@Indi
read your 332. I did feel for the man. He tried so hard but couldn't keep her sister's happiness. Though he was not responsible, but her older and mature enough sister was responsible. Her blind love actually killed her baby.
I wish if they wouldn't killed the child. Even the child could give a new dimension to the story line. But what to do, this is a common trend of our hindi soaps. The creative team loses their creative power after a while. so it was very much expected.
Barun was outstanding and even I felt sanaya was a bit flat. and especially her costume was irritating me. Maybe I'm not used to see Khsuhi with so much skin showing.😆

For a second I thought she needn't have coaxed him for mehendi or to dance, but then there was a wishful yearning in her voice that became softer as she pleaded, "bas ek choti si boond". I thought of all the times I have wanted the one I love to watch this show with me, to be a part of what I enjoy, to be a part of me. I saw myself in her. A girl in love wanting to share her world with the man she loves.
how sweet Reah. could you make your man do the same?

She wants that too and asks for it. An implicit right, that he has explicitly stated is hers to grab and exercise on him. "haq hai tumhara" he had claimed, then added, "mujhe pe". And he had a haq too on her.
what a connection. and he proved his words too.

The ceremonies, the dance, the mehendi all make her happy, but what she really wants is for him to share that joy with her. He has even succeeded in making her this comfortable around him that she slips into a gentle feminine coquetry, that intermingled a demand and a plea👏. Dance with me, it sings today. Put a dab of mehendi on yourself for me, it insists today.
beautifully said.

Though he dismisses the idea his face had grown thoughtful as he walked away. The very first watch I knew Khushi was about to have her desires fulfilled. The man had just admitted to dadi he was ready to move on with his life. Willing and wanting to give happiness a chance. With that declaration one just has to dance.

The girl who always loved to dance seemed a little lost. Her heart was not into it. Her heart was busy with the one that made it race and her eyes continued to search for him.
good observation. yes she was loking for him.
He watched, slightly far from the crowd. He has never been part of it. And even if he tried I think men like Arnav Singh Raizada are born to stand out from the rest. It is in his DNA to be distinctive. Actually, in this case I don't know where he got that DNA from, most probably his nani.
all the people has some distinctive quality. that was his individuality, what is his own and I think he didn't get it from anybody.

Devi maiyya was not to be idle today. The perfect lead to set past wrongs right, and have wishes come true tonight. He has always loved to watch her dance. Been mesmerized as she flowed gracefully or moved full of vibrant sanka. His eyes catch her dori, which has always been an integral part of this love story. Once ripped, forever bound.
well said. yes the dori connection is too significant.

He beckons her. A softening in the gaze is apparent. She will follow him today. Perhaps there is so much magic sprinkled in the air for the lovers tonight that they no longer need to be physically near the poolside. The halls are decked with fairy lights. Two gorgeous young lovers remain shrouded in its intimate light.

A slight curling of the lips, he moves to hold her. She is his. She hastens to point out her mehendi. His lips curl a little further. He likes her carefree, untroubled, joyful. And he also likes the feeling that the mehendi has his name. She has it on herself because she is to be his. In fact, for him, for all intents and purposes, she is already his wife.👏👏👏

So, with complete right his hand reaches out and curls around her waist drawing her into his arms. Her eyes widen. That was unexpected. She wriggles and asks him to let go, taking care her mehendi isn't smudged. With a self assured smirk he challenges her, "really?".

The first time I was so breathless with where his hand had landed and how it had wound around her and pulled her close that I had failed to comprehend what he was saying. Later I understood.

He knew she wasn't really objecting. He has actually always been very decent and in control around her. Even in that hut he had lowered his eyes till he could not take his gaze off her. Now with each ceremony his touches become more maddeningly intimate, his smile more playful, his gaze more ravenous. Its languid, and thrilling, and delightful all at the same time.
oh yeah, he controlled his desire too much. he couldn't do it any more. I loved the way you wrote the scene and their feelings. The scene was so beautiful. without a word they conveyed so much emotions.

She stops trying to free herself, and a giveaway smile appears on her lips. In the smile she acknowledges what he already knows. She knows she is safe in his arms. She likes it there.

