Episode 159
Scene: Arnav and Khushi looking at each other at the start of the New Year
Chehra
Arnav:
Chehra tumhara dekhliya, ab chain aaya saanson mein
Khud ghut sa gaya tha, apni hi kahi baaton mein
Roka maine khudko bada, magar mujhe aana hi pada
Jaane anjaane hi sahi, saamne tumhare main hoon khada
Chaahe samjho badtameezi, ya samajhlo isey gustaakhi
Naye saal ka jashan, tumhe dekhkar maine manaa hi li
Khushi:
Man hi man mein jo chaha tha, par maana na kabhi humne
Jise dekhne ki tamanna thi, wo chehra aa gaya saamne
Translation:
Arnav:
I have seen your face, now my breath has settled
I felt choked up myself, with the words that I said
I tried to stop myself, but I had to come
Unknowingly though, I am now in front of you
You may take it as misbehaviour or an act of insolence
By looking at you, I have celebrated my new year
Khushi:
In my heart of heart for which I had wished for, but never agreed to
Which I had hoped to see, that face came in front of me
I had no hope that this thought would be fulfilled
Should I believe it or not, is this reality or a dream
Didn't need a jalebi, or had any question in the heart
I have seen you, and my new year is filled with sweets

A Hindi poem from you at last! Splendid Durgey!👏👏 How they crave in their heart of hearts to see each other! Beautiful emotions in your poem⭐️ The last two lines in particular are fascinating
Na jalebi ki zaroorat padi, na man mein raha koyi sawaal
Deedar aapka hogaya, mithaas se bhar gaya naya saal

Episode-160

After bua's incessant yell Khushi lies down on the edge of the bed. She is looking at Arnav's sluggish figure eerily. Bua scolds her why she is lying on the edge; she may fall down and breaks her bones. She tells her to move close to payal. Khushi moves a bit closer to that covered figure. She asks buaji, will she go to sleep after doing all this? Bua nods yes. Before leaving she tucks her well and cares the clad Payal as well. Arnav gets languid under the blanket. When bua left, Khushi looks at Arnav's clad figure, her breathing gets haywire, she shuts her eyes in anticipation.

Arnav slowly uncovers him and gets up with a big grin in his face. He is ready to rebuke Khushi, but when he looks at her angelic face his anger evanesces. Rabba vey's romantic note is playing on the BG. His eyes flicker with a soft glow. He gets lost in silent meditative contemplation for a while. He gets mesmerized to see the innocent beauty. His hand lifts up involuntarily to remove the errant lock from her face.. When his hand is just an inch above her eyes, she opens her eyes with a jolt. She sits up immediately. Her dupatta is not in its place. She feels exposed, uneasiness occurs. After a little pause Arnav starts to chide her,

"Why did you have to confront me? Spoiled my new year."

Khushi retaliates him grimly

"I didn't come in front of you. You were predicting like an astrologer that I somehow will come in front of you. But it's you who came in front of me and spoiled my new year."

Arnav raises his finger towards her and says

"Don't think that I came in front of you, so you won."

It's time for Khushi to point back at him. She is perking up that, she has already won, so she doesn't need to think.
Arnav screams at her to shut up.

Bua screams from outside, "what she is doing?"

Botth are baffled, what to do. They try to get down from the bed. But Khushi's kurti gets stuck in his watch. Arnav's phone also starts to ring at the same time. Khushi tells him to answer it quickly, otherwise buaji may come inside. But Arnav is in such a position that can't reach to his pocket to get the phone and his other hand his stuck with Khushi's dress. They struggle to extricate the kurti from his watch, but can't do it. Where, Khushi is pushing him to answer the phone as quick as possible. Arnav is gritting his teeth in anger,

"Think, what are you saying."

He moves his hand with a jerk and thereby rips Khushi's tops. Khushi's mouth comes to a perfect "O" to see the ripped tops.

It's Akashs who called. Arnav is frustrated. He tells him that he is entrapped here. .Khushi rankles; she is flickering in anger, comes in front of him to fight.

"What you just did?

He shows her his hand to stop. He tells her that Payal is on the door. Khushi is fuming. She asks him again why he did it. Before leaving Arnav stands back and banters at her,
"what did you say a while ago, that you won, I lost, but the winner's visage is not supposed to be like this."

He points at her ripped shirt. Khushi is exasperating more to see his jeer. He moves towards her prowlingly, what makes her steps back involuntarily.

