Harshavardhan Rane has finally taken the leap to Hindi films. The actor has bagged his maiden Bollywood project to be produced by actor-producer John Abraham. The shooting of the film is underway and the actor was in Bhopal for the same. Titled Satra Ko Shaadi Hai, the movie is a two-hero ensemble cast. "I can't talk much about my role, but all I can say is that I'm in love with it! It's a two-hero project and my co-actor is TV star Barun Sobti," said Rane, who was on his way back to Hyderabad from Bhopal, after shooting for a week.

But this break comes after a false start to the actor's Bollywood career. Slated to star in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela, the actor opted out due to "the nature of his role". "It was a 110-day contract and in addition, they wanted 11 months from me for Ram-Leela. Avunu had just happened and I was in talks with Madhura Sreedhar for a three-film contract and other projects. I thought 11 months was too much to dedicate to a project where I wasn't the lead, so I opted out," explains Harsh, who goes on to admit that it was the "wisest decision" he made. "When I finally saw the movie, I realised the role was so miniscule that I really didn't miss out on anything! In the time that they wanted from me, I shot three Telugu films " Prema Ishq Kaadhal, Maaya and Anamika," says the actor.

But the false start didn't deter him. In fact, he says it was his hard work in Telugu films that helped him bag his new movie. "I was shooting for Maaya when I got a call from John Abraham's office. They told me about the film and asked if I could audition. But since I was shooting, I recorded my audition and sent them the tapes. The next thing I know, I was on board," reveals Harsh.

And now, the actor is confident that his Bollywood debut will be a turning point in his filmi career. "Vicky Donor or Madras Cafe " John's films have been path-breaking. I have full faith in the script of my movie and my director too is a debutante. I like the conviction with which they work and that gives me a lot of confidence," he says. His only regret, he says, is not having his father around to see him finally bag a Hindi film. "I so wish my dad was alive to see me do a Hindi film after acting in six Telugu movies. I sometimes imagine him giving me feedback on my work. But I derive strength from knowing he is watching over me," signs off the actor.
