paris and unfortunately they passed away in a plane crash. In these two years many things had changed, both families had suffered turmoils in personal life , death of Amar and Priya followed by problems in Arnav and Kushi's marital life and their divorce with their respective partners.

As everyone settled on dining table naniji asked "beta this kheer " without even listening to naniji completely Kushi replied "don't worry nani this is sugar free & ", she was interrupted by nani as she said "Beta I mean you were about to prepare jalebis but u prepared kheer". She didn't knew what to reply as she herself didn't knew why she changed her mind and prepared kheer instead of jalebis. She heard Payal answering nani as if she was indirectly teasing Kushi by saying "nani don't you understand such a simple thing, of-course its arnav's favorite and that's why she prepared it" . Hearing this she felt as if she found answer to her questions of why she prepared kheer and thought "Yes of-course, it's his favorite and he is my best friend even today " and she heard other side of her mind mockingly countered at her saying "and you are not ready to accept that fact".

Listening to all these conversation she remembered a beautiful moment from her past. "It was her 18th birthday probably, Arnav had planned a small surprise yet a beautiful one for her. All her family members wished her at midnight and they celebrated her bday beautifully. As guptas and raizadas settled down in Drawing room of gupta mansion Kushi took Arnav to backyard of her home, the lawn which is her favorite place. She took his hands in hers and kissed them as she said with a beautiful smile on her face "I know its you who planned for all this surprise right??? Arnav I feel so blessed to have you in my life and you will always remain special to me, thank you so much Arnav ". Arnav who was listening to all this gave her a "Oh really??" look. She looked at him lovingly, after a second or two after which her expression got changed and she said "Inna kya ghur rahe ho?? I am not gonna tell all these cheesy lines and especially for you...eee a big no ". Now he gave a satisfied look to her as she continued " I am not gonna thank my best friend bcoz best friendship mai no thanku and no sorry and Arnav if u really want someone to say those kind of cheesy lines then jaldi search for a girl friend" and winked at him to which he coldly replied "What the crap??? shutup kush". She said "What what the crap? sach mai it wud be amazing to have a girlfriend haina arnav"and patted his shoulder. He gave an irritated look to her as she continued her blabbering "Arnav I always wished to have a boyfriend you know but I didn't like anyone of them who proposed me", she said with a cute pout. He smirked at her and said "Ku you know what, though if you had accepted any of them, they would have run far away from you within a day or two because of your madness". With angry look she asked "How dare you think me as mad?". She chased him to death as he replied "Ku I am not thinking, in-fact I said the truth...you are actually mad". Hearing this she chased him to death, after a minute of chasing and escaping session she stopped for a while when he asked "Kyun thank gayi kush?". She smiled at him with a negative nod and said "Arnav if it was true that my boyfriend would run away then why didn't you run away??". He said his famous dialog "What the???". She replied "What the ke bache, isn't it a logic that you are a boy and I am your friend In-fact best friend...so obviously aren't you my boyfriend Arnav???" she asked with a wink. Suddenly she felt that she was grabbed by her waist and before even she could realize she was in his arms. With a husky tone and his trademark smirk he said "Are you sure I am your boyfriend Ku". She played along with him and said yes. He asked "do you know how boyfriend's behave...wait let me show you" and he started coming closer to her face when she suddenly kissed on his cheeks. He left her and started rubbing his cheeks as he said "Chi Kush what did you do??? you kissed me...disgusting". She came and snaked her arms with a seductive look in her eyes and said "It was you who started this and I am trying to complete it Arnav". Arnav took her hands off his shoulder and said "Mujhe maaf karde, galti hogayi and I didn't expect this kiss from you Kush" to which she asked "Ohhh Mr.Raizada I am really sorry, I know that you wanted kiss from some one else??". He said "What do you mean??". He heard a instant answer with a loud giggle from her "I mean from Lavanya and why don't you accept her proposal?". "Stop it kushi, don't irritate me and you know I am not interested in her". She laughed at him and he said "You have gone mad Kushi, before you turn everyone mad I will ask uncle to search a groom for you and get you married, so that I can breath calmly". She asked "From where did my marriage came in between???" , he said "then don't bring Lavanya in between". She irritatingly replied "OK" when he pulled her closer to hi and said "I am serious Kush I am gonna tell a big sorry to that person who will marry you". She gritted her teeth as he said "since he is going to handle this toofan for his entire lifetime".

After a little chit-chat she suddenly asked him as if she remembered something "Arnav where are jalebis??? Yesterday I asked you to bring them from chandni chowk right?? Kaha hai???". He said "Oops I forgot" to which she said "I will kill you laad governor". He laughed at her and continued " Why won't you search for a boyfriend ku, I mean accept NK's proposal, he will do anything and everything for you isn't it? ". She said "Ohhh shutup arnav, NK that stupid...ugghhh aur koi nahi mila kya" and she started walking back into home when he called her lovingly. She turned back and asked "Now what???". He handed her a box full of her fav sweet that he had bought for her from chandni chowk and said "how can I forget when my best friend has asked me for something". She hugged him and said "you are so cute Arnav". He hugged her back and said "Ahhh stop me calling cute Kushi, I don't like it".

She was eating jalebis as if there is no tomorrow, forgetting her surrounding she was enjoying it. He was smiling at her cute antics. He said "sach mai tu pagal hogayi hai ku" when he heard her muttering " Arnav I wish you would have made me cut a cake made of jalebi,heaps of jalebi...yummy". She stopped munching her jalebi when she realized that he can't have these sweets. Then she grabbed his hand and started moving towards raizada mansion. She said "Don't speak anything, just walk with me" when he asked "What are you doing??". Within no time she prepared kheer as she knew that he loves kheer and that too the one she prepares and asked him to have it. She said "Arnav I know you don't like jalebis that much and you love kheer so here it is and it's sugar free ...have it. I am really very bad that I was eating all alone that I didn't even realize about you...I am so sorry". He pulled her into a tight hug and said "I didn't ask you to prepare this Ku, I didn't feel bad". She looked at him and said "Arnav will you promise me one thing...". He asked her to continue. "Arnav chahe mera shaadi ho, mere bache bhi hojaye and cahae woh lavanya teri biwi hojaye"...He stared at her irritatingly, she giggled and continued "Ok not lavanya, some one else is also fine, whatever it is and wherever we are I want you to bring these jalebis for me every year on my birthday". He replied "What the kushi...jalebi seriously??". She hugged him tightly as she said "Promise karo na arnav and I too will promise I will prepare this kheer for you". She asked him to just promise her when he thought how funny her wish was. Finally when he promised her that he will fulfill her funny wish she said "Arnav you are my sweetest friend, I love you" and he reciprocated by saying "I love you too sweety".

She was brought back from her memories when Anjali asked her to pass the bowl of kheer that she was holding from a long time. As she gave it to Arnav their eyes met for a second and moment of awkwardness surfaced when they both turned away from each other.

Note :- Arnav married Lavanya and don't think Kushi married NK. He was just behind her in college days😆.
Raizada's and Gupta's are great friends, Business Partners and neighbours.
What happened in Arshi's life and their past will be revealed in later chapters.

nice chapter...so Arnav married Lavanya...and got divorced later... judging from his dream, it seems that he was in love with her...

but judging from the fb, it feels like he didn't like her much... maybe he was in love with Khushi all along, but couldn't tell her...but then now he is married to her so he should be happy, no ?

maybe he was in love with La in the fb, but just didn't want to show Khushi that he is...hope not...hope he was just attracted and now he will realize how Khushi is his only love...

btw, since both are divorced i hope, they are not that attached to the exe's who doesn't deserve their love and loyalty