"You lost KKG. Have a wonderful new year."

After finishing his jibe he leaves.

Khushi is stupefied to see his highhandedness.

These two are no less than kids.

Arnav is sullen. Akash asks Arnav why he stayed back. Arnav answers him grimly, that his phone dropped in her room.

Payal also asks Khushi, why Arnav was there? Khushi is still annoyed,

"To spoil my new year."

She is beseeching DM to protect her. Khushi asks Payal how she celebrated her new year. Payat feels shy to answer. So Khushi jests her, do you guys talk or just stay demure. She imitates what do they do ,

"akashji",... "payalji..."

She is moving close to her. Payal notices her ripped shirt. When she asks her Khushi says

"E hamari naye saal ki haal ka prateek.( this is the symbol of my condition of this new year)"

She is mourning; she must did something bad, so that she had to see the laad governor's face at midnight. Payal again asks her how her shirt ripped.

Arnav is still annoyed. Akash notices the shinny pieces of clothes clinging from his watch. When he asks him, he recollects the scene what just happened in Khushi's room. The thought embitters him, how cum he let it happened. He talked so big, but he himself came in front of her! He is yelping at Akash that everything happened because of him. There is puzzled look in Akash's face. . Arnav grumbles,

"Whatever, let it be, shakal dekhlee to dekhlee. ( It's ok that I saw her face.)"

Akash asks him, why he is so upset? He doesn't believe in this kind of superstition. He agrees, but he is still annoyed that Khushi Kumari Gupta now thinks that he lost and she won. Akash is ambiguous why it matters him so much that KKG won!

Khushi tells Payal what Arnav bragged and what really happened. She won but still Arnav claimed that he won. Payal doesn't get the game of winning and losing.

But Khushi is in full vengeance spree. She takes a vow.

"hum Khushi Kumari Gupta, devi maiya se kasam khate hai, ke ye naya saal humare jeet ke naam ki hoga.haar chahe beahhal ho, lekin hum harbar jeet ke dekhayegi. Ye phate gote ka badla uss laad governor ki haar ke saath chukana hoga.

Translation: I KKG vow on DM that, this new year will be dedicated to my victory. No matter what I'll win. I will accomplish the revenge of my ripped lace by defeating the laad Governer

Tumhari inteqam ki aag agar sulaaj jaye naa to tum batti bujhake sone ajana.

Translation: If the flame of your vendetta abates, you should come to sleep.

Payal can't take her drama any more. Khushi is munching the jalebi and getting mentally prepared for the revenge.

Akash says Arnav that if NK would go with him, he wouldn't bother him. Arnav exasperates more to hear NK's name.

"Just ask NK where he was", he says gritting his teeth.

NK seems lost in heaven, wearing a pink pajama, taking the aroma of the rose, eating chips. When he hears Arnav and Akash, he jumps to the bed. Akash asks him angrily what is all about this? But he immediately looks at himself, wearing payal's dad pajama, looking so funny! Arnav asks NK what about his jet lag. NK pretends that he gotta headache again. He tossed ant turned so many times, but when he couldn't sleep, he went for a little walk.

"So your little walk became so long that headed to Khushi's home!"

NK stammers, Kkkhushi, nnnoo, Nanav

Akash also stammers with him ppplllzzz. NK Arnav looks at him baffled.

"excuse me."

His two simpleton brothers and crazy Khushi are literally deranging him. NK denies that he went to Khushi's house. NK asks them for saboon (soap). Akash and Arnav mend him saboot (evidence). Arnav says confidently that he is lying; he went to Khushi's place and gave flowers to bua. NK says it was for Khushi. Oops he got caught. But he asks him instead, how cum he knows? Rather answering him, Arnav asks him the reason.

"nannav tum jawan ho, hairan ho phir bhi pareshan ho.jaab ek jawan larka, ek jawan larki ki ghar jate hai, to mamla thora namkeen hai."

Translation: Nannav, you are young, restless, but still upset. When a young guy goes to a young girl's house, the matter is something dishy, right Akash?

Akash is smiling to hear this. He rectifies him; its sangeen (fishy).Akash is about to give him high-five but stops at Arnav's glare. Arnav asks NK if he didn't go there then where the rose came from. NK says it's from his garden. Arnav refutes, he doesn't have rose in his garden, so it must not dropped from the sky. NK sarcastically says, if you have so much mukhwas in God then it must be dropped from heaven. They again mends him it bhishwas (belief). NK's gibberish talk makes him irascible

"After KKG I only can say unbelievable for you."

