Woah! That's huge!
Reading~ Reserved!
Me backy after somewhat a good read!
I was at a loss after reading the first paragraph, like, what had happened? Did I miss something? And, everything went clear as I continued reading.
Correct me if I'm wrong, Khushi ran away from her wedding and along with Arnav acted as though they were married in front of her parents to eschew Aman and all? Right?
I don't why but, I am confused. Really, I really am confused.
Anyway, Khushi is really mad and nutty! Teaching Arnav Singh Raizada romance, is she?😆
I laughed out when I read the convo between Arhi and the stewardess!🤣 Two inch nearer to his files and anger!🤣
The thing that caught my attention was that Arnav previously cried on Khushi's shoulders. Why was that so? I hope the answers will be prompt!
Part B was mostly focused on Payal and NK and I loved it! These two are worst than Tom and Jerry! Payal certainly has a mastermind; Woah; I'm impressed. NK is just simply NK!😆 Hay re! Why did he have to open his mouth? Payall will definitely reward him! :P
It was nice, overall and really long. But, one dukh, where is Arnav?

Chapter 2: Getting The Strands Of Sugar

Before you begin reading, I would like to thank you all, once again for reading the previous part and liking the NK-Payal fights, a little more than the Arnav-Khushi encounter in the plane!😆
Yes, the italic part is a sort of flashback.
A few questions to you all, before you start:

  1. Which part of the Chapter One did you like most (A or B) and which scene was the nicest one?
  2. On what do you think, I should improve on?

It was like a bomb that had blasted in Nagasaki. Khushi's eyes flickered open at the mention of those words, while Payal tapped her forehead in fury, and glared at NK. That was probably the fiftieth glower in that evening, if my mathematics can be commended.

"He can never do anything the way it should be done," Payal murmured, her glare ossified on NK's face, but returned to her normal self at the shriek of her mother. "What?" Garima screeched, and Khushi forcibly closed the socket of her eyes by pressing her eyelids together. NK had certainly landed her in a mess, but lying unconscious was better than the wrath of her mother.

"Payal? What is this? What is he telling?" her mother fired a bullet of questions towards her, and for the first time in her life, Payal Raizada wanted to run away. She wanted to flee from there! The door was slightly open, but not bolted, and the path was clear for her to escape the situation but, she would never take the coward's way out. NK was to be doomed, for sure, but her sister deserved much more, than cowardice from her part. She sighed, inhaled a lungful of air, and, opened her mouth to bring out an excuse when NK added, "Aunty, why are you asking her? How would she know? Moreover, I'm the doctor here. Direct all the questions to me."

"What the hell is this guy doing?" Payal thought, still glaring at him, but he simply shrugged and ignored her.

"Aunty, my sweet aunty, let me explain. I was mutual friend of Khushi and Arnav during their college days, and, I know them well. Additionally, Khushi and I communicate regularly on Skype and, I know her and her secrets, if I can say it so, very well. I can assure you, the child is Arnav's. He himself knows this fact-" NK rattled it all away and was halted midway by a tug on his arm. He looked at Payal, who signaled him to stop. Smirking, he raised the collar around his neck, "Payal will be proud of me. She will thank me after this!" his inner thoughts consumed him in great happiness.

The damage was done, and nothing could be added to rectify it all. Payal groaned in defeat and hoped for the best for her little sister. She retired from the room, flabbergasted at the person in front of her. "Arnav?" Her eyes were as wide as saucers and she could only stutter, "Where's Akash?"

"Hey bhabhi!" she bent sideways, reciprocating Arnav's hug, and thanking God that he didn't hear anything. "Unfortunately, no one has been able to make it to Khushi's marriage. Once we get home, I'll explain everything to you Bhabhi. Akash is out for some meeting, so he'll not turn up. Sorry Bhabhi!"

Arnav peeked into the room, grinning at the fact that patches of yellow were still around the room.
Yellow. Khushi's favorite color. He could vividly recollect that once, that crazy girl had come across some article in the paper, and had painted her entire room yellow since it was indicated that the lucky color for Aries was yellow. Needless to recall the aftermath of that incident- the numerous bellows and the way she had been reprimanded and punished was worth it.

"To knock or not to knock?" he wondered, but smirked at the thought of it- he was herbest friend and permission was not required, he could barge in the room anytime of the day or night!

