Of course nobody wanted to miss the couple dance of Arnav and Khushi... every year the annual event was held with pomp and show and the couple dance event were the most exciting event everybody looked forward to... very batch had their best dancers however none had been able to take the trophy ever since arnav and khushi had stepped on the stage together 5 years back... what made this year even special was this was their last year in college and obviously their last dance together...
the whole college had hidden desires and wishes to see them as one true couple for real but looked like the magic that reached the audience did not reach the performers... arnav and khushi were never together as a couple.. in fact after performances one could hardly spot them together... they were selected the first year with auditions and their dance was such a hit that no auditions were required for that batch ever again... they were the most loved couple ever...
The anchor walked out and announced the dance floor to be open in a couple of minutes... all the eyes in auditorium were glued to the stage and there were no shifting gazes even from either sides...
The lights went Off and the cheers and roars filled the hall making the shift from silence to Ecstasy...
The curtains slowly curled up revealing a dark stage ... nothing could be seen... the audience were lost in a world not seen that had a pin dropped it could be heard...
slowly a dim light begun and the stage was set on a red and white backdrop.. the back drop had a motion picture of a heart beating and millions hearts coming out of it... the floor was drenched with white smoke and red heart balloons making the stage look nothing but heavenly...
suddenly the spot light fell on a place darkening the other areas around... she looked nothing less than an angel from heaven... she was wearing a White long frock with the satin remains surrounding her... her long glistening hair reached upto her waist unbound and a curled frill was flying across her face...
the guys went mad screaming her name and describing her beauty... most of them found her tooo beautiful to handle while some cursed their luck for not having been selected in the audition years back...
suddenly the music began... it was a light felt english music with no words...
the next spot light was on and there he was facing the backdrop showing his back... his masculine shoulders could be perfectly seen beneath the perfect fit of the White shining shirt he wore...
girls skipped their beats as he slowly turned and before they could scream was on his knees with his hands stretching holding a red bouquet of roses in front of khushiii...
with the entire stage in red and them in white with arnav on his kneels reaching to khushi and the mild back ground music it was nothing but a slice of heaven..
khushi gently smiled and took the bouquet.. she placed it by her side and he was still there on his knees his bare hands stretched out...
she lifted her eyebrows wondering what was in store... and he blushed making all the girls blush in their seats and still on knees he swayed his hands indicating her he was asking her for a dance...
khushi flashed the cutest smile ever and slowly slid her palm into his... he closed it and was up in a minute with his right hand and her left hand entwined together and her right hand on his shoulder... he slowly slid his left hand around her petite slender waist pulling her closer...
the heat on the stage set the burning desires alive in millions of eyes gazing at them...
as arnav pulled her closer her glistening dove eyes melted into his chocolate ones... his hands graced her slender waist and he leaned forward dropping a feather touched kiss on her forehead...
though the kiss was obviously faked and his lips barely even touched her she could feel his hot breath on her face which was already sending down shivers around her spine... he looked into her eyes which was glistening with tears confusing him... though they have done several dances together this was the first time he felt a tug in his heart... he din feel he was performing ... the entire crowd had blurred for him and his gaze lay on the ethereal beauty that was standing before him...
the song was played making him come into reality and he put his step forward sn she laid hers backward and he went back making her step forward...
the beats slowly began as he distanced his hand from her waist making her twirl around the tip of his finger... she twirled so gracefully as the long satins twirled with her forming waved making it look heavenly...
she curled herself crossing hands with his holding to his shoulder... they twirled around making patterns as he held her by the waist with his hands and threw her around him makin the people watching their dance catch their breath... he made her glide down gracefully as she held his shoulders for support and sparkling smile with the twinkle in her eyes... he held her from the back and they swayed from right to left for the beats setting the stage and hearts watching on fire...
he bent down from the back whispering something onto her ears as she blushed down all shy... he took a white veil placed by his side and covered it on her head and gently placed a silver crown on it...
arnav himself lost his breath for a few seconds and her senses went haywire as he bent forward mimicking to kiss her cheeks... she could feel his hot breath on her neck as he bent to do that act ...
with his gaze still fixed on her crystal eyes swirled around wearing the blazer over him ... he pulled her close and together they swayed in harmony...he slowly slid his hands into his pockets and fished out the little box exposing the ring inside...