They strides across his room in rage. Nk asks them why they are leaving. He wishes them happy New Year. He is exulting

"Aaj to daal daal bach gayi.oh Khushiji"

He dives in the bed.

Anjali is upset that she couldn't see Shyam's face @ 12.

(pause: it must be an indication of the future, that she will not see Shyam's face any more.)

Shyam says she can see him now and in some countries the New Year's Eve is just celebrating. Anjali gets delectable to hear this. She looks at him lovingly. But the rogue is carefully looking at Khushi's pic on his phone.

(his effrontery makes me spew)

Arnav storms into the pool side and asks Anjali about the incident. Shyam avoids eye contact with Arnav. Arnav scolds her how she became so careless and why she needed to do the lighting and all that?. Shyam convulses to hear this. He assures Arnav that so far his di is with him he is completely safe.

What a lie!😡

Anjali tells him to relax, she is fine. She asks him, where did he go, did he go to a party?

He sure went to a party. Had a blast with his crazy girl.😆

Arnav recollects his confrontation with Khushi. But he evades to answer.

Goodnight

He huddles away fast.

On the next day while Khushi was drying up the washed clothes, her ripped kurti reminds her last night encounter with Arnav. She is still in resentment and accusing DM for testing her again and again. But at the same time she is sure of her winning. Bua comes and gets flummoxed to see her torn kameez; how cum she welcomed New Year with ripped kameez? Bua's words perturb Khushi more.

"yeh phatti huye kurte se ye maat samajhna ki hum hur gayi. (don't misunderstand to see this ripped kurti that I lost. I didn't lose.)'

Bua is ambiguous, what game she is playing that thinking about winning and losing!😆 Bua tells her to leave her childish acts and get ready to take sweets to RM for the new year. She adds that she has to practice for the sangeet as well.

"Sangeet?"

Khushi's face glints with a smile.

"yulgar, yulgar, yulgar (attack, attack, attack)"

She is screaming and runs inside the house. With a spatula she commands everybody to get ready for the jung (battle).

Bua thinks she is talking about jang (rust) on the spoon. Khushi rectifies her; she is talking about the fight in the wedding, the rasam(custom) of sangeet, the winning and losing game in sangeet. Bua chides, wedding is the felicitous event, and it's not a battlefield.

Khushi is full in her drama mood. She became strenuous, talking and acting simultaneously that after last night it turned to a battle ground. She is pointing the spatula towards the front and saying sarcastically that in this battle we will be the winners. She is already exulting her victory. Payal got that some naughty ideas are going on in her khorapati dimaag (naughty mind)

Niche nahi uchi, awaz uchi, hosle uchi, saar uchi, ye jang mein jeet humari hogi, aur haar samne waloki."

(not downwards, but upwards, high volume, high aspiration, head high, we will vanquish and lose who will be in front."

Bua thinks she meant samnewalo as their neighbor, lata and medha. Khushi tells them she is talking about the battle between the bride's side and the groom's side.

Ek taraf Gupta parivar, aur doosri tarak Lucknow ka Raizada Khandan

(Gupta family is in one side and Raizada clan in other side.)

the denouement of her drama made me LOL.

sohara .just breath taking gif at the top and the VM with my Saibo song..Don't like the movie though.

Love the bed scene ...my fav one,his anger melts in seconds looking at the sleeping snow white...His urge to remove her locks as always he does not like anything covering her face for his sight...
Then our Drama queen starts with her channel non stop...with her bitter batter...
You are so right they are just kids...who won or lose who cares it's what they both wanted yet doesn't wanna accept it...BUT both are satisfied seeing each other

His yelling at Akash and making him confuse was hilarious and same Payal and Khushi.Payal is right where is this winning and losing come from as two hearts wanna see each other to be with each other for the rest of the life.

The despicable is getting creepier each day .. Totally disgusting...

Yes war and yulgar is so on...for winning the sangeet ...

