my thought: he was in an intensely vulnerable state of mind actually the first time we met him. he was coming back to lucknow to take back what was his. but in the way of the jungle, where might is right. for he had been given no choice. his right as son was taken away by a feckless father. his right to his home, usurped by an opportunist uncle. 12 years of suffering the consequences and doing all to overcome them. turning into a man behind a thick impenetrable wall. being courageous, himmat dikhai maine, and becoming an adult practically overnight shouldering all responsibilities of sister, home, later grandmother and family. yet, inside there was always that boy with a scream truncated. today he'd heard it standing right before where it had left his being the first time, that terrible day.

he comes and buys the place. controlled, cool, focusing on revenge. nothing else.

and all that vulnerability sits inside, no release for it. his sister speaks of his being tied to the past and the effect it has on him. on cue he says of course it doesn't bother him, this was a business decision.

at the fashion show, we see him closing his eyes, as though fatigued deeply. possibly he is. imagine the pent up feelings of sheesh mahal. and the churning of it all this day. it's an important event for him, yet he is cutting out of it.

then she arrives and falls into his arms. a jerk back to the present. those lips so close. who is this? what is happening. his show is ruined. anger steps in, possibly the only response in this situation. and his familiar defence.

the whole thing of who sent you here gets going. all the happenings of the day still buried deep.

then their interaction, her mention of jiji's wedding, it will break, his scathing insult: let it, girls like you, what difference does it make, one goes, you'll find the next. and her hurt upset retort: kya bakwaas kar rahen hai aap? aap kuch bhi bole jaa rahen hain, and who are you, after me for so long, what if someone spoke like this of your family, what if it were your sister, what if people spoke of her like this... boliye! hai koi jawab?"

at the mention of his sister, whose wedding had fallen apart, on the same day his mother had killed herself, all memories rushing back, end of day, he's tired, angry, dimaag not in full operation, he's beginning to come apart, but he stands there just staring, fire growing in eyes.

she says: badtamizi bhi ki bhi had hoti hai, hat jaiye hamare raastey se. humey jaaney dijiye.

and she begins to walk away.

think he snapped at that "badtameezi."

it happened once much later too. he'd walked right away from his father and his "galat" position in life, refusing to be tainted by it in the slightest. being "sahi" is paramount. he possibly had a fear that there may be something of his dad in him asserted by genes and he struggled to free himself. badtameez was not what he wanted to be associated with. ever. especially in relation to women.

yet, such is character, he had that anger, a trait reminiscent of his father if we take naniji's words into account. his nostrils had just flared a bit. he was at the edge. all the feelings of the whole day. not letting emotion get the better of him. now this.

with that peremptory get out of my way as she walks away, he loses it, pulls her back: badtamizi toh maine abhi shure bhi nahin ki hai.

all control so strictly imposed, lost.
and he transgresses. with another snapping.

tumhe jawab chahiye na? ye loh.

after that, he stood. staring with unseeing eyes. when she loosened her hair and covered her exposed back, looked for a second as though something registered. and he just stood, lost in a world that no one was given access to. she walked away. this time he didn't resist.


he certainly was not himself at the moment. now the more i see it the more i sense this. all the anguish of sheesh mahal. his mother's death, betrayal, suicide, hell, all the pain was in his mind today. she became unfortunately the one that got him to touch it all today, with that question about his sister.

i don't know if what i say is valid. these are just interpretations.

Episode 2

He dropped his gaze to her lips and that made her self conscious and she wanted him to let her go and put her down at once! What the! That really irked him. Though he was more enraged with himself than her. What the was he doing holding on to a stranger in his arms, cushioning her fall, saving her from crashing down from the ramp and hurting herself!

A girl who no doubt had been sent by his rivals, his enemies in Lucknow hell bent on destroying the sweet victory of his acquisition of Sheeshmahal,1. a goal no doubt he had set for himself the day he had been turned out of the house by his uncle so many years ago.