Before Payal could do anything, the second damage had been inflicted. Her mother had not yet expressed her anger, and at that time, the potential Father of Khushi's so called child had erupted in the room. He would now witness her mother's angst, which was certain.

"Maasi, how are you?" a surprised Arnav asked, on his entry in the room. Worry overpowered him as he beheld an unconscious Khushi and a crying mother. Was something wrong with her? Panic had overcrowded his mind and he couldn't think straight. He tried joining the pieces, while Payal tried shoving her mother out, which was unsuccessful. Garima did not budge an inch from her place. She sat there, ogling at Arnav.

A weeping mother + an unconscious daughter = something fishy with daughter
Arnav mentally joined a dot to another, while figuring out what was happening, but, it was fruitless as ever.

"Don't you have any shame left?" Garima suddenly spat out.

"Excuse me?" Arnav had a confused look on his face while Payal felt like smashing NK's face. "What shame should I have aunty?"

Garima looked away in disgust and Arnav felt his anger mounting in him.

To avoid any further discussions, Khushi opened her eyes and mumbled something, attracting all the eyes to her. All the Indian movies that she had watched had finally bore fruit. Just before coming round, the heroine would dramatically grumble away a few words and would look at everyone questioningly, which was exactly what she did.

"What is this Khushi?" She looked up to her mother, who was in tears by now. "Sorry mom," she thought. That guilty feeling was bolted from the blue and seized her. She could divulge everything that it was all a plan to call off the wedding, truthfully or she could agree to what NK had said. Her mind fought for dominance and counseled her to relieve her mother, the one who had gone through such a pain to bring her in the world, had shielded her from all the vices and ills, the one who had loved her so much, while her heart silently wept, she could be linked to Arnav, and if Durga Maa approved of it, they could be tied in a relationship. She wanted to get away from the dilemma churning inside her, and unknowingly articulated, "Yes mom, Arnav is the father."

She closed her eyes, bolting her mouth with her palms and regretting instantly what she had said. How could she become so selfish? If only, she could take her words back, if only they could vibrate with the layers of air and revert back to her mouth, but, what was once said, was said. The third time, that day, the damage was irreversible.

Arnav looked at Khushi, appalled. "What father?" he whispered, a tinge of shock in his voice. She, in return, clasped her hand in his, and conveyed an emotion of distress and help to him. "Her eyes are brown," Arnav noted, "and they are glistening, with... hope maybe?" He saw her eyes clouded up with tears, the sides crinkling, and, before she uttered anything else, he said, "Yes Massi, Khushi is right." He didn't know what the matter was, he didn't know what was he digging his hole into, he only knew that there was that girl in front of him, whom he loved deep down his heart, which he never admitted, and that thing shining in her eyes, made him add a nod into her nod.

"Amma, let's leave and, give them time to solve their mess," Payal took her mother away, who was numb, and motionless. "What had I planned and what happened?" Payal thought, fury brewing in her, "That NK, I'll not spare him. Useless fellow!"

"What was that? What Father?" Arnav jumped on the bed as the door closed.

"You are the father, of my child," Khushi said nonchalantly, grinning dreamily.

"What?" He immediately got up and sprang to the floor, "You are pregnant? Who's the father?"

"You!"

"Stop that, Khushi. Who is it? With whom? I mean, you are pregnant?" he ruffled his air in frustration.

"You, Arnav!"

"Impossible Khushi. Come on; spill the beans, so that I can drag you out of this delicate situation too."

"I am telling the truth Arnav, you are the father," Khushi tried her best to retain her giggle looking at Arnav's discomfited face, "You remember you came here last month, for Salman Khan's birthday? That night you were high, and it happened."

"Shit Khushi! I'm really sorry. I shouldn't have drunk so much that night... You are okay? Aman? What? Shit! Darn it! I'll speak to him... Don't worry... Khushi? I am sorry... I really am... I... I... Shit Khushi! Shit! You"" he stopped when he heard Khushi chuckling and soon she was on the bed, rolling to and fro, in splits of laughter.

"You trust me that much Arnav?" she smiled, "You are not the father and, I am not pregnant."

"What?" He wore a harried expression.