His expression turns serious and slowly his hands lightly brushing against her he turns her around. Hi hand raises along her mehendi clad hand. She is panting, I hold my breath, what is he doing? Something I didn't expect.

He is tying that dori for her.

There are so many different levels that this story plays out. We don't need a blatant reminder how and where this particular memory played off. Its ingrained in the involuntary visceral tug inside us when we watch. 👏👏
Loved your thought and that's why IPK is still special.

The intensity in his gaze reminds me of the dark furious man as had ripped the same girl's pristine pearl dori. I remember him turn her delicately as his fingers skimmed over her back disentangling her from fairy lights, entangling himself more firmly, eternally, with her. The scene where he opens her hair to cover her exposed back from another man's gaze also plays before me. He wanted to protect her then too, but he did not have the right to tie that dori. Today he does. 👏👏
the haq is established by him.

Life rarely gives us chances to fix the wrong we make, but Arnav Singh Raizada has always realized, repented and done all he can to correct it. In front of such a man fate had to bend. If he hurt her then, he heals himself and her today.

He then moves to kiss her. She smiles, a beautiful shy smile, even happier than a second before when she realised what he was doing. And though she runs afar, she has to look back at him.

He stood with his head bent. A strange intensity in his gaze. The first time I wondered what it was about. Even today for an instant I forgot and eagerly anticipated. What could possibly have garnered such a feeling?

To this same music they had danced not to long ago. He declaring his love openly for all eyes to behold. For her to experience. Even that day as this melody dissolved into each particle in the intoxicated air, his hands had caressed her, his piercing gaze had implored. If that dance was a declaration today was the culmination. The love he showed was solidifying and cementing itself. A sense of hamesha had made a mark on his hand, in their hearts.

He eyes held an untold depth. For a minute I think he believed in the divine. His hand had a spot of mehendi. Perhaps there was trepidation in him of how strong this feeling was. Perhaps he never knew, never dared to think he could be this happy.

His face was the same one I had seen as he had let the payal dangle from his raised hand. Sometimes words aren't enough, it was in the look that said it all. On diwali he didn't know what it all meant, today its crystal clear. It is love. A beautiful glorious satisfying love.

No wonder it moves her to tears. She rushed to hug him. Again that smile in him. He has opened his heart to the feeling and let himself get engulfed in it. Even when she left he remained standing with a smile on his face.

Of many things I was happy. No body doubles so Sanaya and Barun could be comfortable in their body language. A familiar elevating melody in the background. And moments of a strong reminder of how blissful the show can make me feel.

I'm speechless dear. what a beautiful analysis. actually so sublime.
the episode was wonderful. your analysis is so thoughtful.
I loved so many lines what i marked blue and gave some comments too.

exxxactly, we are not used to khushi showing skin... it's just not her. we are viewers who are in sync with these characters and when something feels off to us it is in fact a little off.

i think these are desperate for trp days... which is why the remarriage and the super skin show is now on... even her roka dress was uncomfortable making... had she always been one to dress thus, would have been fine... natural.

and imagine her roaming around like this in a hospital. i noticed, they coyly brought forward her dupatta a little and hid her navel... made me want top scream, this is so not right...

and they have made her achchi bahu and preachy and tearful... where is khushi in all of that?

thanks for reading. 😃

episode 333

back in episode 254, nani had said chhotey can't bear it if someone he loves is hurting and he can't do anything about it. he starts hurting himself.

today, his beloved sister is in unimaginable pain... and he can do nothing about it.

in no time, he has taken the entire responsibility for this tragedy and said the words that honestly made me empathise with him so much, i could feel myself getting pretty emotional.

good acting, always beautiful.

