indi,
haven't read 296 yet but that vm. intense it is..
ironic, I was just mentioning about that middle of the road break down above.. and the vm centered around it.. feels like I never really moved on from that imploding heart break.. the last cohesively brought on sequence in my fav love story..
loved how you connected both the drives.. from terrace to aur mein... bezubaan indeed paradoxic to his caustic tongue.. he can not really take Shyam and khushi's name in one breath..

In di😃 the essence of 296 in the vm I think. Fantastic mixing of scenes, past and present to convey how ever since he had cried out in shock and pain for his maa at the age of 14 he had turned bezubaan, suffering silently, fighting a lone nightmarish battle with his inner demons, forgetting the existence of the little joys of living. Yet there was never a day where he hadnt stood besides his family and catered to their every need and whim. He had denied himself his love for Khushi and resisted her to the last of his bezubaan existence but had given in to his feelings at last. He had begun thinking about himself, what he really wanted from life. And he was denied again, this time by Khushi. His shock, his anguish, his pain, the exhaustion were all there in aur main. I have not heard this song before but it was so apt for the vm aur main 👏

OH Indi how I missed reading your takes. Yes this one was a special one. The true revelation of his love for her and how desperate he was to keep her with him even if it meant telling her a lie, using the contract as an excuse for her to stay. What else does she want from him? He apologized in his own ASR-like way. "I didn't mean.." Yes she was hurt and deeply, she already felt guilty for what had happened. She already knew it was her "fault" that Shyam was attracted to her. She had to leave for Di. The one ASR loved most. She was doing this as an act of extreme love for him., the ultimate act of love, sacraficing what they have or could have for Di's happiness therefore his happiness. Removing herself from the situation because of her fault in the matter. I was so touched by his portrayal and I always love whhen his inner ASR comes out. He covers up his true feelings, he has to, way too vulnerable they leave him. So go, ASR, go use anything you have in your power to make her stay.
Now as for Khushi, yes the ultimate sacrafice and yes marriage for her was for life and seven other lifetimes as well but wouldn't you sacrafice for your love? The ultimate martyr. Yes she was deeply hurt by what he said but did he not say it out of concern for his Di? Arnav had just learned to love someone outside of Di so he wasn't familiar for making HER the priority instead of Di. He realized his wrong. Khushi again knew she had to leave and when he brought up the contract it shocked her for she truly believed that there was love beyond the contract, she wasn't aware of his desperate state. He wants her hamesha.

Loved your take and your VM, my G-d it amazes me that everytime I watch that car scene over and over and over again his acting ability flaws me. I think we need a thread just for that scene!

I will be back to read everyone else but my back wants me to lie down for a few!

hi cynthia,

you read with that pain in your back: awww...

thanks for having fun and liking the vm. the man is a deadly when he does that throbbing intense hurt by the circumstances of his life bit and yes, the 15 february drive deserves some long and crazy chats and perhaps a few more vms 😆.

about the sacrifice thing. well, the only way i could justify her stance was the terrible tearing pain and sense of exhaustion at the the deplorable accusations made by the one she loves so much. because if khushi had to think sanely even for a second, she would remember her own views on marriage. no, you don't walk out on it the moment the man you are committed to you is nasty. she would have known this is not sacrifice, this is her hurt, even her childish response.

but here was this "martyr" making that finally changed khushi into an unrecognisable girl. all it needed to my mind was one thought from her about this night, in a more loving vein. even when she thought arav was his son, she packed her bags... i wonder did all this make khushi seem nice or flaky...

hi kizh, thanks sir... ha, special indi touch, me like that... thank you very very much.

and yes, the man with eyes most gorgeous. how much he says with them. and how pure that brown is. i had to again die many times while making the vm... it's hard to say, cut, to edit out.

thanks, indu.

that breakdown... unforgettable, always stirring and there's so much of a character there.

every time i watch him crying sitting on the road, something collapses in me.

he so got an emotion. you are right... right up to the forced wedding there was a single clear story thread. actually, instead of marriage if he had forced her to live with him also it would have worked. somehow after mooh dikhai... the flow went... it all became bits of this and bits of that... not quite forming an intricate mosaic.

he had just felt his dhadkane and said "khushi", he had only for a day dreamed of many things... and perhaps of "main". then he had opened a terrace door... and for the second time in his life, calamity. poor man, a man who really was all about his intense utter emotions. everything centred there and how hard he tried not to let that be destroyed again.

thanks and thrilled you felt all that in pink. yes, the essence and yes, love the word "caustic"... the tongue said things but not really what the bezubaan never could. hit me hard with that simmering layer beneath this character... only one actor have i seen who could do this exquisite crafting. that too for daily tv. wow, i feel fortunate.

yes, an exhaustion... and yet he stepped forward and acted to take his life where he wanted it to go... never walked away. never accepted whatever came his way... this character makes me ponder free will. and the purpose of it... ha ha really.

Indi - beautiful take on 295/296.
The episode was sad for me. Everyone was sad and every one did what they did was correct from their perspective. But to me the biggest loser here was the relation.

Be it a relation between hubby/wife or brother/sister. All though love was high, trust disappeared from the equation and so it resulted in all the chaos. I have always believed that love can only take you upto certain limits and once you hit the turbulence only trust can take the boat out of that turbulence.

Here sister lost trust on her family thinking no one was on her side and in that she was going to commit a crime - A crime of murdering the unborn child.( I am sure that at this point its 8 month pregnancy - Their wedding was in 5th month and confirmation of pregnancy only occurs after 2 months. So this is not called abortion, its called hatya). She had lost her senses and was in the state of shock else she would never ever think about doing this act. I would say it was the act done due to depression that she may have gone through after all what happened to her. Its possible with preggy women to undergo such state after such a trauma in life.

