PART 16

While going home,Payal and Khushi were silent.Kishore was talking non stop but Payal and Khushi were not listening.So he became silent.Khushi's memories went back to the day she met Arnav.Each and every incident came as a flash through her mind.And today both of them confessed to each other.She was feeling so happy to recall the words of Arnav.She touched her lips with her finger tips.Oh..so that was what it was like to be kissed...She felt an unknown ecstasy capturing her.She wanted him with her,wanted to rest her head against his shoulders...wanted to be in his hands...but suddenly she felt darkness around her..a fear...she could not control tears.Kishore felt some thing wrong but didn't ask.

It was nearly 1 o' clock.She decided to call Arnav.She wanted to hear his voice.But he didn't answer her call.She tried again and again.But he didn't answer.She sat near the window of her bedroom.A cool breeze was coming through it.She was thinking:How can I tell him the reason for not marrying him?

She again tried his number.She got him through and said:Hello..He didn't answer. He was listening but didn't say anything.Again she said:Arnav ji...I want to see you..I want to be with you...She was crying uncontrollably.

He switched off the phone because he could not take it any more. It was then he decided to go home and tell his family every thing.

Arnav told every thing in detail to Shyam, right from the beginning.Shyam listened patiently.At last he said:Arnav,we should not hurry for marriage, the first thing we have to do is to go and meet Khushi's parents.You and Aman already met them once.But not after the incident.Any way it was cruel to publish it in newspaper.

He continued:We three will go tomorrow and will meet them.Let me see their response and after that we will take a decision.

Arnav agreed .They discussed the same with Anjali ,Aakash and Aman.Still Anjali was unaware of the news paper incident.

As it was Monday,they decided to go to Khushi's house in the evening.To Arnav's dismay, Khushi didn't come to office.

Nani was only told that Arnav and Khushi like each other.Nani was happy but she wanted to consult pandit ji.She immediately called him.Arnav, Aakash and Shyam were not there when Pandit ji came.He conducted a small pooja and told Nani that Arnav will have a happy married life but there is going to be some huge trouble before the marriage.If he can over come that then every thing will be okay.Nani and Anjali were too frightened and sad.Nani didn't want to continue with the proposal even though she liked Khushi.Anjali didn't dare to ask Arnav to with draw from his decision.

Arnav and Aakash came back after work.They waited for Shyam and Kishore..Aman also joined.Nani and Anjali told pandit ji's opinion to Shyam,Aakash , Kishore and Aman while Arnav went to his room.

Aakash:What Pandit ji said is correct.Bhai is going through that phase.Now the marriage is going to happen.So every thing will be okay.

Shyam and Aman supported the statement.

Kishore:Nani ji, We are with Arnav Bhai know?Every thing will be okay.

Anjali wanted to go with them.But Nani asked her to wait.

Thus they went to Khushi's house without Anjali.Arnav was so tensed .He was totally silent throughout the journey.Aman understood what he was going through. Kishore was familiar with the way to her house.So he drove the car.

Aman rang the door bell.The door was opened by Garima.As it was very unexpected,she was too shocked to find him and others there.She didn't see Arnav as he was standing away from the door.She stood there without knowing what to do.She called :Khushi... Payal...

Buaji,Payal and Khushi hurried to the front door.They all were astonished to see all of them there.Still they didn't see Arnav.

Payal suddenly recomposed herself and invited all of them to the house.They could see that all were very tensed and annoyed to see them there.It was an uncomfortable situation.It was then Arnav entered.Garima made a sound that made every one startled, especially Arnav.She was looking at him with such a hate and fear that Aakash really wanted to flee from there.Arnav was looking at Khushi who was totally dumbfounded.She looked pleadingly at Garima and Buaji.

Aman broke the silence and introduced Shyam, aakash and Kishore.

Garima:May I know why are you here?

Aman:We are coming straight to the topic.

Khushi turned and ran to her room at that moment.She stood behind the door and listened.

Aman:Aunty, we are here to say sorry.

Garima:For what?

Shyam:We know what happened at Lucknow.I am apologising in the name of our family.Arnav is here to beg pardon of Khushi's father.

Garima laughed sarcastically.

Khushi could not control herself.She went to her father's room , went near his bed , sat near him and hugged him and cried.

Arnav stood up.He said :Aunty ...I'm sorry, I never thought that serious at that time.I..I..Liked Khushi very much..and I was blind with anger at that time.I repent and apologise for every thing.I'm ready to do any thing ..anything...for you and your family.

Garima was sitting like a statue.

Buaji:You shattered the dreams of two girls and destroyed a family.There is no meaning in asking for pardon.You should not have come here.

Aman:We know that Arnav has done a grave mistake.He has already repented and he will give you back all the happiness you deserve.

Garima asked sarcastically:Really?

Payal:You can never do that Mr.Raizada

Arnav:Why?

Buaji:Can you wipe away the filthy language used by the society on these two poor girls?No...Mr.Raizada..you cannot do any thing.

Arnav raised his voice: I can, that is why I'm here.

Aman saw Arnav getting angry.He hurried to Buaji's side and said:We want to meet Khushi's father.Where is he?

Garima's expression changed:You want to meet him?She suddenly stood up.Come with me.