"Look, I'm not happy with the marriage and do not want to go ahead with it. Hence didu sifted for a way for me to fish myself out of this marriage. She came up with the idea of me, being pregnant!"

"With my child? Is that some joke Khushi?" He rebuked her in a rough tone.

"No," she sniggered, "NK told that! To dodge him and his questions, Didu told him that we are in love with each other and, hence to help us, he acted as the doctor. But, at the last minute his turned the tables by telling that you were the father, for which the news of his murder will be flashing on National TV soon."

"But... Wait! You mailed me various times and in each of your mail, you never failed to mention that you loved Aman; then, what's this mess now?"

"I realized something yesterday, that I don't love Aman; it was just a compromise from my sake, at least, for my parents."

"Really?"Arnav looked at a fidgeting Khushi, and smirked, "Oh! What made you realize that on the eve of your marriage?"

"Actually yesterday night after the rituals, Payal didu, Aman, his brother, Preeto, Clementine, Karol and all my friends brought ourselves to some sort of enjoyment. We played 21 questions and spinning the bottle. At the end of a round, the bottle spun and pointed towards Aman. Since it was an arranged marriage, didu challenged Aman to propose me for marriage, the way it should have been done. Okay, so tell me, if you were Aman how would you have proposed to me?"

"What?"

"Propose and, we'll compare to what Aman did, Arnav!"

"You're crazy Khushi and that's weird. What if someone hears then? I'll be forced for a marriage with you as I was compulsorily made the father of your"I mean of our inexistent child. No way!"

Khushi grunted and sighed, "Fine. I'll do it."

She knelt down on one knee, the reddish brown ghagra that she was clad in, pooling around her feet, and said, "There is sunshine and rain in life but once the storm is over, we'll see a bright shiny day again. Just like an umbrella, I'm always by your side whether it rains or the sun shines." She looked up, aspiring to see, even a gist of love in his eyes, but he rolled his eyes. She sighed and thought, "I better be unmarried all throughout my life," before continuing, "One day when you think of the people, who love you, I'm certainly one of them. If one day you are no longer loved by anyone, it's because I'm no longer around."

She watched with a tinge of happiness, as his face froze when she said the last few words. "Khushi," he barely articulated, but, she stopped him, by resuming, "When I think of the future, I like to picture us as two trees planted side-by-side, our roots growing together more firmly as the years go by, and our children sprouting like seedlings around us. I can't imagine growing old with anyone else, nor do I want to. When I look into your eyes, I can see a reflection of the two of us and the life I hope we'll share together. I know my life will never be complete without you beside me to share it. When I look into my heart, I see only you. If you can look into your heart and only see me, then we should spend the rest of our lives together," she brought her words to a standstill, wiping away the fresh batch of tears, budding from her eyes, and said, swallowing down a lump, trying her best not to sob out, "Let's make a plan. Ten years from tonight, we'll tell our children the story of how I proposed to you and..."

Khushi sat down, taken aback by the rush of emotions flowing through her, and cried, taking her face in her palms. She didn't know why she cried- all that she knew was, she was proposing to the man she loved, who didn't even know he was being proposed. Sobs escaped her mouth as she cried out her entire soul.

I hadn't had to be so hard, had it?

Arnav turned away from her, not wanting to let his vulnerable part slip away. He was touched, deeply touched by her words, but the thought that those words were not meant for him brought him into tears. He had never been proposed in life and, here his best friend was giving a demo of a proposal, but, it sounded so true, didn't it?

Khushi dabbed away the tears in her handkerchief and, smiled, driving the gloomy feeling that was encompassing her away. She lightly tapped Arnav on his shoulder and, handed him the handkerchief.

"That... that wasn't needed," he said.

"It was. You are crying, I know; stop being stubborn, and, take it," Khushi giggled, easing the atmosphere before apologizing, "Sorry, I got carried away."

"It's okay. I understand."

Khushi discarded that event that had occurred a few minutes ago, and jigged, "So, where was I? Yes! A normal person would propose to his wife in such a way, but do you know how Aman proposed?"

She grabbed her veil from the bed and, carefully dropped it about her head, covering her face. "Khushiji, ji.. these people out here... you know it already Khushij, ji voh... they are asking if you would marry me? Ji.. you already know, I have a good job ji... Please marry me ji.." She dropped down on the bed and laughed her heart out, "Can you imagine? Such a proposal, ji?"

