^^^ horizon,

no question, there was back story. chacha was a useful character to build on later, a good story teller wouldn't not use such a thing, especially when story has to last several episodes if the going is good.

lack of care with many things yes. but shyam never really contemplated divorcing his wife. just having both girls somehow. which is natural for his personality. i agree asr was not based on othello, but signs of many large characters from mythology and literature in him. to baruns' credit that he never let asr feel holier than thou or above us all, kept him human, real, here, yet we felt his inner large being. what a sync between the sender and the receivers in this piece of communication.

that hanky thing... no doubt iago and his play was in the writer's mind, then they dumped it. always found it intriguing.

you are right, despite everything, we have a sort of unmessable beauty in ipk. about the eye flickering woman villain, ha ha, i think the serials that show that actually portray a world where women are the root of all evil and men are oh so noble. thank g we had none of it. only sheetal at the end... but she was never there in ipk was she? that was some accident where another serial lost its way and got into the frames of our lovely one. 😆

some day maybe, again in your living room, and my bedroom, a show will play that will make us forget the world for 30 odd minutes and everything will feel different, heightened, energized for it.

khushi ulajh gayi.

khushi is entangled. in feelings and sensations that glitter like fairy lights and beckon her. her favorite thing is fairy lights and stars so why not bask in the feelings and sensations of what he does to her. new exciting and wicked all at the same time.but she's not supposed to feel like that, so how can she go to them. and let them glow on her skin, touch her heart, free her fantasy? how could she not listen to what everyone was telling her to do? so much is happening at home, yet why is spending all her time thinking of that laad governor. there he is giving her milk ever so tenderly, the look in his eyes is making her heart thump. and there she is, running across the cold hospital corridor and flinging herself into the warmth of his arms, the reassurance of his solid chest, and he is there.

he's there by her side as she weeps for her father, helpless, and his hand comes up and rests on her head... what is this, a promise, an assurance, a commitment forever? why does it make her feel better? calm her down? and why is his hand brushing against her back so delicate, so gentle, that she feels a shiver, his breath so warm and near that her breath is all in a tumble, a mess, racing? his eyes so intent on her, never moving away, why can't she look away? why does she want this moment to never end? but this moment can never end. for here is hamesha. isn't it?can this be love? will she feel like this forever?

devi maiya, want's happening to me?

khushi was never meant to feel anything of this nature for a man like asr. or so said her upbringing, and her own head by the time she was old enough to think of such things. if anything she was meant to be attracted to a man who exhibited traits shyam did on the surface. an educated, pleasant man, with a great knowledge of the shastras, the cultural texts, polite, respectful of elders, modest, the sort that blends easily with people, environments, and doesn't dominate it, kind and concerned, certainly not so attractive both sensually and emotionally that you can't stop thinking about him. Loved this para. You are so right and I have never thought about it but it is true. yes, Shyam or someone like who he portrayed himself to be would have made a perfect husband but then ASR comes along, a non believer(possibly) and modern man who has this magnetic pull over her.

marriage in india was never really about the one man one woman and helpless absolute love idea. there was always the reference of krishna with his lovely radha, but he was divine, even radharani for many is the incarnation of lakshmi come to unite with her eternal mate, vishnu. Interesting i must read more about hindu deities.

for us mere mortals the plan was somewhat mundane. it was well thought out and tried its best to eliminate risk. very much a social construct. it was about matching two people similar in background and outlook, able to stay the long haul together, the families as much a part of this coming together as the couple. if anything, this crazy, heady thing called love was looked at askance. so exciting, so absorbing, so dhak dhak giving, how could it possibly be good for you?

even today, exactly like khushi, people ask, so yours' was a love marriage? even today it seems like the "other" way to find a life mate, the "arranged" still a norm across many parts of society. the difference now though is that certainly "love" marriage has an edge of aspiration to it.

which is the only reason perhaps khushi had even considered a thing called "pyaar." but in this also she had incorporated the image of the kind of person she would feel this elusive but precious feeling for. and that man was nothing like this arrogant, young devil of a rich guy with the most lethal temper, the deepest eyes, the gorgeous smile, who when he came near or showed her concern, made her heart just melt. her breath began to rush. perfect description of ASR

but for some time now, it is becoming impossible not to notice feelings inside her. that telltale tear the other day was a clear sign of how deep the feeling had gone. and now after his intoxicating nearness as he peeled off the layers of light, her head just refused to move away from his thoughts.

we live in layers perhaps. not always aware of each one. but the layers are always on, doing what they have to.

so at one level we are doing what we believe is what must be done, as is khushi. still aiding and abetting la in her quest to make her relationship with asr permanent. khushi is not pretending this whole thing, she is genuinely interested in the two finding happiness together.

yet, unknown to her, her instincts, her inner her is reaching out for eternity in its own way.

and her layer that is pure material, physical, is so immersed in the sensation of the man, it just can't stop and go inert and sedate again. that dhakdhak is its call.

i could feel those fingers on her back, her tremble within, she was electrified, and not by that simple alternating current running through the wires. was she entangled? or was she really wrapped in twinkling lights that sparkle in and around you when there's love and desire and their expectant upbeat air? why take off the lights? let them be. perhaps that's exactly what dm was doing, by not giving her easy, straight forward answers. stay a little entangled, khushi. love this!!!!

because asr is in not so different a place. and love this!!!!

