Mehndhi Night

All the lovely ladies in the Jha household were all decked and dressed for the Mehndhi. Fortunately, for the men - it was a woman's only function and they didn't have responsibilities as they did earlier in the day.

NK: What do you mean woman only??

Khushi: So - did you forget English because if you did you know I could totally translate in Hindi you know?

NK: Shut up Khushi!

Devani: Beta, it's a women who are putting mehndhi on each other - so technically there is no point of men attending

NK: That makes no -

Khushi: Aunty ki baat samaj nahin ayi, kya?

Khushi and NK started bickering again - which was the cue for Devani to walk away. Devani knew that NK and Khushi shared their own special kind of relationship - if she was honest, she always thought they'd end up together but it never came to it and she never wanted to ask her son - afraid of ruining their friendship.

NK: Come on Khush, tell me - will it not be boring without me?

Khushi: Oh yes because you're the only entertainment we have right???

NK: Alright, as you'd like - I'm not telling you anything about the bachelors party we're having tomorrow night!

Khushi: That's okay bandar.

NK: YEAH WELL - wait, what? You're not going to ask me? Question me? Pester me till I'm forced to tell you?!

Khushi: I have my own fun to look forward to, so believe me I'll be okay not knowing.

NK: What is THAT supposed to mean?

Payal: What she means is my brother in law is that - we have our own bachelorette party tomorrow night.

Payal walked in with Akash in to the living area. Akash turned to look at Payal, cocking his eyebrow up.

Payal: Kya hua - hum nahin kar sakte?

Akash: No no - of course you can.

NK started laughing as Aarav made his way down the stairs.

Aarav: What's all the commotion about? Payal, my dear lady - aren't you looking splendid?

Aarav winked at Payal who was dressed in a lovely blush and lavender colored churidaar for the mehndhi.

Aarav turned and bowed at Khushi who became flustered - and as red as the choli she was wearing.

Aarav: You know Khushi - after seeing you today, I'm convinced you must've been a princess in another lifetime.

Khushi was wearing a beautiful red choli with a green lehenga. Her hair was pindrop straight tucked behind her ears.

Khushi: Aarav ji - woh aap ---

Aarav: Please Khushi - stop with the ji. I feel like I'm an old man! Now NK, what were you laughing about so loudly before I was distracted by Khushi?

NK rolled his eyes and pulled Khushi next to him with his arm around her shoulders.

NK: Apparently - we're not allowed at the mehndhi.

Khushi: I didn't say you're not allowed - I said guys usually don't come !

NK: ANYWAY stop interrupting me! So Khushi mentioned to me that the girls are having a bachelorette party tomorrow - can you even imagine? It's going to be a bunch of girls at Lavanya's place in their PJ's drinking - sans Khushi and Payal of course (NK winked at Khushi) and watching old Bollywood movies.

Khushi started laughing and so did Payal.

NK: What - what's so funny?

Khushi slid away from NK and grabbed Payal's hand.

Khushi: Now it's my turn to laugh - because if that's your idea of what we'll be doing - my oh my aren't you mistaken bandar.

Khushi winked at NK and ran away to the beginning of the party. NK felt his mouth drop open slightly as Aarav amusingly took in NK and Khushi's interaction.

NK: I'm sure she's kidding - I mean what the hell are they going to do in their party?

Aarav: I don't know man - seems like they've got some planning done and here we are thinking we'll enjoy the night with drinks at the bar.

NK and Aarav both turn to Akash who was texting away on his phone.

NK: BHAI! What are you doing - and why are you not interested?

Akash: What does it matter NK?

Akash kept texting away attentively on his phone without looking up at NK.

NK: Bhai - you have to ask Payal Di! Absolutely have to - you know Lavanya won't spill the beans - I mean crap -- I didn't even know they were going to have a damn bachelorette party! Bhai? Bhai? Are you listening to me?

Aarav: I mean Akash -man, what if they decided on male strippers or something?

Akash stopped mid text and looked at Aarav appalled.

Akash: No Aarav - they

Aarav: Why not?

Akash: Payal wouldn't - she'd tell me...I think.

NK: Come on Bhai, you've got to find out from Payal Di !

Akash: Okay - I'll - I'll try.

NK: Alright so I'm going to head to Arnav's place - let's go Aarav?

Aarav: Yeah - let's head out. Akash are you going to come?

Akash: No - actually, yeah it be perfect - Arnav and I never finished talking about the joint venture and I've found some financers ---

Aarav and NK groaned simultaneously at their workaholic companion.

The mehndhi was in full swing. All the girls were getting mehndhi applied and dancing to old melodious songs.