Arnav couldn't help, joining her in the laughter riot. "But in your mail, you said he was the dream husband?"

"Yes, to give a good impression! How do you think I'll marry him after last night, ji?" she giggled again, at the addition of the "ji".

Arnav laughed along too, but stopped midway, "So what now?"

"What? Now, I'm not going for this marriage! I'm running away in a few seconds," she told, "and you are coming with me!"

"Khushi, stop! What's this nonsense? If you had to run away, you could have clearly refused this alliance! What's the use of going on with it and backing out at the last moment? Sorry, this time, I am not with you! Let's get out, and, tell everyone, you are not pregnant, it was all a prank. At least this will reduce the disgrace your parents will have to go though. And, call Aman in, and, explain to him that you cannot marry him for whatever valid reason you have. Aman not knowing how to propose is not a reason. There's something other than this which you are not telling me. Fine, but tell Aman at least; he is your going-to-be husband. Whatever problems you have with him, sort them out. This time, no running away, face it Khushi. "

"No!" she bawled, "I can't," and, said softly, "I really can't."

"Why Khushi?"

"I can't tell you either, please, try and understand," she said facing him her back.

"No, what is it that you cannot tell me? Me Khushi? We've been together since childhood, and, you've told me everything, since then! Why not this? What is it Khushi? You are making me scared, now."

"Fine," she got to the computer and switched it on. After three minutes, which were nerve-wracking for both souls in the room, she opened a Chrome window and logged in to Gmail. Furiously typing away her password, she opened a mail, and, dragged Arnav to the computer, "This, read it."

*

"Ladies and gentlemen, as we start our descent, please make sure your seat backs and tray tables are in their full upright position. Make sure your seat belt is securely fastened and all carry-on luggages are stowed underneath the seat in front of you or in the overhead bins. Please turn off all electronic devices until we are safely parked at the gate. Thank you."

"Khushi," Arnav slightly pulsed his fingers on her forehead, trying to wake her up, but no avail. "This woman really sleeps like a log!"

He bent down, took the seatbelt, pulled it all around her waist, and finally clutched it in its socket. He could not believe he had agreed to all her crazy full-fledged plans, which had many loopholes and, ran away with her.

Just as he was about to fit himself in his seat, he noticed a strand of hair on her face, falling onto her closed eyes. She had a frown on her forehead and, that annoyed him. His fingers tickled her check as he endeavored to brush that lock of hair away. She was so pretty, indeed. Captivated by her beauty, he forgot about the tress of hair, and lingered his fingers lazily all around her cheeks, which turned pinkish as a reflex action. Her nose was perfectly crafted, and her eyes, those drowning orbs, were dangerously created, to sink people in their web. He was mesmerized by the exquisite lady in front of her.

His fingers travelled to her lips, where it loitered about for a few seconds, before Khushi yawned and opened her eyes in shock. "What are you doing?" she shrieked, once again magnetizing all the eyes on her. "Shh," he shushed her down, "There was something on your face," he looked away, not wanting to further continue this conversation.

"I know you were deeply affected by my talks about romance, but, I never thought you would romance so stealthily. You wanted to kiss me, you could have nudged me. I would have agreed, why do you need to hide and all?" Khushi brought her lips closer to his and giggled.

"Flight attendants, prepare for landing please. Cabin crew, please take your seats for landing."

Khushi panicked, searching for the seatbelt, but relaxed as she saw it resting on her waist, bolted to its opening, and, smiled. Arnav! "Thank you," she whispered.

He looked away once again, his heart speeding up as they neared land. They would have to go at home, now.

*

"I wonder what will their reaction at home be," Arnav said, frustratingly.

"Vaah! The great Arnav Singh Raizada has initiated a conversation the first time, since the past eleven hours. I am blessed," Khushi joked only to be reprimanded by Arnav.

"Is this a joke Khushi? There, your parents think that I am married to you and you are pregnant with my child. Here, they are going to kill me when they'll come to know about all this confusion."

"We are not really married; it's just a farce, Arnav and, I am not pregnant. Plus, how would they know about all this?"

"What if your parents call and inform them?"

