OS: Fixing Hears And Other Broken Things
_____________________

"Open your eyes Khushi..." Arnav said in a husky voice, as he knelt down in front of her.

Khushi's eyelids immediately fluttered open, and her sight rested on a royal-blue suede box that Arnav held out in front of her.

She arose from the recliner that he had settled her so lovingly in and held his shoulders, motioning him to get up too

He stood in front of her now, watching an array of expressions fleet across his wife's beautiful face; love, surprise and confusion too...

"Arnavji, what is this...?" She looked bewildered at the expensive looking parcel he held out to her.

"Open it and you'll find out.." He said in an 'obvious' tone, with the signature smirk in place.

She slightly furrowed her eyebrows and glared at him suspiciously before snapping open the box.

"How is it?" He said warmly, thoroughly enjoying the look of amazement and appreciation on her face

"This...this..." Khushi could only just stammer as she beheld the beautiful necklace that lay in the box.

It was the same necklace, the one that Nani-ji had gifted to her on the day of the Heer-Ranjha play...

*Flashback*

Khushi trotted up the stairs leading to the side entrance of Shantivan. Her hands were full with the bags she'd carried from the car that contained all their costumes from the fancy dress competition.

She put down the bags for just a minute to catch her breath yet held closely the necklace that Nani had gifted to her, not wanting to part from the token of love that the wonderful old lady had entrusted her with.

"Khushi where were you???"

She heard an angry, loud voice and felt a tight hold on her arms.

She looked into the furious eyes of her husband but kept mum, not wanting to break her promise of disclosing anything.

She had helplessly gone out with that leech Shyam to buy some of Di's medication, but she was sworn to secrecy because Anjali did not want Arnav to be worried for no reason.

"Tell me Khushi, where the hell were you!" He held her tighter this time, furiously demanding an answer.

"Where ever I might have went, it doesn't concern you!" She retaliated to his harshness.

"It does concern me, I'm your husband dammit!" He shouted, shaking her violently.

"No, what I do is my problem...not yours!!!...that is why I will do..."

*CRASH*

Khushi stopped as Arnav ,in a fit of rage, snatched the box from her hand and flung it onto the ground, shattering it into bits and pieces.

She stared at it wide eyed and her heart cried out with grief.

"Look what you've done, Nani gave me that with so much of love and you.." She looked at him in utter disbelief, her voice choking in emotion.

"First tell me where you were!" He mercilessly pinned her to the wall, his fierce grip leaving an imprint on her milky skin.

"Leave me!...leave me right now..." She protested, pushing his muscular frame in futile attempts.

His eyes were seething in fury and he held her in a painfully tight grasp.

"Arnavji...I said leave me,I have work to do!...I have to prepare almond milk for Di and..."

"Oh...Now I understand..."
Arnav said sarcastically.

"What...?" Khushi looked at him utterly confused.

"I know your plan...you want to impress my family, you want to trick them into thinking that you're so great, so that you could extract more jewellery from them...Isn't that what you want Khushi???" He whispered in a low, dangerous tone.

Her eyes were wide open in shock. Amazed at how he could think so low of her!

And before she knew it, streams of tears gushed down her face and her body was almost numb with grief!

*End of flashback*
Arnav watched the hot tears run down Khushi's cheek as she stared at the necklace.

He knew that she was reminded of that day, that unfortunate day...!

How he wished that he could just go back and change everything, but the damage had already been done!

His heart constricted painfully as he remembered the other horrible things he had said to her that day;

*"I can't believe that despite hating you so much, I am forced to see your face everyday...All because of this stupid temporary marriage!"*

He lifted his hand and gently caressed the tears away from her cheek. Her honey-caramel orbs darted upwards and met his molten-chocolate ones, their eyelock conveying much more than words can.

Khushi could sense his remorse...but she didn't want him to feel this way!

She moved closer and cupped his face lovingly.

"Its..its beautiful Arnavji, thank you...for fixing it..." Her trembling voice was laced with gratitude and her own unique sweetness. She smiled warmly, before placing a lingering kiss on his forehead.

"I may have fixed the necklace Khushi...but it doesn't change the fact that I can't undo all those terrible things I've done to you , all the things I said...I..."

"Shhh.."
She whispered, engulfing him in a warm, comforting hug that he immediately reciprocated.

She pulled back and held his face in her hands, in awe of the pure love she saw in his eyes.

"Arnavji, I know that whatever happened between us in the past was not good...but you need to understand that its not your fault, we were all decieved!"

"I know Khushi, but..."

"But nothing!...you need to stop worrying about the past, its over now!...Arnavji, whatever happened ,whether it was for good or bad, doesn't matter anymore...what matters now is the future...OUR future!"

Khushi spoke tenderly as she placed his hand on her slightly rounded baby bump.

"Yes, you can be a shaitan sometimes...but you will always be my rajkumar..." Khushi smiled, happy tears running down her face.

"Khushi please...don't call me a rajkumar!" Arnav said, scowling a little.

Khushi laughed as she threw herself into his arms, holding him close in a warm embrace.

"I love you Khushi, I love you so much..." He whispered into her ear, as he held her close.

"I love you too...dammit!" She replied, before he claimed her lips with his.

***

You must have been sent from heaven
to earth to change me,
You're like an angel...
The thing that I feel is stronger than love
believe me,
You're something special...
I only hope that I'll one day deserve what
You've given me
- but all I can do is try, Everyday of my life...

-Shayne Ward, Breathless.