Thnx sohara

epsiode opens on a scene that almost has me yelling, "just loop it!" along with young man going down-isstairs there are all these off hand, not to make a great point of it sort of scenes where it feels a shame that they were shown only once. to wit: asr putting on tie, taking of waistcoat, unbuttoning coat, reversing... stuff like that. as the white big car arced away and they cut to man looking at rear view mirror going for a smooth long reverse spin, i felt an elation in my heart that was almost spiritual in intensity. i am serious here, of course.

he of course, says, "get out," and she is bound to come back with an "o" but there was something else in his eyes this time. not so harsh somehow. laconic as ever, he doesn't say much, just points with a slight gesture. she looks down, sees what's the problem, expression switches to slightly embarrassed air, she hadn't been expecting this, in fact was all set to go to war. the man was actually being decent to her. unbelievable.

she: dupatta
he: itsy bitsy teeny tiny turn of head... i interpret as, yeah, that's right. how so issmart, bwoy. why why why. just to kill aunties, i bet.

she scrambles off to change. he looks at her departing figure, face inscrutable, yet just a little bit of something almsot indulgent lurking there. he shakes it off with an, "unbelievable!"

at rm, miss kkg is busy getting things done for the sangeet. she and anjali at work, she's on the phone, ordering sweets. "ji aap likhiye, kaju ki barfi, gulab jamun..." ji, you right, cashew barfi, g jams... girl talks, man walks down the stairs... "rasgulle..." pause... she sees him, he turns and looks at her... an infinite moment, she is ordering goodies that he can have none of, a funny pain in a funny girl for the man who calls her unbelievable and makes love to her regularly with a "get out."

"di, main meeting ke liye jaa raha hoon, thodi der mein aa jaoonga..." di, i am going for a meeting, will be back in a bit... she looks after him as he leaves, still rattled. i feel like leaping in front of her, waving my hand and saying, "haan haan, khushi ji, hum jaante hain ki aap asr se pyaar nahin karte..." yes, yes, khushi ji, i know you don't love asr...

in the car we have him looking as she leaves with a considering gaze, and now her. mirroring, ipk style. but a lovely way to say, they linger in each other somewhere. it's getting harder to just look away and drive off or call people laad governor. they register with each other. the eyes wants to look on... the dil maange more.

and then down the same stairs comes slither. she looks up, her expression again changes like that. he's positively lecherous with that icky smile. she turns awa. again a paralleling. long back, in episode 49, there was a scene where the two men sit next to each other at the dining table and think of the same girl.

this is what i'd written then:

taking over from her husband, wither thou goest anjali says, guess what khushi is from lucknow. two frowns, a smile, and head turn one... head turn two.

so much enters a pair of eyes as the owner recalls a young woman telling him she's going away... to lucknow... forever.

tainting the purity of that moment, an illicit sneaky memory of a girl in a saree, looking beautiful, smiling. camera puts the two men thinking of the same girl in the same frame. felt more vulgar than la romping around the house in a bathrobe. obscene almost. bet that's exactly what the creatives planned.

there was always something tragic about the triangle that was created with a young, innocent girl at its core. she had no idea what was happening, and she definitely did not invite anyone's attention. two men, with other women in their lives, forgot their limits, one at least had no idea himself as to what was happening and the moment he did he acted the correct way, but the other? look at him... even now.

sadly, this is what happens in reality too. and in a place where a girl's "abroo," her respect her honour gets compromised at the drop of hat, where the onus seems to be almost on her to keep disgusting men from philandering, khushi is helpless in ways many in a contemporary, urban milieu with a western mindset may not understand. she can't blow the whistle top of her lungs even if she wanted to... too many lives, too many feelings at stake. the "respect" of the raizadas as it were, apart from her own families. but still, she could have told asr, that i have to say was a big mistake. it allowed for precisely the situation we are seeing right now.

our actions have their impact, their repercussions... nothing can save us from that. the meetha and namkeen of good direction in these two parallel scenes of the man falling in love and the man in perpetual lust. visually it felt like a triangle.

shyam tried to paint the truth in a certain light, sure it would get him what he wanted... anjali's money and khushi's "yes," his brain swarming with sick desire he planned and pitched his campaign. khushi was not taken in, and yet a night of difficult thoughts. the director too chose a different light to show khushi in this state. added dimension to her character, khushi had deeper planes and valleys in her, her sunny nature may not give enough hint of it. and when in front of others, she would not reveal her inner turmoil, khushi would not want anyone to worry on her behalf... maybe of that comes the attitude of "i'll take care of everything, i can manage," had the creatives not lost the plot when it came to khushi, we might have seen a hugely interesting character evolve here too.

the theme of triangles continued as 148 brought us yet another love story with three people. a solid lusty bromance.