he has stood here by the pool thinking of her before. deep in the night, all by himself. once he stood with her payal in his hand... lost, khushi had returned on the day he thought she was gone forever.. hamesha. he stood thinking here of her, on a windy evening, holding the curtain away, its billow perhaps reminding him of her dupatta. it was the evening he'd brought lavanya home to be his live in girlfriend yet in his hour of solitude, his thoughts strayed to khushi.

again those layers it seems, the ones in which we live. our conscious self doing its own thing, our subconscious its own. we try to hear the voice of our most rational layer, but is it always possible? is it even right? he never meant to cheat on lavanya. in his wildest also he hadn't imagined there would be this compelling, convulsive attraction for this lucknow chat, samosa, jalebi, naan with bahut saara makkhan girl. he can't help it even if it is wrong although it is right.

he had no idea that her tears would disturb the heck out of him, or to see her smile would mean everything.

of course, to preserve his image in his own eyes, his sardonic, smart cool layer would pretend it's all nonsense. he'd walk up to her perhaps because he just had to, but then would say in a mean little, boy voice
"itna uchhal kyun rahi ho..." why are you jumping so much? and cut into the girl's extreme joy (so much jumping, i couldn't even catch a cap). and then threaten her with familiar salary cut in the fear that his utterly telltale tender loving act would give him away to all, most importantly himself. he'd walk away of course after breaking up the party, but not without looking back when no one is watching. and let her obvious glee bring happiness and a sense of satisfaction to his heart.
yup
she was under so much pressure, he had to do something to give her a sense of fun and lightness, her kind of happiness so she felt less hurt, lost, sad. so the tycoon sat with a packet of miss chamko detergent powder and slipped in two silver coins (uff too generous again and almost got caught for it)into the packet then sealed it carefully. oh, he also told the servant not to tell anyone. that was so faraq nahin padta, dear shatir asr.

and speaking of shatir, what happened to the fabled dimaag, when he saw the girl in tight unfashionable churidar with pompom and gota, entangled in gleaming fairy lights? he was entranced, his eyes never left her face, as she stood their glowing, enchanting. he forgot he had to switch off the electricity...mind not functioning of course.

another layer had taken over. he had to close the gap between them, had to look at her and let every bit of his desire and wonder show, had to hold her hand with authority and start taking the wires down slowly, turning her with gentleness, his hand so tender yet so right on her shoulder.

she never thought to protest, he never thought to ask. BRILLIANT!!!!

his arm on her shoulder he turned her around, in my mind a rite from the bengali wedding ceremony, when a man stands behind his wife and puts his arm around her as together they pour beaten rice into fire. always a stirring visual, no matter how ordinary looking the couple.

something terribly sensuous about this man holding this woman from the back, his breath on her shoulder, she just sensing his body his breath his presence, he but moments away from burying his face in the crook of her neck, feeling her silken hair on his face and just inhaling her essence. perhaps all of that happened somewhere unseen and the excitement of that permeated this scene. DHAK..DHAK...DHAK...SIGH...CAN YOU SAY PALPITATIONS?

she could feel it, he could feel it. no one thought it was crazy to leave the lights on, too much was happening to even think of such things. tum theek ho? he had to ask her when the last wire was off. and again, are you sure?

neither was ok, how could they be. when anjali finally arrived and switched off the lights it was as though a spell broke. a fairy tale tried hard to return to reality.

but seemed to fail.

it lingered in his "khushi ulajh gayi," in her instant tremulous look, and his absolute inability to look away from her as she left. di noticed how he kept staring. good thing she didn't see the look in his eyes. nothing would protect him then, she'd know his "saansey ruk gayi" girl is here. the one he can't stop thinking about, whose visage his eyes seek morning and night, whose every suffering he wants to take away instantly. and the next day when she tells them that's how you know you love someone, would he make the connection? would khushi?

but at some layer of his he already knows. that's why he stands there willingly lost in her thought, enjoying her touch, her feel, her very loveliness. enchanting fairy tale girl wrapped in fairy light, he wants to linger with her a while. just a feeling. not right. not wrong. no rational meaning, nor name. he gently reaches out and holds a light, such a lover like romantic gesture. arnav singh raizada ko kissi ladki se koi faraq nahin padta.

in my darkest night
when the moon was covered
and i roamed through wreckage
and a nimbus-clouded voice directed me:
"live in the layers,
not on the litter."
though i lack the art
to decipher it
no doubt the next chapter
in my book of transformations
is already written.
i am not done with my changes.

these lines from stanley kunitz's "the layers" playing in my mind, especially when i see the expressions on their faces. something about living in layers, of transforming, and changes. when you meet the one you love and who loves you, the changes are entrancing, like those blinking twinkling magical lights.

Indi just magical like those fairy lights. Thanks so much for reminding me of the essence of a romantic novella. The characters of Arnav and Kushi lay the foundation of this beautiful, yet tantalizing love story. My stomach churns, my heartbeat races and my breath hitches for them it is incredible how no other characters, even in the Nicholas Sparks movie The Notebook (one of the most romantic movies for me), do that to me. Thank you for your wonderful writing. I will say it again please write a book!

Sorry, Ami, but I'm never keen on watching shirtless men.

we are more complex than we think. despite my extreme openness regarding premarital cohabitation and many other things related to sex, somehow, i find skin showing demeaning and nauseating almost. doesn't matter which gender, do not strip a human being to get trp/popularity whatever. ah, if the story and character need it... that's ok. if the story needs you to be you're in the pool, i am ok with you being shirtless, or in some outdoor scene where for whatever reason it's natural to be without shirt, fine, but just to show your body and those unnatural whatever packs, please. also, please do not bung in situations just so that you can show a man without his clothes.
and so i was that minority which didn't want unnecessary topless scenes of barun (bathing asr at a public tube well, making him take off shirt for some strange oil massage... art.i.fic.ial), and just didn't like either of his posed bare chested pictures. you and i had very different pov's on asr and la and whether anything was on between them, but on this issue, hi five, my poet/journo.

