PART 2

It was Sunday evening, and Khushi really started missing Payal by now, who had gone out with Akash in the morning itself. She had spent the whole morning and afternoon all alone and now she decided to go out and enjoy some evening sunshine. She put on her new orange color kurti which suited her perfectly, along with a nice pair of jeans. She left her hair open and put on a cute pair of ear rings and she came out of her apartment looking really pretty.

She took a rickshaw to the beach which was her favorite hangout place. She reached there soon and went and sat down on the sand. As she gazed at the setting sun, she realized that it was high time she too had someone special in her life. Now, even Payal had found herself a boyfriend. She closed her eyes and Arnav's smiling face swam into her mind's vision. A miserable smile appeared on her lips and she thought "Where are you Arnav? Won't I ever meet you again?". A small tear drop formed in the corner of her eye. Suddenly, she felt something hit the back of her head and she opened her eyes surprised at the sudden blow. She then found a ball lying in her lap and was delighted to realize that this was the same ball which had landed in her lap a few weeks ago. "Excuse me..could you please pass the ball.." This time it was not the voice of Suhani, it was a rich baritone voice. She looked up at the direction of the voice and couldn't believe her eyes. She blinked away the tears in her eyes, just to make sure she was actually seeing what she saw. Yes, the man was Arnav himself..Arnav Singh Raizada!!

He was wearing a grey t-shirt and faded blue jeans. He was looking even more handsome, than the last time she saw him. Khushi just sat there itself, staring at Arnav, dumbfounded. She was stunned beyond limits. Just then, Arnav recognized that this was the same girl whom he had noticed the other day on the same beach, the girl he thought he knew from somewhere in his past.

Ar: Ball , please..(Indicating her lap)..
But Khushi looked at the ball, which was lying in her lap, and again stared at Arnav.
Kh:(uncertainly) Errr...Yeh ball aapka hain..? Par yeh toh..??

In his mind, Arnav was debating with himself whether he should ask her directly if they knew each other or not. But before he could ask anything, Suhani came running towards them and took the ball from Khushi's lap.

Su: Haan Aunty..Yeh ball humara hain..

Khushi was really in a shocked state and she didn't know what to say or do.

Kh:Ohh..(She looked at Arnav and then at Suhani and again at Arnav)

Suhani caught hold of Arnav's hand and tugged it, urging him to follow her.
Su: (to Arnav) Ab aap bhi chaliye na..

Arnav followed Suhaani without asking Khushi any of his questions.

Feeling transfixed, Khushi just watched Arnav and Suhani walking away hand in hand. A lot of questions welled up inside her mind.."Arnav is choti si bacchi ke saath kya kar rahe hain..?".."Kya ye Arnav ki beti hain..?".."Hey Devi maiyya..Kya Arnav ne shaadi kar lee.. ?" ..

She felt as if her world was crashing and tears filled in her beautiful eyes.
Suddenly, she was surprised to hear a strong voice issuing from her mouth.
Kh:(loudly and anxiously) Arnav...(standing up) ARNAVVV...!!
The initial shock had left her, and now a strange helpless feeling took its place. She felt as if her life was leaving her.
Arnav stopped in his tracks and turned back. He saw Khushi standing there as if she was about to cry. He walked back to her, in a swift pace.
Ar:(feeling concerned) Kya hua..? Tum ro kyun rahi ho...? Aur tumhe mere naam kaise pata..? Kya main tumhe jaanta hoon..?
Suddenly everything went dark around her

She felt water splashing on her face and someone patted her cheeks as if trying to wake her up .Slowly she opened her eyes, she saw Arnav's face. A faint smile appeared on her lips and she mouthed softly "Arnav..". She looked around and saw Suhani's face , nearby. Suddenly everything came back to her as she regained her consciousness. She realized that her head was lying in Arnav's lap, then she looked around and saw a lot of people gathered around them to watch the scene. Understanding that she had fainted in front of Arnav, she tried to get up feeling embarrassed. Arnav offered to help her ,which she denied, and now she was back again on her feet. Arnav also got up and was feeling very much concerned about her.

Ar: Tum teek ho..?
Kh: I am ok..(not looking at Arnav, overwhelmed by her feelings)
The on looking crowd slowly cleared away murmuring something or other. Khushi stood there unable to decide on where to start the conversation.

Ar: Main tumhe ghar chod doon..? Iss haalat mein tum akele mat jaao...
Kh: No No ..I am ok..(nervously shaking her head)

Ar: (seriously) Dekho..Main kuch nahin sunoonga..Tum humare saath aa rahe ho bas.. Suhani beta, Aunty ke haath pakdo aur gaadi tak leke jaao..

Suhani did as Arnav told and she led Khushi towards the car, and Arnav followed.
They all got into the car. Khushi and Suhani got into the back seat and Arnav into the driving seat. Soon the car was moving along the road. Arnav decided to ask Khushi the thing which was troubling him for so many days. He adjusted the rear view mirror in the front and looked at Khushi. She was gazing outside through the car's window.
Ar: Waise..tumne yeh nahin kaha ke tum mere naam kaise jaante ho..