akash and asr were always shown to be close to each other, but with that interaction on the stairs started a boisterous fun time with the boys. two of them were here... the third was about to appear. before that, his aunt of course had to say a few bizarre things, act as chorus, apprise the audience of the essential details of the new entrant. like, he comes from kidney... "kidney se aay raha hai aeroplane udke..." the aeroplane is coming flying from kidney... instantly to mind that old sardarji joke where he taps his head and says "kidney, kidney," when asked what's the secret of his phenomenal knowledge of biology, meaning "brain, brain," needless to say... way before santa banta there were these simple jokes, silly but unforgettable. i bet utkarsha naik knew it too. no wonder she enjoyed herself so much.

seeing the over excited aunt, asr is intrigued. akash enlightens him, "aap ko pata hai na aaj kaun aa raha hai." you know who's coming today.

for once akash has a good idea... run.

the man is a bit slow on the uptake today, he's still wondering, what's the date, "o god i forgot... par usske liye car bhi nahin bheji..." but i haven't sent a car for him...

akash is in control of the situation, wow... "nahin don't worry about that... driver ko pata hai ki ussko airport jana hai..." don't worry, the driver knows he has to go.

"usske flight kab hai akash?" when is his flight, akash! a note of panic in the hushed voice... they do not wish aunt to know.

um... desperate watch check by akash... a hand gesture... gone, too late.

finally, "let's get out..." sexiest ever. the entire staircase interaction is worth playing intermittently as episodes run. akshay and barun are in perfect sync, you can feel the zing between them, and they are funny... no doubt about it. none of that thick meh television soap humour here, it's real, sexy and guffaw giving.

adding to this, mami's arbitrary twistiya, "kaas tum log pharen-return hote... gori gori daater in la aati aur kahti, maam, hum tumri daater in law hai." if only you were foreign-return, fair fair daughters-in-law would come and say, mom, i'm your d-i-l... "humse kahti, bootiphool mother in laaa," would have said to me, beautiful m-i-l... please note look on her indian nephew and son's faces, especially the neph.

the "foreign-return," what a concept. how it excites us, this thing of "abroad," while we adore the motherland, somehow the touch of foreign land (by which i think we mean essentially western countries... uk, us right on top, australia not too bad either, once in a way, a germany or france) hayeee how we loves it. such a lot of pride in saying the son got educated abroad, or the sister has been living in london you know, or the neph is coming from kidney, aastraliya.

for mami ji, nand kissore, her own nephew who lives in gora-land is no less than a major status symbol. she who was a maid prior to her marriage, has very few things she can flaunt that give her "face." one of them is arriving any moment now.

can you blame her for going all filmi and repeating a scene from a popular film, movies being possibly her main source of info and knowledge (as mine is a daily soap)?

delightful set of scenes.

"ok... hum chalte hain," nephew can't take it any more, he's gotta go.

"have fun," smiles son as he hastens to make his exit... but alas too late.

"maasi..." a voice from nowhere, where, is he here is he there... nice touch, creatives, funny and sort of cocky... this is nand kishore, krishna, after all, his voice cometh from the heavens it seems.

ooo aay gawa... he's here, mami ji as proud maasi goes into super drama. the two bros fall apart, mami fancies she hears a helicopter landing a la kkkg, anjali asks the wrong question, "chhote waise tum unse itna darte kyun ho?" chhote why are you so scared of him... man not happy.

enter nk.

"aai gaya humra pharen return bootiphool babua humra nand kissore aayi gawa" ah the ecstatic aunt. she whirls around when at the last minute nand kishore stops the game and appears... on flamenco music. akash grips asr's shoulder. time to for support group. (those who have had cousin's cousins they couldn't take, or even cousins, but had to in that nice indian happy big extended fam way, will know exactly what the two feel at this instant.) but the rest of the clan is delighted. so cute this spiky haired cool dude, ear stud in place.

"you know, mausa ji, yeh india ke sparsh bhi na..." nk said "sparsh" or touch for "farsh" floor, and so started the saga of wrong hindi words that would keep us giggling and deciphering wildly forever. have to say, karan goddwani has this clean clean feel... difficult to dislike him, and yes, if i had a cousin like that i'd run for cover too.

he told all to call him nk, short and sweet and then gave asr the name which stood a 180 degrees on the other side from the haughty arrogant three initialed rakish one... "hey naanav, naanav mere bhai give me hug!"

naanav? phhwa...