Episodes 101-102

"Don't worry, sab teek ho jaayega"

At last he gets to do something he'd been aching to do since she stepped back from her embrace and ran away. So much was wrapped up in this on teeny tiny moment, his redemption, his "sahaara" for her, in a way a confession of what she means to him. It was as if he got a second chance. it was such a baeutiful moment watching him get the nerve up to comfort her his own way. Those tears he so despises were being shed behind her coverd face again, The same fear of losing her parents again was running through her "Hamse dobara nahi hoga (i can't do it again"). This time he wouldn't allow him self to freez, this time he wouldn't let anything not even his own inhibitions hold him back from giving her the "sahara" she needed. This time he consoled her "don't worry, it will all be ok"

This moment was not just limited to the last 24 hrs, it was a promise that she felt the power of, all that he was trying to convey through this one small gesture. This would be the moment she would be immersed in tying it to Shyaam's words "doesn't matter how deep the darkness is, i'll always try to bring light in you life. " got to give Shyam credit "them there are" some beautiful words!

He was unable to make things right earlier that day when Khushi came to the RM to collect her salary. Both felt a bit awkward/ashamed for different reasons as they think back to her running to him. Before he could aske her about her father and maybe even a "tum teek ho" , Anjali comes and unknowingly takes away his chance

She took out a container and asked to put her salary in it. A gesture of almost begging but he doesn't degrade her proving yet again that all the "aukaad" "hesiyat" talk is just that, talk, he handed her the check with respect. i hope she got that.

Upon seeing the check Khushi became upset over the 3,000rs that were deducted by his accountant, right away he goes to get her a new check but she mistakes it as him walking away in anger and takes off before he can bring her the new check. Adding more to his guilt, he needed to somehow some way reachout to her and let her know.

So he pays the hospital bill for her, generous, but he feels like its the least he could do. She learns of it, right away feeling an attack on her self respect
"STOP! Did you pay this bill?"
"Yes"
"Kyu? why did you pay it? I was coming to pay it, i can take care of my fathers medical needs"
"i know" he tries to put her self-respect at ease, he knows how much it means to her, she would rather fall down from the 2nd floor on his office than to lose, and fight with him countless time to defend it "you were having trouble paying it and i feel that my accountant should'nt have cut your tds"

"yes i was having trouble but i don't need your ehsaan (favor), i can' handle it!"
"Khushi i know you can handle it" I just loved how he kept repeating that he knew she could do it.

She cuts him off, somewhere here it stops being about the bill "why are you doing this? i work for your family , i'm not a part of it. then why are you? " Love how the short tempered man keeps his cool while she bursts on him.
"woh kal hamne jo kuchh bhi kiya, pat anhi kya soch ke...dekhiye ham pe koi ehsaan mat kijieye ham sahe nahi paayenge"(whatever i did, i don't know what i was thinking)
gradually the Khushi hysteria bulds up, show the effects of his constant taunting of her aukaad. "I don't want your money, just because i became weak for some time doesn't mean that i want something from you...aap rehne dijiye (you just leave it)"...she slowly looks up to a patient silent Arnav who is only listening, and she realizes "oh God, what am i saying? i'm going crazy, you're trying to help me and--" abruptly ending her thought, she just walks away fast as she can...she finds a place to sit and cry away.

The state she walked away in, he had to be with her, he finds her. he always does.

She removes her hands from her face to him, and found a his face that said i'm here for you, and though she had scolded herself for needing his shoulder that day, she onces again shared her pain and fears with him. Didn't utter a word, just the one gestured, after which their eyes did all the talking. Whatever this was, it was real, undenied by both of them here. They sat there both unsure of how to react while the "tu hi bata mere maula" tunes fill the air.

With out saying another word, they both get up and go their opposite directions, he palats back she looks away, she palats back, he looks away, but both felt the other pull and finally their eyes meet before losing sight of each other. Love the symbolism, as opposite as they are, their pull towards each other will bring them together. Gorgeous!!!!!1

Later that night, Arnav laid in his bed thinking of the moment he thought he failed her, and this moments, where she looked back at him. He let her know he cares and much more, in the process freeing himself the guilt of not being able to... oh yes, finally he could sleep peacefully

The next morning brings a brave new day with their second similtanious sneezing. the last time he wanting her out of this house more than anything as he felt her make her place in his heart...errr his house, today is different, he may have been eagerly awaiting her arrival.

After putting that hand on her head, he can't put the breaks on this soft caring side to him. First he let her slide after the way she spoke of ASR, not knowing she was talking to ASR. She felt his caring eyes follow her everywhere making her nervous... its always been easier to deal with rakshas, laad governor than this guy. Later consumed by the newspaper, she brakes his favorite vase accidentally, she expected a full on yelling session from him, instead he took the blame when Di inquired.

"Di woh galati se mujhse tut gaya"...another little secret to stay between the two..."itna bhi accha nahi tha" oh i melted off my chair! EXACTLY!!!"it wasn't that great?" no not enough to cuase his precious pain over it.