Khushi knew this was coming and she too was ready with the answer. She didn't notice him looking at her through the rear view mirror and she looked at his side face and answered.
Kh: Main aap ki behen Ankita ki saheli hoon..Maine uski shaadi mein aapko dekha hain..

Ar:(turned around to face her) Oh...Tabhi toh..Mujhe aise laga tha ke maine tumhe kahin dekha hain..Waise..Naam kya hain tumhara..?(again looking to the front to check the road)
Kh: Khushi..Khushi Gupta
Ar: Hmm..Where should I drop you then..? Tum kahan rehti ho..?
Khushi told him her address and he took the car along the direction of her apartment.

He thought, "Par ye ro kyun rahi thi..? Shaayad kisi problem mein hogi.."
But Khushi's mind was reeling. She needed to ask him a lot of questions. But it won't be nice if she asked questions like.." Aapki shaadi ho gayi?" or "Kya, Suhani aapki beti hain?" etc. After all they were still acquaintances and barely knew each other to ask such personal queries. She decided to probe in a safer way..
Kh: Arnav..
Ar: Hmm..(tilting his face sideways as if listening to her and still checking the road )
Kh: Yeh bachi kaun hain..?
Ar: Suhani ..? Suhani beta..Aunty ko apna introduction do..

Suhani, who was not very much interested in the conversation which was going on, was looking outside the car window and enjoying the view. When she heard Arnav calling her name she turned around and began to talk in her sweet and adorable manner.

Su: Main inki padosi hoon. Arnav uncle, mere Papa ke dosth hain aur woh humare flat ke paaswale flat mein rehte hain... Mere Mummy aur Papa shaam ko busy hote hain..Issi liye uncle mujhe beach pe ya park pe leke jaate hain..Main kahin bhi boloon, yeh mujhe leke jaate hain...I just love him...!

Saying so, Suhani got up from her seat and hugged Arnav from behind. Khushi laughed for the first time in that day. She was relieved of all her misgivings and suddenly inhaled a fresh breath of happiness. All of a sudden she felt a lot of love to this cute little girl, Suhani.

But she didn't notice that they had already reached in front of her apartment complex. Arnav stopped the car.
Ar: Yehi jagah boli thi na tumne..?(turning around to her)

With a jolt, Khushi realized that Arnav was again going to move away from her life. Some kind of voice inside her head was advising her "Unhe jaane mat dena Khushi..Phir se door chale jayenge"..

Suddenly she decided to try her luck.

Kh: Aap log andar kyun nahin aate...(sweetly)
Ar:Nahin Khushi..It's already late. Suhani ke mummy papa wait kar rahe honge..
Kh: (turned to Suhani instead)Suhani beta..Tum mere saath ek ice cream toh kha sakti ho na..
Su:(widens her eyes)Hawww..ICE CREAM..Which flavor??
Kh:(widening her eyes, and whispers merrily) Strawberry..!!
Su:Arnav uncle..Chaliye na..Please..
Ar:(smiling)Ok Baba..Ok..

Arnav and Suhani followed Khushi to her apartment. She felt really excited at the prospect of Arnav visiting her home. She was positively thrilled and a "butterfly fluttering feeling" in her stomach increased with each step she took.

She opened the door to her residence and invited Arnav and little Suhani inside. Arnav gazed around the sitting room which was neat and cosy, and he was quite impressed by the way in which things were arranged nicely in a graceful manner. Khushi asked them to sit down and she went into the kitchen and took out some ice cream from the refrigerator. She went back into the sitting room and served the three of them with strawberry ice cream.

Ar:( while having the ice cream): Khushi..Tum Mumbai se ho..?
Kh: Nahin..Lucknow.. I came to Mumbai when I got my job. Ab chaar saal ho gaye yahan pe.
Ar: Oh alright..Tum yahan pe akeli rehti ho kya..?
Kh:(smiling)Actually No..Main apni jeeji, Payal ke saath yahan rehti hoon.
Ar:Oh..Ok.. Mujhe yahan Mumbai aake sirf do mahine huye..Suhani ke papa, Nakul mera best friend hain..Uski madat se mujhe yahan pe job mila.
Kh:Acha...(smiles) And your Maa aur Papa..Woh log Delhi mein hi rehte hain na..
Arnav's expression suddenly changed as if he had tasted something bitter.

But Khushi failed to notice this when she heard Suhani's voice and looked at her instead.

Su:Oh no..!!Mumma mujhe daantegi..!
Suhani had dropped some ice cream in her dress.
Khushi went up to her and helped her up.
Kh:Its ok Suhani beta..Come on let's go to the wash room..

And saying so, she took the poor kid to the washroom so as to clean her dress.
Arnav gritted his teeth as he thought about his Papa, Mr. Abhinav Raizada, who was responsible for the death of Samaira, his girlfriend. He remembered the day he came to know about that.