So he set her down with a sudden rude jerk and pushed her away from him roughly, as far away as he could.

In the process she lost the dupatta, her symbolic haya, izzat reflected in her teary eyes. But even as a confused, terrified Khushi was being dragged away by Arnav's musclemen she had the presence of mind to retrieve her dupatta, her self respect in a scary place away from home. Above all she had a mission to accomplish, to find out if the man her Jiji was marrying was the dowry taking type, and to convince him maybe with her Khushi type speech that dowry was a social evil! (I can well imagine Khushi delivering that speech!) And being locked away was preventing her from doing the needful on time. Hayye Devi Maiyya!

Arnav was angry with her for spoiling his show no doubt. But his fury bordered on paranoia..2. .the fear maybe of losing everything to a woman again. No doubt she reminded him of the woman who was responsible for the break up of his parents marriage, the death of his unfaithful father and the loss of his beloved mother and with her his sukoon, his peace of mind...

The other woman he saw reflected in Khushi was no doubt of loose character, low aukat, a gold digger, who had roped in his father because of his riches( not that he blamed his father any less for he had dropped his father's surname and taken his mothers maiden one). Khushi's reference to her sisters marriage no doubt brought to his mind the painful memory of his Di's broken marriage. Khushi actually3. unknowingly had touched a raw nerve and he lost his control.

But the snap of her dori was also a rap on his tough exterior, the wall he had built around him.

In their first meeting when he had held her in his arms and gazed into her eyes and felt like tasting her lips, he was a goner! The dose of his long lost sukoon had just arrived! Just like the homeopathic medicine that enhances an ailment first before curing it this ajeeb pyaar would unfold in a similar manner...Iss pyaar ko kya naam doon?

First epi starts from the point where both are shown out there to right a wrong..She was there to talk to her Jijaji for dowry just for her SISTER and he was there to get their home back where he was thrown out with his sister and today he bought it for his SISTER.Both have a mission ...just to protect sisters...his main soul reason of his life ..Anjali and her is Payal and these two sister become the reason of their union.

These two epis shows his image of success...paisa...money and power but besides getting all his ego is still there hurting him in return ...the GREAT ASR is still 14 years old child playing these hide and seek games ...with himself to beat the odds of his painful past

They are meeting at a crowded place ...awww...the pull which was making them unaware of their surroundings set the fire right there...She fell on his heart which picked up that thudding beat by seeing her mesmerizing beauty and innocence which made his eyes landing over her lips...which later he couldn't resist touching and adoring in guest house...but at this moment the alarm rings in him...how can he let that happen.He can't give his heart that permission and how did this low aukat gal can dare doing that...she has entered where no one can .A concealed Arnav as ASR...yes the same man will reveal his heart "Dil ki baat " where he openly accepts

" Kitni sundar hai na Khushi ... uski aankhen ... uske baal .. uske honth" ... but not in front of her...she doesn't know that...

Arnav , with his painful state, closed eyes...regardless has won the place but still peace is far far from his heart...his claim that he has moved on but he was more into this whirlpool of pain than ever ...but a pull...a strong pull makes him ...brings him out of that frozen avalanche which compels him to open his eyes and he follows that pull ...this is destiny but amazingly

Behind closed eyes at that place...his PAST

sitting there in between this war ...his PRESENT

and he is meeting his fate ...Khushi ...in front of his eyes...his FUTURE

because this pull of future is what makes him forget everything in diwali, in heer ranjha, and he even on wedding night when he says

" khushi mein aaj tumhare saamne khada hoon..par nafrat aur dard keh elawah kuch nahi..."

yes that is the same as here...I made my VM on this point but thnx to BIG fish for eating it..