He wasn't done yet, when he heard Khushi's ploy to get a free silver coin, right away he knew he wanted to make this happen for her. He wants to make her happy after all the sad she's been through. So, he snuck not "ek"(one) but "do do"(two) silver coins in one of the 20 chamko detergent packages and sealed it back up...another secret, this time b/w him and OP. So OP was the first to know Arnav baba had a thing for Ms.Chamko huh?hmmm. CUTE!!!

She jumps with joy while he watches in hiding, just like her pain had transferred to his face two days ago, her pure joy had also transferred to him.

Wonder when was the last time Arnave Singh Raizada was this happy...this must've been the first time in a long time. After taking in her joy, he walks over and puts on his ASR mask to cover his tracks
"Itna ucchal kyu rahi ho? (why are you jumping like this)" maybe it was his way sharing the joy with her. Righteous Khushi can't bare the thought of cheating the merchant, the article said 1 silver coin not 2. "Anjaliji, i'm going to return one of them"
if only she know the troubles the "merchant" went through LOL!!!!

Arnav almost giving himself away "Nahi" he blurts out, quickly covering himself ASR ishstyle " Kahin nahi jaaogi tum, warna salary kaat doonga tumhari! (you're not going anywhere, or else i'll cut your salary)"...The good old salary threat, works like a charm every time.

Her tears have bugged him for a while now, but since when did her smile, her happiness become such a priority for him? sure this tragedy made has bought them closer than ever but the lengths he's going through just to see her smile, to take her mind off of her troubles and fears, how very sweet of this rakshas. He doesn't even realize his feelings are oozing out, and at the very least she's taking notice. The streak will continue till the sound of his ring tone snaps him out of it by the pool side, and he completely denies all he's oozing out here. BRILLIANT!!!!

DROOL CORNER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! STILL DROOLING AMI MY DEAR!!!

ooohhh la la! HOTWA in BEDWA! mother may I????

thanks, cynthia, you are too kind. loved your comments. all those things in pink happen to me too. even if i read in the most ordinary of stories or somewhere something like, "he looked at her," i feel my stomach do stuff. crazy, that memory of asr khushi stored in me. all thanks to two actors and some really good writing. haven't seen the notebook, keep hearing about it. must do so. write a book. i feel thrilled when you say that. maybe, some day. it would be fantastic if i could, by know you might have guessed i like to write. 🤣

i am going to read all your catch up episodes this evening and comment, looking forward to it.

ARSHI"S INDEX

Episode 102-small Part 103

Dreams ,wishes, and desires are the dreams within as when dreams become reality ,reality becomes a dream itself. This is what is going on in this epi as everyone has a dream of something but the reality of that dream itself stands as a dream .

The most dreamy Part-No Slouchy Scorpion

Scene 1-Khushi 'Payal-Buaji[Queen-Knight-Pawn]

Khushi's dream,"Humne socha tha jab pyar hoga to asman mein sitare aur bhi chamkne lagey gain . har jagah sirf wohi nazar ayengey. aur jab woh samne ayengey to phool barasne lagengey, anchal mein sitare chamakne lagengey, charon taraf sirf hansi aur khushi ka mahol hoga"

Translation:I thought in love stars will look brighter in the sky.He will be seen everywhere . When he will come near to me flowers will be showered and stars will sparkle in my Dupatta and there will be laughter in the surroundings.

This is Khushi's dream where there is no room for Slouchy Shyam .Period 100% agreed!

Payal knows Khushi's excitement for the wedding since her childhood and she is not seeing that on her face.As an elder sister she is trying to make her understand the difference between dream and reality,"tum aur tumahre sapne!.Kahan se dhoondegi eik aisa bewakoof jo tere har bewakoofi bhara sapne ko pura karega?Bata hai koi aisa Nazar

mein !"

Translation:You and your dreams! Where are you going to get such an idiot who will fulfill all of your idiotic dreams. Do you know anyone ?"

Payal has no clue Her idiot has accepted her with all of her idiotic dreams and she is connecting the clues because Hey Hey is echoing in her dreams now all she has to do just acknowledge it with open eyes.

Buaji scolds at Khushi for leaving for work but Khushi with her mature dreamy reality to work for her father's medical needs makes her remember her NandKishore who only gives her dream to force Khushi to marry Scorpion.Khushi's maturity has no limit by her age and she has a courage to crush her dreams in that way too. :( SAD FACE😭

Scene 2 'Anjali-Akash 'Payal-Mamiji[Kind Rook- Knights-Pawn]

Mamiji is showering her dreams on Akash to sabotage his dream of Payalji. His reluctant nature irritates Mamiji but Anjali knows her brother's choice and when he tells her his dreams unintentionally ,her happiness has no limits and she insinuates him to pursue his dream.

GO AKASH GO!!!

Akash goes to GH to cross his dreams over window glances with Payal.[I am saying here all RM boys are just like "Gadhe" in love no clue at all]Payal's dream crushes by the reverberation of Mamiji's words and she opens her eyes to come back to cruel reality .I always love her sensibility and living on factual life not fictional life.

Yes but she needs her Akashi and it isn't until she thinks he committed suicide where she acknowledges her love.