as she gave the final nod he slid the ring into the long slender fingers making her lose her senses... this had been her dream all time along ever since she first saw him in college... she doubted the probability in real but was glad it was happening and she was enjoying the moment wishing it never stopped...
he held the box to her as she took the other ring and slid it down his finger looking into his choclate brown eyes which unlike the other years had the same desires she had... he smiled sheepishly wondering how more excited would she be when this was gonna happen for real... he had planned to tell his love to her on their last day of college but this dance was giving him a chance for a good rehearsal...
their hidden desires for each others which had grown over the years could clearly be read in their eyes and each waited for the other to say...
as they swayed and twirled and turned finally the beats were coming to an end and he lifted her wale pulling her close and bent his head as if to capture her lips ... the hearts flew around... smoke was increased... spot lights were on them darkening everything around and there were lights thrown and finally the screen dropped ...
after a minute of silence the entire audience was filled with applauds and screams and the audience were going all mad and crazy... this was their best couple dance and the theme of an english wedding and the romantic dance was like a dream come true for all...
arnav and khushi stood unaffected at the things around still holding on to each other his lips inches away from hers and their eyes melting into each other...
suddenly their friends entered screaming bringing them to present ...
rithvik hugged him lifting him off the floor making him squeal and simple hugged khushi... they were showering all praises on their brilliant performance but arnav and khushi were too lost themselves...
just as they were to part khushi held arnav's hand and he turned as riithvik and simple were lost in discussing their friend's dance
khushi: thanks arnav... it was always a pleasure to dance with a person like you
arnav smiled ... he was unlike her... he could never speak his heart that easily...
he pulled her for a huge hug surprising her totally...
she slolwy raised her hands hugging him back and he whispered : i can never forget this day... all 5 years were great but this was one of a kind
she broke the hug with all smiles...
khushi: arnav you want to temme something... she threw the question on his face!!
arnav nodded : nothing..
her face fell and she asked again: are you sure??
arnav smiled back nodding his head and she smiled back and finally parted ways...
khushi ran to her room and tugged her pillow letting the tears flow... simple walked in all suprised and she was even suprised to find a huge card on the table...
it was a I LOVE YOU CARD...
Simple.. khushiii are you serious!! you love arnav
khushi nodded : but he does not simple... i wanted to give him this ever since i saw him in first year... i loved him even before all this dancing wancing begun...
simple was shocked...
khushi: but in all 5 years he had never crossed the line of even being just friends... so i decided he was not in love but today was different simple... the dance .. the way he saw the way he held me everything spoke more than him... i am sure it was love simple... i could see the desire in his eyes
simple squealed in delight: so thats something exciting na... why cry
khushi: he fails to admit simple.. i even asked him straight... but... i was just wrong... my hopes went high with the dance and it crashed back... thats why i was crying...
simple: khushii i shall
khushi hugged simple: no yar!! though i couldnt tell the man i loved i am glad i told you... i knew it wont happen anyway but today just got a bit emotional.. last 10 days of coll we will rock it... and pinky promise don tell anyone... and she got up and left to change... tears dropped from simple's eyes as she saw how beautiful khushi had written the card!!!

next morning arnav pulled his sleeves and set his collar and smiled looking at the mirror... he fished out the ring box from his bag and smiled... he imagined the dance and how he hugged her after that... he imagined how sweet she had been to him all the years... though he liked her from the very beginning he wanted to be sure of his feelings for her and their final dance had set everything perfect... he was sure he would propose to her today and he jumped down the fleet of stairs imagining her dove eyes widening in shock and her mouth shaping her standard O...
he had never told even his friends yet... and for the reserved person he was though rithvik kinda knew he liked khushi he never even in his dreams could guess arnav would be planning to propose to her...
just as he got into his bike the warden came forward bringing him a letter... he smiled.. it was his reports from the hospital.. he had applied for his visa... he opened it to get the shock of his life hitting him down the drain... it stated his blood reports were not normal and he was sufferring from bone cancer...he had taken the test due to severe pain in his back but he thought it was coz dancing... lump struck his throat and his legs gave way as he slipped off his bike and rushed to hsi room closing the door behind him...