The moment she falls in his arms .. he is lost , she is lost as no one else exits in their surroundings... but Khushi's embrace around him... before she starts to struggle in his arms ... while he was lost in her beauty ... she was holding on to him ...as always and that rejection in her eyes from his need makes him angry...HE WANTS TO BE NEEDED...even though it was so early but he liked it...that she was holding on to him... which he doesn't care now but this makes him fall for her when he brings her from Guest house and she clutches on to him and then in Nainital and this is his expectation at the top of hill when her lifeless hand doesn't do that and his fears starts raging him...

this hold on to always remain in the picture...whether she was in his office...regardless he was an angry boss or in Shantivan because in her unconscious she knows he is her pillar to hold on and we see that clearly when she cries on his shoulder after Shyam's exposure or holds his arm seeing his Jiji and Akash happy at the hill...and always

Here comes the stepping up either in hate or love towards his love and her towards resistance accepting it because of that.

Arnav walks towards her & she walks back ... a cute start of this hate and love chess game which ends by Arnav's check mate by winning his Queen after kidnapping ...nah wrong after Daadi's arrival and his claim to ' jahn mari patnoi nahi aa sakti wahan meri koi zaroorat nahin " and he comes to her base point standing right next to her...

Now comes my most fav scene "PEARLS" and I can see your faces...with this ...not again Faiqu...😆

I just said above, Arnav compliments Khushi during Holi but not in front of her...in front of Nani and Anjali...but go one step behind in these stepping game...after Sangeet he did it..."yeh rang tum pe utna bhi bura nahi lagta"..never directly and even while adoring her ankles with her payals.."these are beautiful" in GH after TV biwi game...instead of praising her beautiful feet which he was adoring during Diwali...till he puts mustache on her after Haldi "Khushi tum sach main bohat khoobsurat ho"

Now when he breaks her Dori..look at his face,he is hurt doing that...why because he reads that "Sach " truth ...innocence in her eyes which always was there but she triggered the avalanche by reminding him off his mission...saving and protecting his Di...and same happens on the dreadful night when he looks at hers eyes and then lips while standing at the stairs...closing fists...her innocence and her words "Chod dijiye Anjaliji ko"

and that happens all the time when he rejects her innocence .. he rejects what is his heart is saying...not mind...and that is why when he tells her teh truth , while standing outside teh GH ...his closed eyes are remembering all of this but those words manipulate and challenge his judgement...breaking Dori ...Duppatta under his feet meaning rejecting the innocence and purity of the PULL which he has and she feels in her Dhak Dhak ...till Holi..."when he tells her upon her request "Humari sansain ek ho jaatin hain...

While PEARLS...Symbol of innocence and purity of emotions which both feel in the form of tears, fears, smiles ,pains, but while rejecting her innocence and embracing her with all of these ...in return he felt the same "Har Bar"

Yes ...he let her go because he was adamant that she is wo aurat...who looks innocent yet full of deceit...but his heart knew all along that she was innocent...till at the Airport..."Kyuon Khushi se door jane main itti Takleef ho rahi hai..."

Khushi's dream where Arnav embraces her with pearl necklace and this comes just after his acceptance of "I Love U Khushi" on the phone ... in her heart she knows all the time , he has accepted her innocence but she was still in her bafflement till he gives her again after adoring her with her fav things...chanas...and all accepting her as his...for Hamesha on Rakhi epi...and that day he embraces her putting all doubts and ego aside just keeping the torch of love higher than her imagination...He embraced her and after that keeps her in his safe cacoon

yes he gets angry when she brings Shyam home but he doesn't doubt her...and that is why when his heart accepts her innocence which he is seeing here ...there was no need of proof...because TRUST was always there but acknowledement wasn't there...The Truth was in his heart which he rejected in Epi 2 but when he says I love You .. he accepts the truth that ... Khushi was innocent all along.

Then protecting her innocence , her way .She answers him in the same tone as it is , "Aap hain kaun aur kab se humare peeche pade hain..."

Her covering her back with her hair...which makes him lowers his gazes right there...WOW.loved this part...He has fallen way down in respecting this Low Aukat here..Mr Possessive...because he never crosses any limit respecting her values...not even once ...He drapes her with her own hair when NK is ogling her back...He just can't see anyone looking at her and then he does the same after sangeet...He accepts her beauty "uske Baal" in front of Nani and Anjali...on Holi...and later on his Maafi night "Tum khule balon main bohat achi lagti ho..."He tells her by himself...