Scene3-Arnav and Khushi[King and Queen]

Love this parallel scene as Payal's words unintentionally takes her back to Nainital where Arnav's beating up goons for touching and hurting her makes her urge to connect the dots for her Bewakoof along with his consoling hand on her head in the hospital really shaking her up to come to reality as Raba Ve rubs in and shows how intensifying this matter is as its rhythm brings him into the picture too. If she is flustered so is he.He is capitulated in Khushi's thoughts over her hugging him in the hospital and their yearning looks for each other which makes him closing his eyes as he can sleep peacefully after letting her know "he cares". great scene

His distress and restlessness is written all over. His denial mind is afraid to face the reality as "Kal Tak tou mein uss se pareshan tha tou phir aaj -------" is clearly making him to surrender but how far he can go with that------as his feelings for her weaving its net in his mind as heart is already behind bars of Khushi's dreams.[He is chakki peesing as he is hankering over her]

Khushi comes to work where cleaning for Diwali is on the peak as "The Mighty ASR" is cleaning by using pink and blue broom .LOL ! Just like always they sneeze together..Bless you both!-----

PONDERING CONNECTED DOTS:Last time when they sneezed together [before guest house] He wanted to throw her out of his house as after his heart ,she was making place there but today it seems he was waiting for her.

Arnav covers his mouth by using hanky because of allergy .Khushi thinks of him as a lazy worker and scolds at him ,"Why are you sitting during work? do you know whose home is this?If ASR will see you ,first he will say What the and then fire you instantly as he can smell lazy people like that ..." Khushi monologues,"seems to me he is here." Her "mehsoos" is stronger and she knows he is here.

Arnav amusingly by putting his hanky down with small layer of smirk,"You were saying something" ------His constant caring gazes make her astounded and she runs away from there in her dumbfounded condition leaving him behind all averted and amused.

Anjali scolds at her making Khushi confused and scared like that but she is way happy to see him doing all this for her and her beliefs .He makes excuses of workers for being there...yeah right Yummilicious you want to be close to your Temptalicious after that hug and putting a protective hand on her head...you can't hide it from us dear...

He was upset by her and now she is upset by him following her everywhere as she can't talk during her DhakDhak .She can't fight with him as he is not Rakshus anymore...She can't focus at Buaji's Bhashan either as he comes to her asking about her father. She answers by putting herself together,"He is fine ...we brought him home"----He walks away but did not forget his signature turned look to his Khushi...Yummilicious in white and hanky around his neck[just like in 1st epi scarf around his neck]

Preparation of Diawali is on the peak.La shows Khushi her embroidered cushion and Anjali thinks Aksh instantly as this was done by Payal. So sweet! Khushi remembers Buaji's words to buy some gold or silver for this day

Pause here:Ok poor soul is working for father's meds and this and that ,where on earth she can have money for gold or silver ,seriously like she is buying fruit while going home.Buaji and her Bhashan...kya karain Nandkishore...

While reading newspaper she drops Vase accidentally and everyone runs to see what did she break.Anjali gets scared as this was Arnav's fav Vase but surprisingly before Khushi could confess he tells everyone he broke it accidentally.

Pause here:Just like he never let anyone knows who threw tea on him ,the same here. They both remain their secrets among themselves.

Anjali's smile is skeptical ,she always knew there is something in between her bro and Khushi but she wanted him to figure out as he brought La in the house as his gf . Khushi got one step further with her dream with her " Bewaqoof" in this bafflement...

While everyone gives their precious orders to Om Parakash [Om ..God's name],Khushi asks him to bring 20 Chamko detergent pack which Arnav overhears.A tycoon is hovering around Khushi all day long for the sake of cleaning...yeah Khushi's Bewaqoof is making us Bewaqoof...hmmm

Pause here: Khushi is really smart cookie like "eik panth do kaj" if she will not get silver coin she has detergent for the year.Seriously !No wonder why Arnav wanted her to do all of his engagement preps [with La]along with giving her pain and punishment for getting engaged.

-Love Mamiji's dialogue as it is referring to the future."phatee saree ki chamak ko phele hi koi chura keh lai gya hai"[someone stole already her shine]

Indeed Shyam will get engage with her as he is "Phata Packet"[a married man]

Khushi is hesitant while opening the packets while La and Anjali's excitement and encouragement gives her strength and finally she finds 2 silver coins in the last packet and her sadness changes into smile .She jumps like a child with her beautiful smile which someone was adoring with delectation .This secret admirer is the one who is behind this big smile which in return is the reason of his .[He is one who puts the coins in the packet and Om Knows it as Om is God's name ]When did last time he smile with that relaxation''hmmm

Symbolism and connection:Khushi found an ad in the newspaper for 20-chamko detergent packs ...one silver coin is free and she gets two coins.[I am surprised what I found.]

20 / 2
The 20/2 vibration can be a very negative vibration and can have a desperate need for security and companionship. This may, however, push a person into a hasty, ill-advised marriage.

Connection:20 is the # of God just like 10 who is always there in need.Arnav is there for Khushi no matter what as he is the one who puts coins in the packet and 2 represents sexual tension just like two mangoes in front of Nani , mango juice in his shoes. No doubt this tension is increasing as we are approaching to diwali kiss.but she found 2 coins in the last 20th pack

Which means she will be pushed to engage with Shyam as his dream is also coming true on this big day.[Arnav is the main reason behind all of her hasty decision] love this

-Again there are 25 jars [in a messy kitchen] in front and behind near the window and at the top cabinet again represents Divine force so all the symbols basically in these epis pointing at God and His moves for keeping the harmony and balance around humans which they can't see but its for their own good. BRILLIANT!!!!

He comes forward with his cool fake fuss and acrimony to hide his tracks ,"Why are you jumping?" which makes her embarrassed as she fixes her Dupatta which he adores. Then La tells him about Khushi's achievement as she never won anything.[Indeed Khushi did have won Arnav's heart and not you La]Khushi with her bafflement ,"These days ads are wrong as it says one coin not two" hmmm ...I wish he would've placed one coin but Fate is dragging you there to be smudged by Slouchy Scorpion first...uhhh...

