The sun rose to spread its brightness across the city of Delhi, gifting the people with a brand new day that would bring new things for the people to look forward to. She woke up suddenly to feel dread spread through her. She felt suffocated in the room that always gave her peace. He got up instantly and open her large windows to look out, to breathe in the open and fresh air that helped her calm her nerves at least for a period of time. She shrugged the feeling off with some thought of her parents and her loved ones, once again bringing peace to her mind like she did every time this kind of dread spread through her body. She then started her daily routine, got freshen up and then it being Saturday and a holiday went to visit the temple after telling her parents in hopes that her Devi Maiyya will give her some more tranquility.
So it had happened. Her husband had just informed her about the phone call that her daughter most dreaded since last 3 years. She did not know how to tell her daughter who was at this minute praying to her favorite goddess that the thing she had most dreaded was to happen today. Garima Gupta knew the grief her daughter passed through due to that one incident that changed her life, and she also knew that Khushi would not accept his decision so readily. She was a girl who was reserved about her feelings and never let anyone know about it. She would cry alone in the nights but to refuse to share it with anyone. But this time maybe her decision was right and her daughter would finally find her happiness.
Khushi came through the door of Gupta house, feeling much calmer than in the morning when she started from here. It was always peaceful to visit the temple and spend some time there. She looked at her father who was having his breakfast while her mother was serving him with her face having a look that bought back the dread that she felt in the morning. As Garima turned, looking at khushi with Shahi leaving her Breakfast to give his full attention to his daughter, after all this was the life changing turn in his daughters life.
"He is Back. He is coming tonight. He just called your father in the morning before he sat in the flight."
Garima informed Khushi quietly.
Khushi felt the air knocked out of her body. She felt blank for a moment as if her mind was trying to forget the dreadful information out f her system and then suddenly she recollected what had her mother said. He was coming back and everyone knew the reason for his return. It was Her. Always her. Everything for her. Whatever he had ever done was for her, hamesha. She felt lost as if the last resort was finally here. She instantly reached to keep her head in her father's lap, crying and brawling while Shashi could only run his hands through her hair to calm her. After she quietened, she began to plead her father in hysterics.
"papa, aap meri baat manoge na, aap usse mana kar dena. Wo kuch bhi bole aap bilkul uski baat mat sunna. Aap saath dooge na mera. Aap jante ho na wo aapke permission ke bina kuch nahi karta. Wo aapko bhagwan manta hai. Aap na usse keh dena ki, mai tayyar nai hu. Aap blenge ne. aur koi meri baat nahi sunega, aap jante hai na, sab uski hi side lenge, par aap doge na mera saath. Main tayyar nai hu papa, kabhi nahi hongi, mai uske layak nahi hu papa, aap jante hai na."
(dad, u will listen to me won't you, you have to reject him, let him say anything but you have to reject him. He will listen to you, he never does anything before asking you and treats you like his God. You are with me because no one else is. They all always always side with him. I am not ready, never will be. I am not capable to be near him also. You know that right.)
Shashi felt helpless listening to his daughter in such misery but he knew that the boy that he had nurtured from his infancy was making the right decision, and he trusted them to make the right decision about their lives after all they could die for each other, so why not live together. Garima whereas could not control anymore and left to cry silently. Finally everything would be set right. Her son was coming back. He would set everything to right.
Khushi fell asleep in her father lap crying till she was exhausted. Her mind sending her the message that war was at the hrizon. A war that she had to win so as not to ruin her Angel's life. A war so not even her shadow would come near him. A war to save him from herself.