"arnav," corrects the man coldly... but this is naaty nk you're up against.

"dekho dekho naanav ke naak se ghooan araha hai..." of course, he means "dhooan" smoke... that's coming out of asr's nose ... everyone takes turn correcting his hindi... but i'm stuck on the image of fire breathing asr.

as nk carries on regardless, through gritted teeth asr enquires, "aane mein koi takleef toh nahin hui?" no problems getting here?

and sweet nk, as innocent in many ways as the extremely non-phaaren-return khushi, launches into a lovely account of all the fun he had flying business. all those people who are too jaded to appreciate these little luxuries should listen to this lovely flakepot. bright gleaming life in his eyes.

the triangle is complete. yo , bromance.

but before i go, nk said, he had no trouble doing the entire journey... even cried after watching harry potter, but after getting to here, he found it difficult to find the main door. what... are the creatives trying to hintiya something...

Lovely Indi

Yes his small smirk in the car seeing her with towel was way cute but he hides it behind his arrogance yet caring one.
Undelined I totally agreed with you that she could tell Arnav but as i mentioned in my reviews ,he wouldn't believe her at first but definitely investigate though and situation will be different but then where this feeling come from"tum har kaam akaile nahin kar saktin"..."I hope Khushi akaile na aiye ho " during kidnapping after the oil/water splashing on him...

Love the way you took Bermuda triangle...You are taking in Bromance and The biggest one Arnav-Khushi-Shyam since ever...I see a couple more...as Three men around Khushi...Anjali-Khushi-Arnav...etc
There is no question NK's arrival is the most Dhamakedar one as others entry had no meaning for me...

He proved a really good brother of Khushi...

Thnx Indi

These two are no less than kids. You are on the dot!

She imitates what do they do😆 ,

Thrilling this moment, so much fun!!

Khushi is munching the jalebi and getting mentally prepared for the revenge.😆😆 Love every bit of the munch

Akash says Arnav that if NK would go with him, he wouldn't bother him. Arnav exasperates more to hear NK's name.

"Just ask NK where he was", he says gritting his teeth.

NK seems lost in heaven, wearing a pink pajama, taking the aroma of the rose, eating chips.😆 When he hears Arnav and Akash, he jumps to the bed.

Akash also stammers with him ppplllzzz.😆 NK Arnav looks at him baffled.

"excuse me."😆

His two simpleton brothers and crazy Khushi are literally deranging him😆 NK denies that he went to Khushi's house.

"nannav tum jawan ho, hairan ho phir bhi pareshan ho.jaab ek jawan larka, ek jawan larki ki ghar jate hai, to mamla thora namkeen hai."😆

Translation: Nannav, you are young, restless, but still upset. When a young guy goes to a young girl's house, the matter is something dishy, right Akash?

Akash is smiling to hear this. He rectifies him; its sangeen (fishy).Akash is about to give him high-five but stops at Arnav's glare😆.

He dives in the bed.😆

Had a blast with his crazy girl.

"yeh phatti huye kurte se ye maat samajhna ki hum hur gayi.😆 (don't misunderstand to see this ripped kurti that I lost.

She is screaming and runs inside the house😆. With a spatula she commands everybody to get ready for the jung (battle).

Bua thinks she is talking about jang (rust) on the spoon😆.

She is already exulting her victory😆.

Bua thinks she meant samnewalo as their neighbor, lata and medha😆.

Sohara, laughed my way through this crazy lovely episode and as a result your take has my grins😆 all the way though! Thank you for this...an interesting mix of language and fun your take is, as always. And i'm amazed yet again as to how packed the episodes were those days with ideas and energy. So many great details all the way...from the marvelous finger pointing... to trying to extricate watch from kurti while looking for the phone that won't stop ringing... to the car ride with Aakash in Babuji's pyjamas, being accused of what, he has no clue...to NK with the chips and the rose and the pink mickey mouse get-up and the mukhwaas... to Khushi's sweet imitation of Payal and Aakash inching their way towards each other, followed by the oath taking with devi maiyaa in the presence of the jalebi...to the yalgaars with Buaji as Medha and Lata find place in the narrative...wow!!!! So much is said and had fun with! Was still only 20 minutes long, the show, but milked to cream every second of the way. Fabulous, the performances too. Cos ideas, they attract ideas... so also the case with energy. Exhilarating to watch! And read here!