She wants to go back to return it but Arnav threats her again for salary cut if she cuts the day off...as he wants his secret to be safe.Anjali as usually a pillar of hope ,tells her keep it as a "Good Shagun" and Khushi's smile comes back with the thank to her DM which brings smile on her admirer who gives her ,his signature turned around look which is really killing ..seriously at some places and in certain scenes this guy looks really Yummilicious actually more than that...

Lamha-e-Fikriya[Thinkable moment]:Everyone sees Khushi's honesty here including Arnav, then how come he was still thinking of her as a gold digger after seeing her with Jijai and not accepted her truth when she tells him about Shyam after GH track.

and you notice the same thing here...

and here too,

then no what the about it, know now and know well, that along with being addle pated, crack pot sanka jhalli, non stop talker and fried stuff gobbler, you are struck for life. you are in love.

an attraction growing, asserting itself. an emotion that is bursting out of restrictions and wanting to express itself. why was she walkimg past that that wobbling tool so slowly staring up at him, why was he taking forever to fix some wires, his ears fully concentrating on her exchange with anjali. and now, why were they lying entangled with each other on that rangoli for so long, just looking at each other, he took a while before he took over and got the two up on their feet again and gain he kept on holding her hand loking at her, while she just couldn't break that hold of his gaze.

why?

ever since nainital and babuji's sudden paralytic stroke, there's a pressure it seems on the two to acknowledge something. she had asked herself why she'd raced to him in that hospital, needing his shoulder to lean on. she hadn't yet answered that question. but as if to help her along, the writers had written in an untenable scenario. a marry shyam campaign mounted by buaji. this should help her answer some questions, even if the constant thoughts of him and not being able to look away didn't.

on his side, he is finding it difficult not to quicken to her presence, not be around her, not look at her. his heart knows answers his head hasn't asked to hear yet. this need to make everything alright for her. how poignant his promise to the girl of his heart, "everything will be alright," while putting his arms around the girl his head had chosen. yet, it wasn't such a bad head either... this girl will do more for him and his heart than many can ever imagine, even now.

"hello hi bye bye arnav bitwa, lagat hai tum ko koi galat faimi ho gai hai
aree ee holi nahi... diwali manayka seazhun hai."
arnv dear, seems you have misunderstood, this is diwali not holi, says mami as she sees him covered in rangoli hues.

galat faimi. misunderstanding. no, this was the most powerful time of understanding, coming to the brink of acting upon it, and going back. because the heart wasn't ready. willing wanting yearning, but not ready.

the misunderstanding would come later.

he can't look away from her. ever since that day in the hospital, ever since that fairy light thing. ever since she asked pata kaise chalta hai, ever since he saw her in a red sari, in the storm with her hair tossed, on a ramp where she was not meant to be... ever since forever... he can't stop looking at her.

la calls her away. she's teaching la to wear a sari, such a happy smile on her face that her student at last is showing interest. an open happy khushi smile. la is making a mess so she tries it on herself. he is watering his plants.

gust of wind... awareness... he looks up and there she is... wrapping the soft material around her.

an intimate scene, a girl dresses and a man who is losing control watches, the water flows on and overflows... a sign of the extent of his desire maybe. yes she is covered, this is pretend wearing, but still, a thick intimacy. no wonder when she sees him, her heart almost stops then races, her fingers lose grip, the pleats tumble, lose, letting go... like her heart and its feelings perhaps?

wind, water, fengshui... the elements were always there taking part in this love story. perhaps an indication that it was meant to scale the three dimensions, merge with a larger reality. not that this was the first time one saw use of the elements to heighten drama or a feeling, but rarely did it seem so perfect and believable. i repeat, sanaya irani and barun sobti made what can easily become corny and laughable seem beautiful, plausible, rather lovely. you wanted to lose your grip on your reality and enter the fantasy with them.

how barun managed to keep his tycoon shatir image on despite all this wind, water, stars, long deep stares into girl's eyes and lifting her up all the time is beyond me. also no idea how sanaya kept us believing khushi was clean, sweet, innocent, with no guiles, and no thought of trapping this man despite the number of times she was stuck in eyelocks with him or fell into his arms. some calibre both. yes, we did suspend our disbelief and yes we are desperate to believe in love eternal too maybe, an idea more precious than money to many of us. but still. so much fluff, yet the characters intact. deserves applause and thought about acting.

"soch soch ke paagal ho rahe hai... yeh sab uss laad gover... arnavji ki vajah se ho raha hai... na wo hume... aur na hum." i'm going mad thinking, all this is because of that laad gov... arnavji... if he hadn't... if i hadn't...

khushi can't take the heat of this moment anymore and rushes out saying she's unwell, needs medicines. and as she walks aimlessly, the questions come. she speaks to devi maiya, i have always felt this was khsuhi's way of talking to herself, her most inner, clear divine part. the part we all have in us i feel.

delicate delicate words, about the state of heart. from another time in writing, not today's. nowadays we seek simplification of every feeling... dropping off all wondering and complexity. but here it is different, her "na wo hume, aur na hum..." what does it mean really. nothing is clear, yet, we all know what it's all about. slivers and little bits and pieces of every emotion around a larger compelling one, which is usually described in one word. but that word is never said.

"aap yahan?" you here?

he's the auto driver.

"jana kahan hai?" want to go where? gruff rough, typical auto man. yet not. awww.