Mamiji never trusted Gupta sisters and hence always tried to find defects in them. In her blind love for her niece and nephew she blurted out truth at wrong time.

Arnav - Looking at his di's state his existence was questioned. His di questioned his relation and equation. Listening to which and seeing her state was in trauma of his life. I would say it was more for him to bear then his own issue during the kidnapping track.
In this state when mami came and blurted out truth - his mental anguish coupled with his anger spoke everything that he was not supposed to speak. He was not in the state of thinking. His anguish and anger took over his trust, which he had show a few days back while throwing Shyam out of house saying I trust Khushi. Today his words and action were not matching. His action gave a clear a loud sign saying that he does not trust Khushi. He was so unreasonable due to stress.

Despite his words of vulnerability - Aur Mein and ab jab mein did not have impact as his action was different.

Khushi - I think she was on the receiving end today. She had to bear all the pain, anguish and suffering of her husband. Arnav just passed on his stress on this poor soul. She was feeling guilty anyways and his words just made her depressed. His words broke her trust on him. And when he tried to stop her using sham dam dand bhed, he succeeded per say but in reality that took him far away from her heart.

Khushi decided to quit as she could not bear it. Her wedding which was on the grounds of condition not love, betrayal not trust. Wedding that had just trust and no love lasted so long, but today that trust was lost. So Khushi had no reason to stay behind. Her whole existence was on this one man as she loved him but today he broke her into pieces while breaking himself more in to million pieces. Even her decision was under duress.

ARSHI - Both hurt yet thinking about others sign of love.
-Both not thinking rationally - sign of stress
-Both not budging - Sign of ego
-- Both very sad after the whole sequence - Sign of LOVE

So although love was in air, within them, lack of trust, stress and ego played a big role in this episode.

SIDE NOTE: This was such a realistic episode. The fight between hubby/wife was so real. And hats off to everyone connected to this- Barun Sobti and Sanaya Irani as an actor took this to a different level. Their body language, their dialogue, voice modulation. pain in eyes, everything was so real. 👏 👏 👏 The actors spoke with their eyes, The Dammit at the end, mein tumhe hamesha ke liye apna bana loonga - the promise. everything was just ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

yes, bhavii... 295, 296 were in the end about the frailty of human beings. the thing in us that makes us err... and makes us mere mortals.

for me what elevated it always was the intensity of love, whether rightly expressed or not. and the performances.

truly, everything felt real. while i did not like what he said, i also felt khushi's action of packing a bag to leave was precipitate. especially since she had come to believe this was a marriage... and not a contract of six months. but in the circumstances i sort of realised this was one of those moments in life where everyone errs... everyone hurts... and yes, they love.

i can't figure out the thought process of the writer at all when it comes to anjali. and that abortion attempt... unconscionable. unreal.

for me though, both main tumahare bina and aur main were heartbreak points of lasting beauty.

and so was her getting up swiftly to try and stop him, not let him say all he wants to because maybe she does not want to weaken... there was arresting body language in both.

one thing i so so so wish they had explored... the reason for it, the dynamics of it... his anger. always simmering not too far from the surface. often making him sound cruel and heartless, even when you know he is not that. there was a story in that gussa... wish they delved into it. nani had way back said it was like his father's anger... i would love to hear that story.

khushi could usually handle the rage, that also had a grace in it and insight.

Bhavii, fantastic look at that fight. Really enjoyed reading it. I agree with you, could see why khushi did what she did. Yes, she believed in the sanctity of marriage, but did his words just bring it to her, that what she thinks is really like a mirage, that after all its a contract entered into under extenuating conditions. That maybe he still sees her as the problem that came into his sisters life. I felt it was a giving up, no fight left in her, like you rightly pointed out, she was feeling guilty as it is.

Indi di, there's so many things they could've explored just with these two characters. Similar in so many ways, but their approach to life different. Khushi with that capacity to love big, but what was it really a defence mechanism, throw all that love, hoping you would get some crumbs back? A scene which has stayed in my mind, is one on the day of the office store room fight. She comes back home and there's a shot of her sitting on the bed with the DM murti in hand, long legs dangling. It felt almost like you were looking at a poor lost child, not a young woman. You know I've a soft spot for that girl!

yes, i often thought of that utter love, that eagreness to please her loved ones. and also the constant happiness... the eating. she and he had had similar devastating separation at an early age. both were strong, committed, loving, headstrong. and broken.

he tackled things his way, she hers. in her way, while there was faith, was there also a running away from terrible pain? and yes, a little lost girl she was... fey, vulnerable, lovely. he loved that in her too, never ever wanted "reality" to smite her, for he knew reality often could.

there was such a beautiful need in each for the other. she brought him lightness, joy, warmth, fun, desire to live again. he brought her the love of a man, his sensual desire, his absolute commitment even when he raved and hurt her and said the cruelest things, he brought her the right to own someone without question or compromise... and it was with him that she felt the woman in her wake up, respond, want. that diwali sequence... immeasurably beautiful, had khushi ever felt such a feeling within her? he was the only one she could hurt without worrying i felt sometimes... because just as despite all the pain he gave her, she could never stop loving him, she knew too in some recess of hers, he couldn't, wouldn't stop caring.

lots of things to look at... there was really no need for cupboards and dadi and remarriage and son and something called mrs india.

there was that contract story... never gotten into and resolved despite some truly fine moments of ipk coming from it.

there was shyam, payal and akash, a honeymoon maybe...