"kya hua hai, koi humey bataaga kya baat hai..."
"what's the matter, will someone tell me what is the matter?"

honestly, i found the entire anjali in her cabin with weeping family members all around extremely melodramatic and hindi soap. not my thing. and i am used to much better direction in ipk. this seems to be another let's get trp moment.

however that bit, where no one is being able to tell her exactly what's the matter and she is asking again and again... from personal experience, yeah, this can happen... and it is puzzling, crazy making, unreal.

and the moment when at last we say, tragedy did occur... in a way always unreal perhaps. because we rarely factor horror in, in a realistic way, into our lives. especially, the completely unexpected tragedies.

even then, it all felt like gross disrespect of audience. and achhi bahu stepping in... "di," tears streaming down cheeks, good girl look on, hand on di's cheek, "samajhne ki koshish kijiye?" try and understand...

huh?

what happened to anjali's mami and nani? suddenly we have khushi in mode saviour... a girl who has never even been to bed with a guy, has nooo idea of what it is to conceive, carry a child, nothing, thinks she should tell a mother who has lost her baby, try and understand..

hmm, severe loss of writing beans.

i will suttupiya kar leo.

"bakwas band kijiye, khushi ji" stop talking nonsense, admonishes anjali, my mind says, "exactly,", before i can stop it.

anjali looks at the door... her mainstay, her brother, the boy who showed himmat when the whole world crashed, stands there... she only trusts him. and a bhram, the biggest "galat faimi" of her life, her illusion... shyam ji. he who doesn't exist... at all.

and there in her brother's eyes, in his tears, is a truth she can't deny.

she has to take note... a feeling begins to come to life... a sheen of tears springs and covers the eyes...

a tear falls.

a hand approaches the place where only a woman knows what is treasured and lived with...

anjali hugs her baby who is no more.
her brother watches his di, aap meri duniya ho, aap sab kuch ho, lose her world.

life will not spare you... especially if it knows you are strong, you are one with courage, you will fight on.

at last anjali howls and cries for her child...

and why am i, despite my complete nahiin to the story and the melodrama, almost close to tears?

tragedy... i guess, because it does come in life; and in another's tragedy, even if in a story, one feels one's own. resonance, identification, stuff of which great stories are made.

he watched his hi sister's meltdown...

a hand moved toward the door... he gripped the handle, he wanted to go in... he remembered "nahin chahiye hume yeh bachcha," "di, main hamesha hoon na..." "koi nahin hai!!"... I don't want the baby, I am always there, no one's there... all the hell his sister has been going through... really utter hell.

he retracted his hand... he couldn't go in.

suddenly an insensitive hand threw in a spadeful of platitudes at this point. khushi lectured a man going to pieces. this too happens... has happened to me. but must you reduce your beautiful heroine to this? she of all people would feel his feelings, be in rhythm with him, she can talk to him through the stars, dammit.

where are the writers of this show? why is the new writer being allowed to do this? not a single thought for what has been created.

in advertising, when new creatives come to work on an established brand, oh the amount of work that goes into making sure, no false note creeps in and harms the image, the feel, of something.

asr khushi.

does the new writer even know what this means... to people around the world... people still celebrating their anniversary, their teri meri, their first kiss, their almost kiss two years after the show has ceased to be.

manorama with her "bahar nahin jaibe!" felt more real.

of course, instantly dadi starts about shyam... the writers have worked hard to devise this re-entry of shyams' so that is all that matters.

only asr remains real through all of this and to an extent... anjali... and that vital relationship. if she needs him, he needs her just as much... to live. a sensitive khushi had realized this a long time ago, watching a brother and sister reunite in a temple. when she couldn't tell asr about shyam straight after realizing the truth even though she so wanted to, it was because she instinctively knew how essential di was to this man whom she seemed to have feelings for though she never meant to.

"vada kiya tha maine di se ki hamesha unhen protect karoonga... kuchh nahin kar paya mein... bloody failure. i tried, khushi. bahut... bahut koshish ki maine... har baar nakaam raha main..."

"i'd promised di i'd always protect her... won't let anything happen... bloody failure... i tried, khushi... tried very hard... i was unsuccessful every time"

that "had baar" rang a sad knell... he feels khushi's tears every time and he fails with protecting his sis every time... so he feels.
khushi tries to say that is not the case and the straight shooter calmly states,

"no khushi, yahi sach hai..."
no, khushi, this is the truth.

asr never runs away from any truth. i have a lot of regard for this character. he is presented as blighted, dark... going toward light... a romantic hero, almost a type at one level. the story telling illuminates these features amply, but his dialogues and the acting gives us traits that go beyond... makes him far more complex and almost impossible to neatly label.

i see a full human being with a boldness, a sense of justice and a view of life that is beautiful. no fudging. see a thing for what it is. call it by its name. don't hide behind excuses... and yes, be a little hard on yourself. expect more of yourself. i feel this is what makes people reach up, nothing wrong with it if you don't become judgmental of yourself beyond reasonable limit.