finally he let the news sink into him and he realized how unfortunate he was... the fact of death awaiting him was not that made his eyes drench in tears but he fact that he will move away from her is what that hurt more... he took out the ring box and opened it clutching it to himself for dear life as his tear drops surfaced the ring...he sunk down by the recliner burying his face into his knees holding on to himself tighter... all that was in his mind was khushiii... her smile her talk... her hands.. the way he had died to capture her sparkling lips today after sliding the ring for real into her hands... he cant do it now... he cant be selfish... he cant give her 10 mins of joy today which will bring her loads of hurt and pain tomo... his love was meant to be with him... never shared... he composed himself washed his face and walked down slidding the ring box in his pockets...
he walked into his hall which was decorated for farewell...khushi was smiling away chatting with her friends happily... he stood taking in her face in his heart and his lips curved a smile as she sighed after poring the pepsi over her... she slipped on it and his hand reached for her as she set herself at a disatnce and stuck out her tongue at simple... arnav looked at his hands still in the air... he was meters away from her and he knew his hands wont reach her.. he smiled sheepishly as he slid his hands back into his pockets and walked towards the other guys...
how he wished he could run to her and carry her away from this maddening crowd to a place where only she and he belonged and he could live that life for eternity... his heart told him to go tell her but his mind stopped him... he din wanna act foolishly... he is gonna die anyway and he must not spoil her life forever... his love today would destroy her smiles tomo... he smiled as he clashed his glass for cheers with rithvik...
as they were all set to leave and part khushi walked to him...hugged him tight... he hugged her back with all her might
she looked at him: arnav are you sure your fine???
arnav stared back in shock: why do you ask that khushiii
she smiled : i have danced with you for various emotions arnav... i am quiet good at that u knoe
arnav knew nobody but her could find out
arnav hugged her again and khushi felt a strange feel in him... he parted the hug smiling at her... his eyes spoke what his lips refused... she thought may be she was wrong.. she was expecting too much...
he could see the wait in her eyes but he knew he was staying quiet only for her and of course she will know why he never told her very soon... his death would speak for him...
arnav: so all the best khushiii... and don forget me when you dance in futureee
khushi smiled nodding her head and as she turned a tear dropped from the corner of her eyes...
just as she crossed the road a huge truck hit her making her fly in the air as she screamed AAARRRNNAVVV and arnav turned back only to see her land on the floor with a thud...he ran to her shocked to see her lying in a pool of her own blood... he lifted her hugging her tight to himself crying out...
but she never responded... she stayed lifeless in his arms ... he begged her and screamed at her patting her cheeks to open her eyes... she lay stilll... she was rushed to the hospital in minutes but things were too late... the doctor said she had died on the spot...
arnav left the room crashed to the floor with tears ... simple could see the love in his eyes ... his words of regret... she walked up to him and placed the card in his hands...his heart pricked and bled as he read the words... he was sure she would love him but he never knew he was loved more than he had dreamt...
he had not told her his love today thinking about her tears tommorrow when in her tomorrow never existed... he walked back inside seeing her lifeless body and fell by his knees crying... he dropped a kiss tight on her forehead!!i love you khushiii... i really dooo... i wish you can hear me!
a year later rithvik entered the hospital to see his friend... arnav's state had worsened in addition to the depression... the doctors had told him it was his last hours...
he entered the room and arnav opened his eyes...
arnav: dude... why are you standing there?? come in na...
rithvik sat beside him as tears welled his seeing the machines around him
arnav: i wish they had an additional monitor to play games...its such a bore to lay still all the while...
rithvik burried his face on arnav;s chest crying out: shut up... jjuussstt shut up... you better not leave me
arnav lifted his head smiling: i am here alwaysss... he took out a box from under his pillow and gave it to him...
rithvik: arnavvv thisss
arnav: let me tell u a dying secret
rithvik: arnavvv shut up
arnav: you din tell simple na
rithvik: i will tell her sometime in future dude... whats the hurry
arnav: hahaha.. he laughed as tears flew down his eyes... don wait for tomorrow... you know it never comes... and remember me when you tell her...
rithvik saw the ring and smiled : this was khushi na arnav
arnav smiled as a tear made way from the corner of his eyes: IF ONLY SHE KNEW!!
and unknown somewhere distance away from earth she smiled : i did.. i always did... if only you knew!!!