{{ For the past six years, he didn't know the real reason behind her death. He had thought that it had been a road accident. He had blamed himself for not being with her at that time when she needed him the most and gradually turned into a hard core alcoholic. It was only with the help of alcohol that he could survive the bitter pangs of lost love.

Two years later after Samaira's death, his sister Ankita's wedding changed everything. On the eve of her wedding she had pleaded with him to quit drinking. She made him promise her that he would never drink again after that day, by placing his hand upon her head. Since he loved her dearly, ( she was his only sister after all) he quit drinking and started life afresh on her wedding day, which was the very next day.

From that day Arnav joined their family business to help his Papa. His parents were really happy to see the change in him and everything went on nicely for the Raizada Family for over four more years. But precisely two months ago, Arnav happened to overhear his parents' conversation and he learned that his Papa had created the accident with the help of a hired professional killer, because he didn't want a middle class daughter in law.

He had barged into his parents' room and swore that he would send his father to the jail. But his mother, Swarupa fell at his feet and begged him not to do so. He packed his things and left his house the very same day, pledging that he would never ever go back again. He decided to get a life of his own.

Nakul had helped him out of his dilemma and gave him a life in Mumbai. After meeting Suhani, Arnav found a new cute little friend and she brought all the happiness back into his life. }}

Suddenly Khushi's mobile started ringing and he came out of his reverie. It was lying on the couch opposite to Arnav.

Arnav thought for a moment if he should take the phone and go to Khushi or wait for her to come back. But, then he thought , "Agar important call hua toh". He decided to go and give the phone to Khushi. But just as he went and picked up the phone, it stopped ringing. As he gazed at the screen of the phone, he was really shocked...Or surprised??He couldn't say.

Ar: Arre yeh toh meri tazveer hain!!..?? Khushi ne meri tazveer apne wallpaper banayi hain..! Ajeeb baat hain..!

As he stood there with Khushi's phone in his hand, suddenly he heard voices of Khushi and Suhani coming back. Hastily he placed back the phone and when they came back they found him sitting on the couch and casually reading a magazine.
Su: Arnav uncle..Aunty ne sab saaf karli..

Ar: (getting up) Ok Suhani..Ab tum Aunty se Bye bolo..
Su: Bye Aunty.

Khushi suddenly began to feel sad. Now there was no way to stop them going. She cursed her fate silently.

Arnav walked up to Khushi and faced her.

Ar: (trying to sound casual) Ok Khushi..It was nice meeting you..

Khushi couldn't say anything and she just nodded forcing herself a smile. Arnav was surprised to see tears slowly filling her eyes. He was perplexed.

Ar: Ok..Hum chalte hain ab..Aao Suhani..

And saying so both of them turned and walked away from Khushi. She stood there fighting back her tears.

Half an hour later, Payal came back after her date with Akash. She found Khushi in the bedroom, who was standing at the window, looking outside. She ran to her and hugged her happily from behind.

Pa: (excitedly) Khushiii...Main bahut khush hoon..

Khushi turned and looked at her, hastily wiping the tears in her eyes.
Kh: Arre jeeji..tum kab aaye..

Payal pulled out from the hug and faced Khushi. Payal noticed that there were tears in her eyes and she placed her hands on Khushi's shoulder, feeling concerned about her.
Pa: Kya hua Khushi..Tum ro rahi thi na..?
Kh: Nahin toh...
Pa: Jhoot mat bolo Khushi..Kya baat hain..batao.

Khushi narrated the whole story to Payal. After hearing everything Payal was actually smiling..
Pa: (excitedly) Kya baat hain, Khushi..!! Tumhe toh khush hona chahiye..
Kh: Woh kyun..?

Pa: (puts her arm around Khushi and leads her towards the bed) Dekho...Ab ye hi soch lo ke Bhagwaan ne tumhari sunn lee...
She made Khushi sit down on her bed. Then she sat down beside her and hugged her affectionately.
Kh: Matlab..

Pa: (happily)Pagli..Arnav Mumbai mein hain..!! Pichle do mahinon se..Yeh bhagwan ji ka ishaara nahin hain to aur kya hain Khushi.. Zara socho..Woh Delhi se apne job ke silsile mein kahin bhi jaa sakte the..Par dekho na..woh yahan aagaye..Tumhare paas..Kismat ne tum donon ko milaya hain Khushi..Arnav se milna, tumhara sapna tha na..Ab tum bas dekhti jaao..Iss "Sapnon ke nagri" Mumbai mein tumhara bhi sapna poora hoga..!(she finished excitedly)

Khushi cheered up a little hearing Payal's words..Khushi turned and looked back through the window at the city around, which she could view from there. It was full of shimmering lights twinkling here and there and she felt warmth spreading throughout her body. The wind caressed her face and she felt relaxed. May be jeeji was right. " Shaayad yeh sapna sach bann jayega"...