"uss raat bhi main kuchh nahin kar paya tha jab mere aur di ke saath woh haadsa hua" that night too i couldn't do a thing...

a memory that is never far storms through him.

at last we see a bit more of that memory. a boy running up desperately to stop tragedy... alas, that's not to be. the story of the other woman tumbles out, the whole "woh aurat" story... would asr talk so much in this state, i wonder.

maybe.

what is certain is that the entire story has been sort of changed. the new scenes are shot with a different boy.

i know i keep saying they changed the story... we keep thinking there was a clear story all through. but that is possibly not right. i have learned over these years, in the soap world there is hardly ever a concrete tale. everything changes according to trp. sometimes they can pull it off, sometimes not. a premise is perhaps the only thing that producers stay true to... sometimes not even that. here they were willing to kill asr and let khushi fall for someone else.

given this brutal "market" attitude, it's a miracle anything survived and i am still here.

"chhota tha par maine himmat ki..."

i was young but i showed courage.. another thing in this young man i admire.

"socha di ko meri zaroorat hai... aur di ko kaha ki, di sab theek ho jaayga... main sab kuch theek kar doonga... hum phir khush honge.. but here i am... i failed dammit... phir se wohi sab ho raha hai, khushi... main kuch nahin kar paya, khushi.."

heartbreaking really... he had thought di needed him... told his di, all will be well.. he would make it all okay... they'd be happy... but here he is...

a failure dammit.

it's all happening again...

this was suddenly insightful writing. the sense of tragedy was seeded too young in asr, now it is perhaps part of him... some part of him perhaps dreads a return and now he feels it's all happening again. in a way it is. his bro in law is a cheat like his dad... and as a result... there has been a death already.

i can almost feel his terror rising.

"jab di thodi khush ho jati hai mujhe lagta hai sab theek ho gaya... i don't know why everything just goes away..."

perhaps this episode's most touching and telling words... when di was a little happy he would think all was well.

i could suddenly feel his whole world rock and shatter at age fourteen and ever since a human being trying hard to find stability, feel all is well. there is a memory of chaos locked in him, almost permanently... felt real, believable.
easy to judge him because he stands up and defies fate, but when i feel that shaken turbulent stricken young boy i just so admire the route he took to make things work again... and i felt his tenderness, his need to feel yes, he is fine, to be cuddled and soothed and protected... he too had that need. I wished khushi being sensitive would feel that and just give him that, nothing else.

Episode 329 - 330

Since I was bored of my unending rantings about the various inconsequential dragged minutes that seem to abound in an IPK episode these days, am borrowing from a review, a numbers game.
Star Plus 330 is titled as "Shyam wears a disguise". Not important. Just saying. (no points.. yet..)

I was very confused about all these things that Shyam tried. Wiring, camera, glass shards. (-30 for being clueless about what really was planned and not making any sense whatsoever).

It is as if each marriage Shyam has to spend planning to kill. Remember the last wedding? During havan when ASR was immersed in throes of faraq parta hai and Khushi was happily running around with beautiful bangles and a bandaged wrist, Shyam was trying to burn his wife. While the families teased and danced their way through sangeet Shyam ran after an elusive scorpion. (+50 because of the lovely time we had during Payash's wedding, inspite of Shyam and his madcap schemes. I might have even called that Shyam for tea and managed to not poison him. Or poisoning him would be a good idea then he wouldn't have grown so unbrearable just 150 episodes later).
😆 you wanna have a tea with Shyam. take him to the road side tea stall. you know that is favorite place, he once took rich Raizada's not so rich biwi to that type of road side tea stall. Feed him some poisonless biscoot.
Poor man wasted his valuable life by plotting and scheming. If he would've used his brain a little in his law career, he wouldn't have to do such plotting to become rich.
But good observation.