Loved the VM, beauty all the way ❤️❤️

But we should agree that Khushi's influence is strong in the family. Once you said in one of your analysis that Raizada family is matriarch. And it's reprimanding again and again.

they didn't beguile him.I think they ponder him and give importance to his words that's why they did this drama. To get my work done, i also do such kind of drama with my mom often
Arnav also was not against sangeet at the beginning. he was getting irascible to see Khushi and NK's growing amicability.that's why he objected. But as we know he looks astute from outside, but he loves his family unconditionally. And when it's his di, he gets more weak. Though later Khush became everything in his life and I think more than his di also.

thanks, sohara, especially for that "brilliant." 😳 his family indeed is paagal, in fact , there have always been references to the raizada paga khana 😆, i mean his grandma keeps goat as a pet and talks to it as though its human... sooo wacko and cute, huh. i like the point you make aboutr the fam having an easy way accepting a woman as its head, and giving women a certain place, actually lots of evidence of that, perhaps one of the most striking: mami ji. despite her not too admirable traits, no dirth of love and respect for her. and she certainly is the badi bahu of the clan, no one can mess with that, even sasu maa loves her lazy, loud wife in her own way.

i have to say because of these things and their unpretentious ways i have to love these loonies.

your point about them actually loving and respecting chhotey and trying to find a way around his "no" is a good one. and i guess when has a temper like his, people around naturally have to become a bit manipulative... knowing his bark is worse than his bite, that he's a softie at heart, but to get him to do certain things, games must be played.

having said that, i still feel bad for my paagal gussa man. see, i have this thing for this character, don't ask me why. 😆

Your last para above, Indi, it resonates within like heartbeat ❤️ He is who he is. Has a right to deal his own deck. Whatever his reasons.

...Aur hum bhi gussa, Arnav ji. For your folks, they just don't let you be. Peechhey hee padd jaate hain. Lecture pe lecture about how you should live your life. And now on your case for wanting some quiet, some peace!
Ya, we do love all things OTT 😊 Yalgaar, pratiyogita, mudra are worlds we'd like to inhabit with Khushi ji... but for the sake of the man, for his temperament and his taste, why can't we please just let him be?! Humen sangeet nahin chahiye!! i almost felt like yelling between this episode and the last!
But then of course came the Sangeet and deliciously soaked were we, like in the first rains of summer. Blissed out, delirious. Washed away was gussa and all, and promptly ushered in mausam most memorably suhana 😊😊... And with it the feeling that all that had transpired before this bliss, by way of humor, was merely a way to get to heaven...not the best way perhaps, but who cared by then!
Like you say it :
as new year progresses toward sangeet, a mood change is being affected... lightness is its goal. and so creatives go for humour.
Sachh Baat Bilkul!!

The opening scene of the episode. Lovely scene indeed. Silent leaps of desire meet Eyes wide shut. Hello Hi Bye Bye. Much is felt when nothing is said. Khushi ji, when you're with him, aap aankhen zyada bund kiya karo (and you can keep mumbling devimaiyya devimaiyya devimaiyya if that keeps you going, Parmeswari! 😆). You will not believe how much the Raizada says with his eyes when yours are closed and when there's a nice peaceful sannaatta around...ask us, we know... in that moment, we move not, breathe not, and certainly speak not. Never! Unhe khamoshi pasand hai. So it shall be.

Khamoshi, an evocative, sad, disturbing film... a beautifully restrained performance there, and a beautifully restrained one here as well. And an equally beautiful lack of vanity in both. Humaare Arnav ji and Waheeda Rehman's Nurse Radha. Never thought I'd compare his work to hers! Happy you brought the Khamoshi reference here, Indi... nice nice.

love is not an utterance, love is not a voice/sound,
it's a silence which listens and speaks.

asr and khushi, this is their love. which is why perhaps it never really mattered to me whether there marriage had social/legal validity... it was never about relationships named by us, it was always about love.

Well said and cheers to that!