"aap auto chala rahe hain?" you're driving an auto? her tycoon at the wheel of phatphatiya, all oily and bucolic.

she is beginning to get it. she recalls telling payal just the other night, "humne socha tha jab pyaar hoga toh asman mein taare aur bhi chamakne lagenge, har jagah sirf wahi nazar aayenge..." thought when i fall in love, the stars will shine brighter in the firmament, and everywhere i'll see him only...

"arre ye madam, auto na chalaoon toh kya hero ban jaaonn, " hey madam, not drive auto, then what, become a hero?!! comes the irate reply from the auto guy. t
he real one, since the one seeing things has run off. the dialogues are brilliant, funny, rofl giving even, yet with layer. she is running from the deduction her mind has finally started to make.

what's happening to me, dm... no nothing is happening... i am fine. this is too much information for this slip of a girl. in love with arnav singh raizada? nooo. yet, how lovely that switch to "arnavji" from "laad governor" at the start of her dialogue with dm.

her arnavji, whom she loves, whom she thinks of the moment her dream man is mentioned, who mustn't go hungry, who has a gussa he can't control, who makes her heart go dhakdhak, who watches her wearing a sari and she can't bring herself to think "ew creep," (imagine if shyam were doing that instead of asr), that arnavji, whom she sees everywhere.

but she can't face that yet.

"namaste, pandeji," to the guard at rm

"what the" says the guard like the auto man, music goes haywire, khoosie bitiya bolts, nooo, this can't be happening.

in side rm, safe she is, but... "shubh deepavali, khushiji." uh oh, it's not op and his cutesy chatter, it's the dhobi, the washerman and he is also that man in her dreams, that arnavji.

a fabulously funny segment... cinema like, have i ever seen this interpretation of love struck before? can't remember but maybe some movie had it. no matter, here done brilliantly, and truly creative because it's intrinsically part of story... this is how khushi realises she is in love. so, not just some self indulgent, for the sake of it humour. also, could khushi's realisation come in a calm wise way? an essential element of khushi had to be part of this momentous realisation. that ajeeb element. and that was here aplenty.

again barun showed us what an actor sits inside this slim, good looking, ex call centre manager, a boy from west delhi with not great marks in school, who has no formal training in acting. i do so want to see this actor in a whole range of different roles. can't decide if i like auto man more or dhobi. think i'll settle for dhobi, oh that dhobi ismiliya. he can give banwari a good run for his gathrie.

she decides to close her eyes and walk so as not to see him. addle pated anyway, utterly addle pated in love.

of course, she bangs into him, who else. and he just holds her... and keeps on holding her... his face is full of concern, bit of a "what the" there, but his hands are holding...

this is the primal attraction that is headed straight toward a pool and an ocean of roiling, tumultuous desire. i hold my breath feeling its onrush.

"humne socha tha jab pyaar hoga tab phool barsne lagenge, aanchal mein sitaare chamakne lagenge..." i'd thought, her words come back, that when i'm in love, flowers would shower, stars would fill my aanchal...

aanchal, difficult to explain in english, the free end of your saree, the ends of your dupatta, all can be considered aanchal. the indian woman has used her aanchal to do many things, wipe away tears, protect her child by covering her/him with it, a sense of shelter in it, of a place to hide from the harshness of the world, very much an extension of the role a woman plays in society, as mother, as elder sister. this is uniquely woman, her ability to shelter with love and her shakti, her strength. all of it somewhere in that aanchal. as i said difficult to explain, clumsy effort. the aanchal is where here love her innate female strength her power in life gets expressed. it is also where she gathers her dreams sometimes.

and so it is that the scene changes in this filmi khushi way... and petals shower.
she catches petals and looks at him her heart in her eyes, just enjoying the man, and then he is showering her with sparkling stars, she holds out her aanchal to catch them all if she can... the whole fantasy playing out merrily, unstoppably... khushi must realise today, it's been decided.

when reality returns, khushi is lost. asr is confused, concerned. he'd heard she was unwell. but she can't take his eyes on her any more. she scoots again.

walking back home alone, under the stars, in talk with dm, she acknowledges at last. she'd asked for only one sign from dm to help her understand what she should do about marrying shyam. dm had deluged her with signs, overflow like that watering can of his.

she is muttering..."hum... theek nahin hain... tabhi toh hum shadi nahin karna chahte." i am not okay... all those isharas... that's why i don't want to marry.

love was never mentioned, yet one hadn't seen a girl more in it or aware of it. superb writing, direction, concept.

shyam was waiting at gh, eavesdropping, plying extreme manipulation. jalebis for khushi and lanterns, for he knows of her little rituals with babuji every diwali. khushi's little talk with her father is lovely and touching. her shelter is in danger, the main support in her life. unknown to her a man is getting ready to become just that and more to her. while the pretender shuffles around trying to usurp the place.

she cries alone under the stars, none of her problems have easy solutions. shyam enters with his sick play... khushi smiles at his jalebis, even his lanterns, but when he tries to catch her hands (note in a crocodile like bite), and
gives his spiel of how whenever there's andhera, darkness, he will bring roshni, light, to her life, all she remembers is a man sitting one chair away in a cold desperate hospital, putting his hand on her head. a man who doesn't say much, who makes no promises, but in her hour of darkness, he brought light. she snatches her hand away.

one word is too often profaned
for me to profane it,
one feeling to falsely disdain'd
for thee to disdain in.
one hope is too like despair
for prudence to smother,
and pity from thee more dear
than that from another.

