THEY came.. WE saw.. THEY conquered!!
I am an absolute Anjali when it comes to IPK. Reluctant to accept that it's a tv show that had an end! Nah.. they are there somewhere by that pool side...with their chiseled silhouettes reflecting and wafting on that wall bedecked with vines... .reveling and squabbling, playing and pranking...no matter what...falling for one another definitively!
There is a beauty in her innocence... her virtue, there is a beauty in his anger ... under laid with an unmistaken conscience...there is a charm in that Gupta house verandah ...and one in that scarcely decorated master suite of RM... not to mention the material beauty in front!
Like a euphonious piece of music.. that pleases and immerses. Ironically it indeed has a music that spoke as eloquently about the emotion displayed and stays with one for very very long!
There is love and laughter..
There is depravity and decency..
Quantity and quality rarely co-exist. But that seemed to have happened with this supposed trite tv show. It does have the quality of a rare piece of art and many number of... that seem to only ascend every year...fluttering hearts.
The most ideal amalgamation of all the components...of everything and everyone involved... the hard to conceive and achieve perfect alchemy...as if personally directed by someone above... and it is bound to stay with one for a long time!
Could I go back and harvest the purity and pulchritude etched in every frame and distill an elixir?!
Elixir... that's what this love story is... exquisite and eternal ...whose taste or allure doesn't fade with time..
As long as eyes can see and beauty can be admired...the artistry of IPK will be appreciated!
Cos
A thing of beauty is a joy forever!!
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!
hi indu,
are you my twin? for now i know who i am when it comes to ipk. yes... the anjali me too. 😆
beautiful paean to a show that happened how and why i'll never really know or understand. perhaps it is that unseen hand you mention, perhaps it is random chance. gautam hegde in his otherwise not too moving message to a fan group mentioned how it's been five years since making a star one type of show work on star plus. i had known that ipk was pitched for star one and a channel exec thought it might work in the mother channel, looking to catch a target audience that they felt might be there.
slightly cheaper, fairly tacky shows go on star plus's channel aimed at the young. i don't know of any one that's become phenomenal. geet was much loved by its young fan base, made drashti dhami's career possibly, but it was popular. nothing more.
and on star plus, we all know the kind of big blustery and perfectly bilious shows that are telecast ad nauseum.
so if we talk of platform, it wasn't there. take the production house, see its many shows, some are popular, some fairly well made, but that's all. and let's not forget, they made qh, where the story went to planet bizarre with such ease and stayed on there after having started with much fanfare and possibly even a story line. i sometimes think how did the people who made qh, make ipk? is it even possible?
the same creatives have made enough and more nondescript stuff all over tvdom. gh writes constantly, so does ved raj. i think raju singh did the music for ashoka... yeah, a ring to ashoka hai ashoka... but where's the smooth sleek panther move of asr's music or the upward and inward reach of rabba vey...
as for actors, mami ji my favourite does a perfectly forgettable mother in a fairly well liked romantic story which has gone and lost its way entirely, think it's over now. bua ji was there in a banaras based serial, i couldn't feel the nuance in her acting. almost all actors, lead or otherwise have worked on tv since then, yet the impact they made with ipk remains unchallenged. sanaya did two shows as the lead in quick succession.
while everyone involved with ipk was talented... it was not enough to make them create what they did for ipk.
of course, our hero has been invisible since then, so i really have no idea what's to come with him. but i have seen his previous work... you could sense the talent, it was sometimes even in evidence in shravan or swayam, but no, you didn't go nuts wondering in which scene he was wearing that or lose your concentration at the thought of a voice asking kya kar rahi ho tum.
take the same elements, the same environment, and put it all together, and yet, will you get ipk?
i loved your words, perfect alchemy.
sometimes base metals can be raised to noble ones. gold can be made, pure molten rare shining true. the alchemist guarded her/his work with symbols and cryptic symbolism, says wiki. i think in the plain walls of a tycoon's room, in his flat brown carpet, his low straight lines bed, in the still waters of his pool, the plastic vine covered walls, and in a plait off centre, these codes are embedded. who knows maybe gota and pompoms are repositories of this arcane knowledge too. and that verandah at gupta house you mentioned. have you noticed how many railings it has? maybe something is hidden in them?
elixir, yes it is, and i shall drink long from it. so will you, i get the feeling. 😆
lovely edit... the payal, the burn in the eyes, the innocent gazelle like trepidation in the turn of head and expression.