Most significant moments

Episode starts with GH and two pigeons at the top of the door...same in Sheesh Mahal...Messengers over Air...who knows their destination by heart..these while birds are beyond any TRUST which any human can have or build...that is why there was no need of words...Both always felt their presence with air...and Trust thet in all the time of need he will be there and he knew always she will be there...a Pride "Khushi Kumari Gupta Singh Raizada..." and before that her confession to her heart " hawaon se aapki batain karte hain..."

The setting Sun over him and the Moon falls upon when she comes ...Ganpati in his way...showing the power of an intelligence and victorious mind along with Clock...the Time which has been stopped in his life regardless he has moved on..."main kab ka peeche chod chuka hoon..." he tells his di...but he is still 14 years old who is still holding his di to take her some safe place.

Must say HotStar ...yikes I am praising them...these Shots ...ahhh...taking my heart away.

Episode 1:

His trust in general goodness around is long lost. It is one grave tragedy to lose both the parents on the same day quite shockingly and it is completely another to be left stranded on the roadside without a roof over one's head with no caring arm around the shoulder at a tender age. He may have gone miles ahead in life, but his heart is pretty much caged in that one moment... without a closure.. as Anjali said on that stage. His uncle's betrayal is a center stone in shaping his personality.

Khushi, although unfortunate to have met the same tragedy as his, is blessed with a caregiver in her testing times. But her plight is different, to be heavily bogged down a gratitude for this family. With happy, chirpi, sanka ness as her defense she has evolved to mask her loneliness.

Most of these seem to have been talked about in the past few pages by all and I totally agree with them all.

They both may have distinct self defense mechanisms and may have diametrically opposite functional modalities in life.. but their urge to seek a closure to a years long hurt remains similar. "Shayad mera dil tumhe pukar tha hai" he said...his voice reaching, touching depths of soul..and she needed him as much as he needed her!

Note: wrote the following lines, an entire symbolic depiction, a month ago. But took another full month to make any relevant edits. Now this seems almost obsolete..but once I scribble it has to reach these pages..:)

This was perhaps one of the most consistent thing in this show. If you recall in the episode where he saves her from that wreck there was a role reversal. Anjali and Payal were there as a saviour. Both stood for their siblings and later also after first sorry again the same siblings trying to help them. At times it was more like Love story of siblings through out. This is why i so loved this show that it was not just about two lovers but also about loving others in family.

@ Pink - This was one of the best scenes of IPK. How can one not fall in love with someone at this point. Coming back to the scene - I always have wondered what made him do this act? He was always the guy who have respected woman. So what was it? Was as Indi mentioned a state of his Vulnerability or was it her accusing him of Badtameez as to him he is everything but a Budtameez. Or was it the need to show her that he is powerful and can do anything. He was hell bound to hurt her, disrespect her because ASR kisise haarta nahi and ek ladkise to bilkul bhi nahi😕. But to me the best thing was Khushi pulling her hair band to loosen her hair making sure that what may come she is not going to loose her dignity👏 And then when he looks down was that because he is trying to judge her yet again or was it like you said respect for her? Or was it that how come this girl is not over him like his models?

Then protecting her innocence , her way .She answers him in the same tone as it is , "Aap hain kaun aur kab se humare peeche pade hain..."

Her covering her back with her hair...which makes him lowers his gazes right there...WOW.loved this part...He has fallen way down in respecting this Low Aukat here..Mr Possessive...because he never crosses any limit respecting her values...not even once ...He drapes her with her own hair when NK is ogling her back...He just can't see anyone looking at her and then he does the same after sangeet...He accepts her beauty "uske Baal" in front of Nani and Anjali...on Holi...and later on his Maafi night "Tum khule balon main bohat achi lagti ho..."He tells her by himself...