this story of nafrat that was mohabbat, of a girl who'd rather take the gussa from one than the "love" from another, this inexplicable play of emotion that points you in the right direction despite what conventional wisdom or the apparent truth might say, it so reminds me of this intense love poem by shelley read in college.

i can give not what men call love
but wilt thou not accept
the worship the heart lifts above
and the heavens reject not
the desire of the moth for the star
the night for the morrow
the devotion to something afar
from the sphere of our sorrow?

that desire of the moth for the star has started in him and is flaming, it will turn to that worship the heart lifts above and the heavens reject not. both will reach out from the sphere of their sorrow and grasp this word and turn it into that devotion.

in a story that was doomed to be forgotten, another lovely girl thinks of light and diyas and meeting a young man who wants to give her the most beautifiul lamp but she will not let him. he thinks of her too as his mother prattles on. akash and payal, a gentle different love story enters its deeper layers. she has started thinking of him too, as he has been from the moment they met.

can khushi lie back and sort out her confusion and enjoy her little secret with herself? no such luck. the moment she entered, buaji had planted the idea of jadoo tona in her head. black magic. sanaka devi's sanak is on the rise, what ails her? could it be that someone has cast a spell? nice writing, will lead us straight to another heart erupting moment by the pool.

now amma is badgering khushi about her decision regarding marriage to shyam. bless shyam and amma, we have khushi going nuts and scurrying to her mountain... jalebi mountain. as she makes it, what a dream.

her fertile imagination comes up with a great one. she is married to her khadoos laad g. married? what a jump... the girl has just figured out she is in love with the boy. now she's much married already? khsuhi ji... uh huh. shadi shuda, and doing all the things that shadi shuda girls do? in less than an hour? now i need to stuff samosas in my mouth.

did he just blow on your face, made you all ahem inside and said you look like a delhi auto? funny funny dialogue guys, and what a tie up with auto... what the. so khushiji's day dreams are not minus heat, all sweetness and flying stars and flowers, huh? how can it be when sir asr is the man in question. so, that day dream much later when she sees him with a pearl string was really so floaty because lady was in mood a la romance, but here, sorry khushi, truth is out, you got the hots.

just look at her state when he's near.

but with shyam, who's so ugh sweet, a calm, in control khushi.

and the final tadka from khushi's inner layer... arnav in jalebi, her man now part of the sweet that is practically part of her, her being... oh the ultimate owning of the man.

in the span of one episode, khushi has recognised him as her man, identified that he is the one that brings light to her life when it's dark, and seen him as her husband, herself his wife. take away the fun and games, and there's a serious passionate emotion here. after her parents' death, khushi has lived among people who have given her extreme love, but somehow she's always felt beholden, grateful, tried always harder to better, more for them. her gratitude is lovely, but her sense of right, "huq" over anyone is fragile. that huq her heart exercises over asr, without permission from her or him. this is possibly the single clear ishara she had sought from her divine mother.

and an ishara to us from dm. hair. cut.

Loved your analysis Indi. The line is bold was fantastic. YOu are right, she already is imagining him as her husband.

that desire of the moth for the star has started in him and is flaming, it will turn to that worship the heart lifts above and the heavens reject not. both will reach out from the sphere of their sorrow and grasp this word and turn it into that devotion.

in a story that was doomed to be forgotten, another lovely girl thinks of light and diyas and meeting a young man who wants to give her the most beautifiul lamp but she will not let him. he thinks of her too as his mother prattles on. akash and payal, a gentle different love story enters its deeper layers. she has started thinking of him too, as he has been from the moment they met.

can khushi lie back and sort out her confusion and enjoy her little secret with herself? no such luck. the moment she entered, buaji had planted the idea of jadoo tona in her head. black magic. sanaka devi's sanak is on the rise, what ails her? could it be that someone has cast a spell? nice writing, will lead us straight to another heart erupting moment by the pool.

now amma is badgering khushi about her decision regarding marriage to shyam. bless shyam and amma, we have khushi going nuts and scurrying to her mountain... jalebi mountain. as she makes it, what a dream.

her fertile imagination comes up with a great one. she is married to her khadoos laad g. married? what a jump... the girl has just figured out she is in love with the boy. now she's much married already? khsuhi ji... uh huh. shadi shuda, and doing all the things that shadi shuda girls do? in less than an hour? now i need to stuff samosas in my mouth.

did he just blow on your face, made you all ahem inside and said you look like a delhi auto? funny funny dialogue guys, and what a tie up with auto... what the. so khushiji's day dreams are not minus heat, all sweetness and flying stars and flowers, huh? how can it be when sir asr is the man in question. so, that day dream much later when she sees him with a pearl string was really so floaty because lady was in mood a la romance, but here, sorry khushi, truth is out, you got the hots.

just look at her state when he's near.

but with shyam, who's so ugh sweet, a calm, in control khushi.

and the final tadka from khushi's inner layer... arnav in jalebi, her man now part of the sweet that is practically part of her, her being... oh the ultimate owning of the man.

in the span of one episode, khushi has recognised him as her man, identified that he is the one that brings light to her life when it's dark, and seen him as her husband, herself his wife. take away the fun and games, and there's a serious passionate emotion here. after her parents' death, khushi has lived among people who have given her extreme love, but somehow she's always felt beholden, grateful, tried always harder to better, more for them. her gratitude is lovely, but her sense of right, "huq" over anyone is fragile. that huq her heart exercises over asr, without permission from her or him. this is possibly the single clear ishara she had sought from her divine mother. CONSISELY PUT!!!

and an ishara to us from dm. hair. cut.