Sadly this time the consequence of his actions are more more catastrophic. (-50 because I know what a heinous crime all this is leading to)

Achche karaman ka phal jarur milehe.. I liked buajis dialogue. Sometimes you need an unknowing push to do the right thing. Buaji's reminder to Garima about how she has always been a good person, helped Garima get courage to finally face dadi. (+30 not because I particularly want her to face dadi. I don't care by this point anymore, but more because am extremely bored of her terrified expressions and tear filled wide eyes. Also I do not understand why no one notices any of the above).
Garima's lukachupi game was getting into my nerve. How can I person think to evade from such a big truth! you are absolutely right that strangely nobody noticed her weird act.

ASR is about to make his way upstairs when that familiar calling of the wind halts him. She is here. She turns around the corner looking for him. He waits. bas pata chal jata hai.. NK tum nai samjhoge.. (+20 for the reminder of the mehsoos. The directors are hell bent on reminding us that they have already shown us everything significant that could happen in this love story in the first 200 episodes. Everything happening now is simply a not as impactful repetition.)

He has to tease her. Naughty Raizada in a mood to get his would-be/already wife red in the nose.. (+ 40..wait -10 for too much smiles.. )

Ignoring his cousins he focuses on outrageously flirting with the girl... tum pehle aap pehle aap ke bina hi rakh dogi.. (+ 20 aah he was actually paying attention that phone call when he was trying to convince Khushi he had not one romantic fiber in his laad governor tycoon heart..)

A mischievous smirk by the girl who always jumps to a challenge.. Hands over phone to buaji.. ( + 20 for a spunky Khushi.. -30 because she didn't get adorably flustered when the man was at his teasing witty best.. )

I enjoyed the three cousins together in one frame thoroughly. Guffawed right through it. Specially when Akash wanted to intervene and ASR smoothly stepped in. Then he continued to pretend to read the paper. His ears however were focused on NK and his lips were trying hard to suppress the smile. (+150 you three guys in the same frame without any weepy women are a blast to watch)
three brother's bromanc was really fun to watch. epically my man in flirtatious mood always makes me ecstatic.

(+60) Akash won these solely for giving the exact befuddled transformed to understanding expression as he watched NK. (+30 for NK)..vartalaap had a perfect sing song tone.. (-10) They should have brought a nice girl or for NK to talk to. Imagine if Khushi was actually trying to do match making for Nanheji.
they should bring a nice girl for NK. So many people wanted Lavanya's come back for NK. But I somehow feel that NK and Lavnaya shouldn't be paired up, as she was his brother's ex.
You are right, Khushi actually could find another bubbly gori chitti like her for NK.

(+25) the ladies looked colorful.. (-5) didn't like Khushi's look tonight.. The slightly heavy make up makes her look older and not the young disarmingly charming girl am used too.

Mean guests were present as always ready to talk in loud audible whispers about the missing damaadji (-40 Why are they even invited each time? )😆
I don't know why rich and classy Raizada's guests are so uncouth and mean!

Wo aadmi is ghar mein nahi aayega. ASR steps in and makes it clear his word is not to be trifled with. (Face off + 100.. You go Arnav.. The good grandmother is the one who calls you chote, please go ahead and remind the other one who calls you Arnav she, has no clue what she is talking about when she insists bringing Shyam back will bring happiness.)

di ki dawai has to make an appearance (-80 I can't take it anymore).. but it is always refreshing to hear the man address Payal without any inkling of ji. And even in these barely there exchanges there is something in the slight change of tone, a little mix of formal and familiar air that Barun adds whenever he talks to Payal. (+ 20 because asr is asr even when he is made to talk about dawai.)
You also noticed this? I always liked his interaction with Payal. She is his wife's elder sister, but younger brother's wife as well. So he always talked to her with due respect.

A profoundly touching scene follows. A grandmother desperately attempts to calm the hot headed people in the room. Another grandmother blindly refuses to understand the truth and choses to ignore the apparent Dadi and Anjali had a lot in common it seems. A certain regressive dependence on needing a man to make everything right.
very well observed. Anjali actually was obstinate like dadi. But the difference was their way of approach.