They didn't understand and were looking at each other.She led the way to a corridor and a near by room.She opened the door and they saw Khushi sitting hugging a person on the bed.They slowly reached near the bed.Khushi looked up and got down.They saw a man lying on the bed staring into the roof.He was like a skeleton that Arnav and Aman didn't recognise him.His one side was paralysed.They got the shock of their life.

Aman:Oh my god...

Arnav was staring at Khushi's father.It took some time for him to recompose himself.Khushi and Payal went from there.

All returned to living room.

There was pin drop silence.

Garima to Arnav: Are you happy now Mr.Raizada?You know how happy we were?our house was full of laughter.Every thing ended because of you.

Arnav: I want to talk to Khushi

Garima:what about?

Shyam:Mrs.Gupta, I know what you are going through.We were not aware of Your husband's condition.Other wise we would have been here earlier.

Aman:exactly.

Shyam:Now we have to think about the remedies.We'll give the best treatment available in the world to him.

Payal:no..shyam ji..we can look after our father.

Kishore:Payal ,please understand the situation.what is important, your ego or your father's betterment?

Payal:Ego?

Arnav:I want to talk to Khushi.He started to move towards her room

Garima:Stop Mr.Raizada, on what right and authority you are going to talk to her?

Arnav said firmly and aloud:As her future husband.

It was Garima's and Buaji's turn to feel shocked.

Garima:You mean you are going to marry her?

Arnav:Yes, no doubt

Garima:And she said that she will marry you?

Arnav had no answer

Garima raised her voice:How can she marry her fiance's murderer?

What???? Aakash, Aman, Shyam and Kishore jumped to their feet together.Arnav was stopped in his track.

Aman:What rubbish you are talking?Are you mad?

Garima was now behaving like a mad woman.They heard Khushi screaming..No..No..mamma...

Arnav thought that he will faint.He was thinking:what is this woman talking about?

Aakash:Stop..don't even dare to say this nonsense about my bhai.You are mad

Garima fell crying on the sofa.

Buaji:What she said is right.I remember the curseful day in our life.It was one week after Shashi was admitted in the hospital.It was Rohit and his parents helping us for every thing.It was due to their support that we are alive.It was only they who believed us.They know our girls well.It was Rohit's father who had a talk with the neighbours.He gave such a warning to them that they didn't dare to criticise them openly.Khushi's father was recovering.Rohit's mother liked Khushi very much.One day she came with her husband and shared their thoughts with us.We didn't know how to thank them. But our sankadevi,..Khushi..didn't agree.She didn't even open the door of her room for two days because she...buaji stopped and looked at Arnav.It was Rohit who made her understand the situation.Still she was not ready.But Shashi ...for the first time...we saw him angry.He told her sternly to agree to the matter and that night again he was taken to hospital.Khushi was afraid to lose her father and thus she agreed to the proposal.But I know she was not ready for it.

Aakash was impatient now:Then what happened?

Buaji continued:we decided the engagement to take place within a few days.Rohit's parents suggested a change of residence to their nearby flat.Every thing was done by them.

All were waiting impatiently.Arnav was now standing with blood red eyes.Aman was standing near him.

She continued:Their engagement took place in that week in the flat itself.Shashi was too happy but our Khushi was silent, very silent and we were afraid.She didn't interact much.She was doing this for her father's sake.

One evening, as we were sitting in our living room, we heard a heart breaking cry from Rohit's flat.We ran towards there.We saw some locals in Rohit's flat talking to his father.His mother was lying unconscious.Within moments we understood that Rohit had a bike accident and he was no more.The moment my husband heard he had a paralysis strokeand fell unconscious. when he gained consciousness , he could not speak He understands every thing but cannot respond properly. We also heard after approximate one month that..

Khushi came running...No..Buaji..No...

Shyam:Tell us ..what happened ?

Buaji:That he was hit by the car of AR designers.

Aman and Aakash:What???

Payal:Yes...

Shyam:What rubbish is this?Why didn't they file a case then?

Garima:Khushi..you give the answer...tell them...

Khushi ran to her room and closed the door.

Aman:All of you are really mad.Arnav went to England three days after the incident and returned after a few months.

Garima:He can assign the task to some one know?

Arnav shouted:Stop it.Arnav singh Raizada is not a fool or devil to kill a boy to claim his love.You don't know me well.

I could have married Khushi on that night at sheesh mahal, or could have done some thing wrong to her.

He stopped...I don't want to talk to you..but I want to talk to Khushi right now.

Call her,Call her right now.He was roaring.

A frightened Buaji went to Khushi's door and knocked.She opened it after some time.Arnav went near her and asked straightly.His tone was dangerous:Khushi, do you think that I have done it?

Khushi looked down.He repeated the question.

She looked desperately at Garima and Buaji and at Arnav.

Arnav turned abruptly and left.He went outside the house and got inside the car.All others of Raizada house hurried after him.

OMG, Rohit was engaged to Khushi...i had my doubts, and they were right, he wanted to separate Khushi and Arnav...i dont think he is dead even...must be a lie to bring more distance between them...he must have got lots of money from someone and re-located to someplace else.

I am sorry but I think this rohit is not good...
He is playing games...
Y they all always force kushi to get engaged to someone...
N kushi thinks that arnav is behind rohits accident...
That is so sick...
I know he had done bad things but she should know he won't kill anyone...