"They won't, Arnav. Stop, panicking like a child; chill out. We're going to tell them that I've come here, for holidays, as I do every year."

"Who is this mad girl who will leave her marriage for a holiday? We're in a deep mess Khushi. Let's return back to Manchester, please!" Arnav almost pleaded her.

"I'm going to tell them that the marriage was called off at the eleventh hour and, I've come here to loosen up and unwind myself. Fine?" Khushi laughed. Arnav Singh Raizada was panicked and he was pleading- that was great!

*

"Welcome, Arnav and Bhabhi," Anjali giggled as she opened the door, and Khushi almost slipped at the doorstep. See, they know, Arnav eyed Khushi who fiddled with her dress.

"Don't let them enter, Anjali," their grandmother commanded from behind, leaving Arnav and Khushi, shocked. "They are throwing us out of the house," Arnav whispered in horror while Khushi was horrified. It was not happening according to their plan. Let it be- she and Arnav would shift to an apartment and would live there, see, no worries. Khushi comforted herself, still milling away her nails.

"Don't let them move beyond the threshold, until I come with the aarti." Both sighed in relief. They were not being rusticated from the house.

"Khushi, dear, how are you?" the old grandmother asked while continuously rotating the platter round her and Arnav, which made him dizzy. "I'm fine naniji, what about you all?" she replied, waveringly. "Weren't they supposed to be shouting and screaming at our so called deed?" she thought.

"Nani, what happened is..." Arnav tried negotiating with his grandma, in case she was angry and was not showing it, but, was stopped. "I know what happened, chote. Garima had called. She told us everything. I'm glad you took that step and married her. Her reputation would have been at stake then, and, moreover, you mended your mistake," she turned away to Khushi and kissed her forehead, "We always wanted you as our daughter-in-law but, when we called to bring this alliance forward, we were apprised of your marriage. Yes, we did get sad, and were disappointed, but, now we are more than happy. We've got the daughter-in-law we wanted."

Arnav sighed in relief but thought helplessly, "We're not married Nani."

"Come on Arnav, bring your wife in!" Anjali shrieked in happiness. Without warning, he took the earth away from Khushi's feet, and, carried her in his arms, entering the mansion.

She looked at him, appalled, but content. Even though they were not married, she could continue with this, if this farce would crop up such moments between him and her. He ogled at him, grinning, while he looked away, not wanting to be enraptured by her beauty and doing something embarrassing again, that too, in front of his whole family.

"Careful, chote," Nani ordered as he put Khushi back to the ground, "In this state, she needs much care and attention, and a softer Arnav."

"State?" he asked, confused.

"Yes, Arnav, Khushi is pregnant isn't it?" Anjali asked from behind and he nodded. Darn! Nani thought I married-but not married- her because she was pregnant with my child. That was the mistake she was talking about. I am so doomed.

He brought Khushi to his room- correction carried her to his room- due to the insistence of his family members, that a pregnant woman should not be climbing stairs and advised her to relax, looking at her drowsy face.

Pregnant-Married-Pregnant-Married- Pregnant-Married- Pregnant-Married- Pregnant-Married- Pregnant-Married- Pregnant-Married- Pregnant-Married- Pregnant-Married- Pregnant-Married- Pregnant-Married- Pregnant-Married- Pregnant-Married- Pregnant-Married- Pregnant-Married- Pregnant-Married-

Those words rang in his ears repeatedly like long chains of amino acids. He was, indeed a good Biology student, he noted.
He couldn't keep everyone in darkness.

"They are all in the deception that I've married Khushi and Nani in the glee of seeing her grandchild before she passes away. What will happen in a few months when they will know that Khushi is not pregnant, that we are not married?" Arnav pondered.

The guilt was consuming him steadily and, he didn't know what to do.
Plus, the mail that Khushi had showed him- was it reliable? Was it true?
Such a turmoil and, a dilemma he was in, and, didn't know how to wriggle out of all this.

He needed to talk; he needed to confess it all and, who would understand it all, better than his elder sister, his mentor, Anjali di.

He knocked Anjali's door and, entered the room. "Di?"

"Yes Arnav," she replied, putting her phone away.

"Who was it di?"

"Nothing. I was talking to Shyam about the marriage dates and all. What happened Chote?"

"I need to talk di."