And finally the man who with the utmost sincerity wants to move on with his life warns dadi in a strictly firm respectable unwavering tone. He wants to ensure his di's happiness, not based out of a lie, but the truth.
It felt so good that ASR actually wanted to forget his bitter past. I must say it was Khushi's achievement who changed his concept.

ASR tried so hard to do the right thing and it broke my heart to see the battle. For a fourteen year old to process what happened on the night his parents committed suicide, only closest relative's wedding broke, followed by being thrown onto the streets and forced to fend for themselves, would be an almost impossible feat. ASR managed to not just deal with it, he managed to understand who was in the wrong.

Betrayal.. dusri aurat has a very powerful suffocating impact on ASR.. "14 saal pehle jo hua". He had to watch his ma die because of it. And Shyam is a reminder of this exact same sinful crime and how much it destroys. Not just di, ASR trusted him too. There was a lot of respect in this young man for his jeejaji. "he cheated on us".. The dialogues spoke of how Shyam had broken not just di's, but all their trust.
yes we indeed saw how much ASR used to respect Shyam and always pondered his words. He brought Lavanya in RM as per Shyam's advice.

We should forget our past and move forward. Main mama banane wala hun. Di ma. Aur meri shadi bhi hone wali hai. .He watches di happy and you can see from the torn look on his face, how much he wishes to be able to let go of all the bitterness of the past.

When we first met him he was a man fortifying himself and his family against the cruelties of the past. Today the man is essentially the same, only now he isn't just protecting from the past, he is also trying to embrace the possibilities of the future.
that what I said above, that his perception of life had been changed.
Nani was quick to show her confidence in his judgement and how proud she was of him. (+ 120 The integrity in this man never fails to elicit a raw response out of me. Am as proud of him as his nani is)

Garima running around with payal.. With mami.. alone.. running to ..running from dadi.. (-130 .. Why do you insist on doing this to your viewers? )😆😆😆
this is a very common trend of hindi soaps.

Shaym as electrican.. As dhol wale bhaiya.. (+ 20.. Sorry but the moustache does good things to his face).. Shyam as killer (-20.. Who cares what your stupid complicated plan is.. I would ahve deducted more points but for now I still am not supposed to know it actually succeeds. he has had a pretty bad track record in his plans thus far.) 😆

The big question of what letters adorns the beautiful hand is getting decided.. "LG"... He casually saunters up and is ready for another round of loving banter with that wife to be of his.. Poor mehendi wali must be completely distracted. (+15 LG is flirting again)
Don't you just love this flirtatious man!

"nai aap A likhiye".. Prim and proper Khushi informs the mehendi wali.. So even in jest she won't take him on his offer and call him laad governor for now.. (-20 Khushi don't be boring)

"oh I forgot tumhare naam mein bhi A hai". Still ignoring the mehendi wali, his eyes are on his bride as he recalls a time she was particularly the perfect mate.. enchanting alluring intelligent. (+20 aa.. He remembers everything.. What the.. had he dared to claim faraq nahi parta hai for this same girl?)
mehendiwali didn't exist fro him. He is ASR. he can do anything in front of anybody. I some how love hi damn care attitude.

Let me remind you of the heavenly details.. Man in crisp white starched shirt, sleeves rolled, forearms exposed, a stubble, and a hair cut, smirk firmly in place, eyebrows expertly raised, arms folded, head tilted.. in that lazy wicked amused drawl.. "aah".. a nod.. When beautiful flustered girl caught with a letter from his name on her hand had come up with an ingenious excuse .. Then in a burst of delightful sanka daringly backed it up.. She has A in her name too.. suna aapne? (+174 was this just before the kiss? .. Maybe this memory deserves even more points then..)
Bas karo, I am getting intoxicated.

Ya ya I know you have done this before.. (- 35.. Enough of reminding us this has happened before .. at this rate we might as well be watching momento and suffering for partial memory loss that needs rekindling..)

awesome take.
My man was the central attraction of this episode. Actually IPK always did justice to ASR's character and sometimes royally ignored Khushi.
I didn't like Khushi's costume. it was too revealing for a conservative girl like her. the girl who feels uncomfortable without a dupatta, was roaming around in a barely there blouse was disturbing.
all the lines I marked blue are my favorite.
I did so much bakbak also.