And before i go... man is asking aman to take a look at what's up with his office renovation, i'm thinking, nothing to write about here... he listens to aman's reply, his eyes harden, his body says heck, he says, "agar koi problem hai to fix it, dammit," a stressed "fix" and a leisurely emphatic "dammit," i start to type frantically. why so hot, mistah. Let us, my friend, loop this too i say!! 😆

hayeee issk,

how i can miss this, tells me.

fantastic take on a take.

restrained performance.

you know, i haven't watched khamoshi in years, only a couple of songs recently, my favourite tum pukaar lo where she slowly walks up the stairs drawn to him clutching a copy of meghdoot, then walks down a corridor to his room, stands for a while listening to him, a world of feelings in her eyes and gait, a tear escapes, all in silence, and then down again she goes, couldn't leave the book as she'd meant it seems (must say asit sen directed these movies madly well, met his niece recently, said in that scene the man sitting with his back to camera is initially sen himself... hichcock ishtyle).

i thought there was a certain similarity in nurse radha's intensity and asr's, both terrifically restrained performances as you say. difference only, this one was done almost on a daily basis across more than year, with not exactly asit sen or hitchcock directing. where did this call centre boy get his asr from? how he varied expressions so it wouldn't become predictable... every what the different... the dammits exactly where they need to be., and those eyes that speak when she shuts hers and there's sannata (beautifully written buy you... yes, khushi should practice some of that stuff). "in that moment, we move not, breathe not, and certainly speak not." 😆and we think not.

i hope by now you know pink means me smitten.

thanks for feeling the things i did re the tricking and shameless manipulation using his weakness. and i too sort of forgave them when someone pulled and lifted and twirled in and held from the back a woman in green... but phir bhi, i feel bad for my gussa man. question of rights remain. if khushi ji is allowed to be everything she is, kahe nahin my khadoos bitwa. hyuk.

the fact that he rarely spoke in the beginning and conveyed so much through just eyes and body language, maybe that helped barun connect with his character in a way much deeper than what ready dialogues allow you. i mean you really have to find this person.. and 😳

okay, indi, stop.

Why Indi, why stop? We love ur "rambles" don't u know? You know ASR was introduced to me before Barun and like everyone i was heraan, how this yummy guy can play that yummy guy so well... But it's there inside of him somewhere behind the happy go lucky prankster. Even the director can't be so thorough, Barun himself gives so much credit to writers and directors so no doubt they deserve credit in molding ASR but Barun shaped and filled in unbelievable details tha jus don't allow us to picture anyone else as ASR and essentially bring down a show that suggested otherwise! Ad your prob right, the fact that he didn't speak so much in the beginning surely helped him understand this man, even when he just started to live ASR, he got it so right! Love ur last line "physical silence...reflection of inner self "...would hv to agree :)

so very good to see you. thank you for reading and saying you like, but even more for random thoughts and rambling. both are fabulous things, don't you think?

you baby is just about two? how awfully cute, aww the toddling, the absolute innocence, and we so busy "standardizing" them, potty train, eat now, sleep now, sigh.

in bold pink, i had the same thought the other day, somehow, office track, the early days at the dargah, on the road, and precisely from the night of discovering dhak dhak to the terrace, they are just so terribly heart hitting. the best days. they stay in you. oh when he feels the heart beat and the look on his face as he identifies the cause... as though his world was spiraling out of control, one wondered what he'd do. then he did the asr thing... straight to the point, act on it dammit, off to her place, and that bemused look on his face when he walked along the verandah as she followed outside... i could see that scene endlessly (or on a loop as issk and i have been discussioniaing 😆), especially the walk. how terribly beautiful: a nasty, dark man, completely in love, his inner beauty just shining through. somehow, never felt namby pamby or silly. the writing and direction were so strong those days, such instinctive character delineation.

this current ha ha hee hee bit i find slightly irksome... interesting mainly because i like seeing how barun holds on to asr.

that part where she gives him the real silent treaetment... yes gorgeous. the day he missed her, looking at her stars, just restless without her... ufff.

agree, we take what we can get... the early days made a place in me, so even when the sillies came on, i knew if i hung around everyday, with just a bit of patience, i'd get something to sigh for. almost every day, i did. the only episode i didn't see was 397. heart too heavy, and the smarminess too oh no let me run.

lovely to see you.

@indi
I enjoyed all about khamoshi in your beautiful 162.
@ina
Infact I tried hard to correlate A's strange statement to Anji, "mai pyar Khushi se saadi ke baad karne lagaa" to the post marriage silent treatment episode to make any possible sense. The emotional intimacy and A's dependency on K only kept growing everyday as they shared the same room.
Just in general, silence creates drift and probably A feared it. The transient and failing silent treatments in case of Arshi indicates their strong bond.
Interesting conversation there!
